Chapter 73 - The Inevitable Has Come… But Isn’t It Too Soon?
Battle Race in the Fantasy World – 73
EP.73 The Inevitable Has Come… But Isn’t It Too Soon?
Leo and Lea had swiftly taken over the indoor training hall as if it were their own home.
And then, they uttered a phrase that sent chills down Kyle’s spine.
“Since we’re here, we thought we might as well do some more training with you, little brother.”
Please, brother. I’ll do better. I’ll exercise harder and cut down on snacks.
So please, don’t say such terrifying things. I really can’t handle Jonathan-style training here.
I can do it if you ask, but people here will faint from shock.
Kyle prayed silently. Words wouldn’t work on these two.
It would be better to pray to a god with a history of abandoning him than to beg his brother and sister.
“But that’s not why we came. And we trust you, little brother, so we’ll let it go.”
“Thank you. Really, thank you, brother.”
So, there is a god! Damn, I knew it!
“…You seem too happy about this, little brother. Do you not want to train with us?”
“No way! I’m just happy that you trust me, brother.”
At Kyle’s exclamation, Leo smiled slightly and muttered, “Is that so?”
Training together was such a joyful thing, there was no way his little brother would think otherwise.
Leo seemed genuinely pleased that his little brother was happy about being trusted.
Thinking this, he picked up the barbell again and resumed his squats.
“Is that even a human…?”
“How can anyone lift that?”
The murmurs of the students could be heard from afar.
They were probably dumbfounded by the weight Leo was lifting.
‘You have no idea, guys. My brother is actually sulking because there’s no more weight to add.’
This wasn’t Jonathan, so there was no reason to load as much weight as there.
Naturally, the weights available here were far less than those at Jonathan.
That’s why Leo was squatting with a look that said, ‘This weight is too light.’
“Kyle.”
From the other side, where she was doing push-ups, Lea called out to her brother.
For the record, she was doing push-ups with just one finger, at an insane speed.
“Yes, sister.”
“The Minister said something interesting when we came in. He said you saved the academy?”
Whether it was saving the academy or just not wanting to see the raiders, I’m not sure.
What’s certain is that subduing them significantly reduced the damage.
“That’s what they say. Honestly, I don’t feel like I did much.”
“Were they strong?”
Wow, she’s holding that position with just one finger. It’s terrifying to think we’re the same species.
Lea, balancing on one finger with her upper body lowered, slowly got to the point.
“….”
Leo also slowed his squats, focusing on Kyle’s next words.
“By other people’s standards, they were incredibly strong. Of course, compared to Jonathan, they were nothing. But they showed potential. If they did something more and saw results, nobodies could suddenly become powerful.”
Kyle himself didn’t know why he was speaking so seriously.
He had intended to speak lightly, but suddenly, anger welled up inside him.
People who became strong through abnormal means, denying the efforts made through sweat.
Just thinking about it made a fire smolder within him.
“They are truly heinous.”
Leo, having put down the barbell, frowned slightly.
The faces of the students watching turned pale or white.
Leo didn’t usually show it, but when he grimaced like that, he looked like a demon.
“I never intended to overlook it, but hearing your story makes me realize how serious it is. Denying rightful effort and passionate training. Such things should never exist in this world.”
“I agree, brother. It seems we should proceed with our decision.”
Lea suddenly mentioned a decision. Just as Kyle was about to ask what she meant,
a man emerged from among the students and called Kyle’s name.
“Kyle Jonathan?”
“Yes, that’s me. Excuse me, but who are you?”
“I’m from the Department of Magic. I heard you requested something a few days ago, and I came to inform you that it’s almost finished.”
Requested something? This time, Leo and Lea looked at Kyle.
The Jonathan Barony had no particular ties to magic.
Kyle was also a layman when it came to magic. He couldn’t use it at all. But the Department of Magic?
“Oh, I just wanted to check something.”
“You want to check something? Can you tell us what it is?”
At Leo’s question, Kyle hesitated for a moment, scratching his head.
“Well, those intruders did something stupid to their bodies that caused their mana to go berserk. After a certain time, they couldn’t hold it anymore and exploded.”
“Those cruel bastards. To desecrate the sacred body like that. So?”
“I suddenly got curious. What would happen if you faced that explosion up close?”
If others, especially mages, heard this, they would probably curse him out, calling him crazy.
No matter how strong someone is, a mana explosion is not something to be taken lightly.
The source of that strength is primarily the mana flowing within the body.
A mana explosion doesn’t just cause external damage; it also impacts the internal organs.
A slight miscalculation could lead to internal injuries, and even if the exterior looks fine, one could die.
