Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Fail Again

As soon as Rozen sprang into action, he rushed toward Clark, intent on healing him before it was too late.

But his efforts were abruptly thwarted when Great Sage suddenly warned him:

[Notice! A rapid attack is incoming from the 3 o'clock direction!]

What?!

Rozen was stunned and unable to react to the sudden attack. The strike closed in, seemingly inevitable, until—

[Notice. Automatic activation of Thought Acceleration to avoid a fatal enemy attack.]

In an instant, Rozen's perception of the world shifted. The incoming attack, along with every movement around him, slowed dramatically. What first seemed to slow to a turtle's pace became even more sluggish, until everything crawled like a snail. Finally, all motion froze entirely, as though time itself had stopped.

This! Everything has stopped! Is this what it feels like to use time-stop powers? This is amazing!

Because of this phenomenon, the attack that had been headed straight for Rozen halted mere inches from him, leaving him unharmed.

Though the danger wasn't fully resolved, Rozen felt immense relief that he had narrowly escaped harm.

There, Rozen finally laid eyes on the source of the attack—a familiar figure from the chaos around him. It was none other than a Honkai Beast, specifically a Chariot type!

The creature loomed large, its colossal body standing at an imposing 10 meters tall. Its sheer size, comparable to a three-story building, exuded a terrifying presence that would strike dread into anyone who faced it. Rozen was no exception, especially as he found himself in the unfortunate position of being its next target.

Thankfully, Great Sage was on his side. Without its assistance, he might have already parted ways with this new world he had only just begun to explore.

Or... perhaps he could activate the immortality and regeneration powers of Sakuragawa Kuro using his cheat after dying? But who could be certain? Either way, gambling with his life was not an option he was willing to consider.

Unfortunately Thought Acceleration only increase my perception speed and not my movement speed, if not maybe I can escape this situation. Now, I need to find a way out of this. What's do you think, Great Sage?

Rozen, carefully assessing his predicament, turned to his most trusted assistant, hoping it would provide the perfect answer to save him from the towering monster before him.

[Answer. Based on an assessment of the situation, it is concluded that by sacrificing one arm, Master can access the powers of Sakuragawa Kuro. By recreating the scene of losing an arm, the chances of successfully activating the power are significantly high.]

Really? But isn't this still incredibly risky? What if I fail to access the power? My condition would become critically dangerous!

Rozen frowned, his hesitation evident as he wrestled with the drastic solution proposed by Great Sage.

[Answer. Sōten Kisshun can be utilized to restore the destroyed arm in case the plan fails. Furthermore, even if the plan is not executed, sustaining injuries from the attack is inevitable.]

That... makes sense, but still...

After a long period of hesitation and deep pondering, Rozen finally decided to go through with the plan and place his trust in Great Sage's recommendation.

He was fully aware of the high risks involved in this gamble, but what choice did he have? Besides, as Great Sage had pointed out earlier, he would sustain injuries regardless, even if he chose not to follow the plan.

It's a leap of faith... but it's my only shot.

Bracing himself for the worst, Rozen prepared to put the risky strategy into action.

Great Sage, take control of my body as soon as Thought Acceleration is deactivated!

[Confirmed.]

At that exact moment, Thought Acceleration was deactivated, and the world around Rozen began to move at normal speed once more. Simultaneously, the Honkai Beast's attack hurtled closer, aiming directly at him.

Great Sage!!!

With Great Sage now in control of Rozen's body, it swiftly moved to ensure that the incoming attack struck one of Rozen's arms.

A sickening crunch pierced the air as bone snapped and flesh tore apart. The force of the impact sent Rozen staggering backward, his arm obliterated in an instant, leaving behind a jagged, bleeding wound where it had once been.

Blood flowed freely from the torn limb. Fortunately, no pain accompanied the injury, as all the pain signals transmitted from his brain were intercepted and absorbed entirely by Great Sage.

Great Sage, are you okay?

[Answer. It's okay. Pain is something I am incapable of experiencing.]