The Department of Magic, which received this request, also thought he was out of his mind.
They agreed to it because Kyle had saved the academy and received a commendation from the Minister, but they made it clear that Kyle would be fully responsible for the aftermath.
However, Kyle didn’t seem to care about that.
He just wanted something as close as possible to the mana explosions caused by the intruders.
After clearly stating his request, he simply waited.
“Ho.”
“Heh?”
The funny thing was that both Leo and Lea looked very intrigued.
A mana explosion similar to what those intruders caused? That sounded incredibly interesting!
“Little brother, can I join you in experiencing this?”
“Me too! Kyle, I want to do it too.”
“Do as you please. But don’t complain if it’s too boring. Promise me.”
Leo and Lea nodded in agreement, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

`What kind of insane request is this, seriously?
The senior assistant of the Department of Magic scratched his head in frustration.
The professors were already driving him crazy with their demands for papers.
And now, he had to deal with this bizarre request, wasting his time.
No matter how hard he tried to think positively, it was impossible in this situation.
“Why do they want to cause a mana explosion? This is driving me nuts.”
To make matters worse, it had to be similar in scale to the mana explosions caused by the intruders.
It wasn’t particularly difficult, but it was a tedious task that required meticulous adjustment.
First, they had to reconstruct the mana based on the traces left at the site of the mana explosion.
It wasn’t completely accurate, just an estimate, but it matched over 80% of the time.
In that way, they could reproduce a mana explosion.
The problem was, there was no need to recreate it since there was nothing to gain from doing so.
Moreover, Kyle Jonathan was completely ignorant about magic. He had no reason to be interested in mana explosions.
Despite this, the senior assistant couldn’t understand why such a request had been made.
“Senior assistant, I’ve brought him.”
The errand runner he had sent out had returned.
As Kyle followed behind, the senior assistant was about to speak in a frustrated tone when he saw who was behind Kyle.
“Kyle… Jo… Nathan…”
A man with an imposing aura entered behind Kyle.
An individual almost unknown to current academy students, but the senior assistant recognized him.
He was a man he had seen from a distance a few times during his own student days.
‘Leo Jonathan? Why is that monster here…’
When the woman who entered next was seen, the senior assistant started hiccupping.
Compared to her, Leo might as well have been an angel.
At least he hadn’t half-destroyed the academy or anything similar.
The memory of that day was still vivid in his mind.
Under a beautiful sky, the proud tower of the academy had been completely shattered.
It wasn’t struck by lightning. No one had accidentally caused a magical explosion.
It definitely wasn’t shoddy construction. Nor was it the empire’s enemies targeting the academy.
It was because of one female student, with just one punch, that was the reason.
“Assistant?”
“Uh, yes!”
“Where is it? The thing he requested.”
“Here, here. Take it quickly. And leave quickly.”
At the assistant’s words, the man tilted his head, then nodded in understanding.
He picked up a large blue orb from the desk and handed it to Kyle.
“I’ve configured it to be as similar as possible. When you drop this orb and it breaks, a collapse will occur followed by an explosion. Of course, it can only be used in the observation room managed by the Department of Magic. Shall I guide you there?”
“I’d appreciate that. Let’s go. Brother. Sister.”
Leo and Lea followed Kyle, disappearing behind him.
The senior assistant rubbed his still goosebump-covered arms as he watched them go.
Meanwhile, the Jonathan siblings entered the observation room.
It was a kind of laboratory designed to handle mana, ensuring safety in case of mishandling.
It was sturdy enough to withstand a mana explosion.
“Let’s check it out.”
As Kyle said this, he applied a slight amount of pressure, causing a crack to form in the orb.
It was designed to withstand any impact or force, but a simple squeeze from Kyle caused it to crack.
“Everyone! Quickly, get out of the observation room….”
The man heading towards the exit let out a sigh, “Huh?”
The three siblings showed no intention of escaping, despite the imminent mana explosion.
“What are you doing! You need to evacuate immediately….”
“Close the door and leave. We’ll be fine.”
Shhh!!-
As a blinding white light burst from the orb, the man hurriedly closed the door.
Immediately, a tremendous noise and a shockwave strong enough to stir the mana within him followed.
‘This is bad. They got caught in that mana explosion….’
As the shock subsided and the world grew quiet, the man quickly opened the door.
Praying they were still alive, he was met with a surprising sight.
“How was it, brother, sister?”
“It felt like Father sneezed loudly.”
“Yes! I felt the same, brother.”
“…So, it wasn’t just me.”
The three siblings were leisurely chatting.