Hearing that, Rozen felt relieved. Even though Great Sage was technically his skill, he no longer saw it as just an ability. Instead, he regarded it as another entity entirely. Though, it might still be too early to think of Great Sage as a true individual—perhaps not until it gained a name of its own, like Ciel in Tensura.

Alright then, now access the regeneration and immortality powers!

With that, Rozen immediately visualized and focused on his desire to activate the powers of immortality and regeneration. In an instant, bones and flesh began to regrow at an extraordinary speed, almost as if by magic. His shattered arm was completely restored within moments.

YES!!! I did it!!!

Seeing his arm fully healed, Rozen felt a surge of joy. He quickly regained control of his body, grinning broadly as he moved his restored arm back and forth several times, marveling at its newfound vitality.

However, his moment of celebration was short-lived as the thunderous stomping of the Honkai Beast's massive feet drew closer. The ground trembled beneath him, and with a serious expression, Rozen shifted his focus entirely to the approaching enemy.

Great Sage! Activate Thought Acceleration! Increase my thought processing speed by 100 times!

[Command acknowledged.]

Once again, the movements in Rozen's vision slowed dramatically, though not to the extreme standstill he experienced earlier. With heightened perception, he quickly analyzed the trajectory of the incoming attack and maneuvered his body in slow motion to dodge out of harm's way.

BOOM!

The ground where he had stood moments before cracked and splintered violently. Rozen gulped, his heart racing as he stared at the destruction. Even though he now had immortality and regenerative abilities, he still had no desire to endure the pain—or the experience of dying—under any circumstances.

I need strength! Let me think… Ah! I know! Let's try that power!

His eyes lit up with determination as he straightened his posture, adopting a combat-ready stance. A faint smirk crossed his face as he muttered under his breath, "I can do this all day."

A surge of immense power coursed through his body, transforming his previously ordinary physique into that of a superhuman. His muscles tightened, his reflexes sharpened, and his entire being radiated newfound strength.

This was the physical prowess of Captain America, blessed by the Super Soldier Serum!

With a powerful stomp, Rozen launched himself toward the Honkai Beast, his fist clenched tightly and charged with all his newfound strength.

BANG!

The Honkai Beast staggered backward, knocked a considerable distance away from him. Seeing this, Rozen grinned in satisfaction, "YES! THIS IS IT! A POWER!!!"

Without giving the creature a chance to recover, he pressed the attack, unleashing a relentless barrage of blows with all his superhuman might.

"Eat my punches!!!"

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The sound of impact echoed through the area as Rozen pummeled the beast repeatedly, each strike delivering devastating force.

Minutes later, the Honkai Beast crumbled under the relentless assault, its massive body shattering before dissipating into pure Honkai energy.

"It's finally died" Rozen exhaled deeply, a sigh of relief escaping him as he watched the energy scatter and fade into the air. The immediate threat was gone, and he allowed himself a brief moment to catch his breath.

"Oh right, Clark!" Rozen, suddenly remembering his fallen companion, immediately rushed over to him. But when he arrived, all he could do was stare helplessly and mournfully at Clark, who lay lifeless on the ground, his body fully eroded by Honkai radiation.

"Damn it! Damn it! I'm too late!!!" Rozen gritted his teeth hard, his fists clenching so tightly they turned white. A deep wave of regret crashed over him, filling him with guilt for failing to save his friend.

I failed again! Failed to save someone again! Damn it! Damn it! DAMN IT!!!

But there was nothing he could do now. Even with his current powers, he couldn't access any resurrection abilities, and the unique rules of the Honkai world prevented resurrection for anyone whose consciousness had been fully lost.

With a somber expression, Rozen pressed his hands together in prayer, silently bidding farewell to Clark. After a long moment, he finally stood and turned away, leaving his fallen friend behind.

Not long after, more Honkai Beasts appeared, their monstrous forms emerging ominously from the shadows. Consumed by grief and rage, Rozen's expression darkened. Without hesitation, he shot forward with incredible speed, channeling all his emotions into pure destruction.

"Die! Die! DIE, YOU MONSTERS!!!" he roared furiously.

His strength, amplified by his raw anger, made every blow devastating. Each strike was lethal, obliterating the Honkai Beasts before they could even retaliate. Rozen rampaged through the swarm, his berserk state turning him into an unstoppable force of destruction.

He wiped out all the Honkai Beasts in the area, but it wasn't long before more of them emerged. Seeing this, Rozen immediately sprang back into action, obliterating the new wave of creatures. However, to his dismay, more Honkai Beasts appeared after that, their unending numbers darkening his expression.

They're still coming. This is so annoying!

He clenched his fists tightly, his frustration mounting.

It seems I really have no choice but to kill the Herrscher to stop new Honkai Beasts from spawning.

He deduced, based on what he knew, that the appearance of the Honkai Beasts was directly linked to areas overflowing with dense Honkai energy. These areas were essentially breeding grounds for Honkai Beasts, often centered around a Herrscher, who was always surrounded by an overwhelming concentration of Honkai energy.

If I don't deal with the Herrscher, this will never end.

His eyes narrowed with determination as he prepared for the next step of his battle, knowing full well that taking down a Herrscher would push him to his absolute limits.

"Great Sage, can you detect where the area with the densest Honkai energy is right now?"

[Answer. An area with highly dense Honkai energy has been detected 10 kilometers from this location. It is highly probable that the Herrscher is located there.]

"I see. In that case, can you guide me there?"

[Answer. Affirmative.]

"Good. But first, I need to increase my speed to get there quickly. Do you have any suggestions for a suitable power, Great Sage?"

[Answer. A power has been identified to enhance physical abilities and significantly increase speed. The power is named Ittou Shura, originating from a character called Kurogane Ikki. The side effects of this power can be mitigated using your regenerative and immortality abilities.]

Hearing this, Rozen's eyes lit up. Remembering how cool and powerful Ittou Shura was—almost akin to Kaioken from Dragon Ball—he couldn't help but feel excited to try it out for himself.

Without wasting any time, Rozen accessed the power. He searched for a thin, long object resembling a sword, grabbing it and wielding it with a kendo stance.

His grip was firm and unwavering. Taking a deep breath, Rozen shouted with all his might, "Ittou Shura!!!"

A surge of magical energy exploded outward from his body, enveloping him in a blazing aura. The sheer intensity of the power caused everything around him to be blown away, debris and dust scattering in every direction like a storm had just passed through.

The overwhelming energy crackled and roared, radiating an unyielding pressure that made the very air around him feel heavy. Rozen could feel the raw strength coursing through his veins, amplifying his speed, reflexes, and physical capabilities to unprecedented levels.

"Let's go!" With a powerful shout, Rozen slammed his foot into the ground, launching himself forward like a comet. The sheer force of his takeoff left massive cracks in the earth and triggered a deafening sonic boom that echoed across the area.

Moving at speeds that surpassed the sound barrier, Rozen's vision became a blur of rapidly shifting scenery. Every moment, the landscape changed, one image blending into the next.

Fortunately, Thought Acceleration ensured that he could process the visuals without disorientation and allowed him to avoid collisions despite the blinding pace of his movement.

Along the way, any Honkai Beasts that appeared were swiftly annihilated. With a single swing of his makeshift sword, bolstered by the momentum and force of his incredible speed, Rozen's attacks were devastating. To an onlooker, he would appear as nothing more than a flash of purple light, followed immediately by the destruction of every Honkai Beast in his path.

"Finally, I've arrived."

With another sonic boom and a thick cloud of dust, Rozen landed at his destination. In less than a minute, he had traveled the 10 kilometers from his previous location.

His gaze immediately fixed on the figure before him. Hovering in the air was a girl with a strikingly familiar appearance, clad in unique, otherworldly attire, and surrounded by an overwhelming density of Honkai energy.

There was no mistaking it. This was the Herrscher—the one he needed to kill.

"Sirin... Even she was a Herrscher of the Void in the Previous Era," Rozen muttered, his voice low and thoughtful. "So this world truly does reincarnate itself..."

His expression turned complex as he stared at the Herrscher. She, in turn, finally noticed his presence, her piercing gaze locking onto him as the oppressive aura around her flared.
