Chapter 18
Chapter 18 – The Third Encounter
“Shall we go by the national rules? Or shall we make it quick?”
『Underground rules are traditional.』
『Let’s finish quickly and do viewer participation.』
『Execute quickly, teacher.』
『LOLOLOL Who cares about that, he’ll be taken down instantly no matter what』
“I’ll give you the choice. We can go by the national rules, first to 1 kill, or first to 6 levels. Which one will it be?”
『warm_americano_wanted (dam0729): Let’s go 1/6』
“Alright, please accept the invitation.”
『Docho-ri ON』
『Isn’t corporal punishment abolished?』
『Warning: violent scenes to follow. Viewer discretion advised.』
As he created a custom room and invited CravingWarmAmericano, dodat stretched his body and rechecked his VR equipment.
The viewers were laughing, making comments like “As expected of Do-si”,
“40-year-old national history teacher”, and “pre-execution warm-up”, as Dodat exaggeratedly rotated his hips and stretched his arms, pretending to warm up.
But inside, his heart was pounding so hard that he could hear it in his ears.
『LOLOLOL LOLOLOL LOL A rogue???』
『??? Not playing a holy knight?』
『Teacher, play a holy knight.』
『LOLOLOL LOLOLOL LOLOLOL No excuses if you lose in a mirror match~』
『Rogue mirror match LOLOLOL LOLOLOL LOL』
『A true teacher giving lessons till the end ㅠㅠ』
As the rogue on the login screen, wielding a dagger while wearing a black cloak, appeared, the chat box went wild, but Dodat’s eyes were already focused, paying no attention to the chat.
Moving his hands to select skills in the build process, he pretended to contemplate for a moment before smoothly assigning his specialty points.
He had spent all day contemplating what kind of build he should use if he were to face a rogue versus rogue showdown, and finally settled on the build he had decided on.
Dodat, who gained the nickname ‘Sir’ or ‘Teacher’ thanks to his fame on the streaming platform (and despite looking at least in the late 30s despite being 28), was living a fairly successful life as a full-time broadcaster.
Yet, even though unimaginable amounts of money were being deposited into his bank account since he started his broadcasts, he had never truly felt satisfied even once. It wasn’t because he was short on money.
Deep in his heart, there was a rogue, not money, broadcasting, or KoK. As such, the words he spit out that day, without even realizing it himself, were like vomiting blood even in a drunken state.
“Isn’t being a rogue cool?” he said.
Unable to even say, “I’m better at it”, the words he uttered were ones he had never said about anyone before or since. But he couldn’t stand it.
The day before, while raising a sub-character, he had met a rogue who showed him an underground route, making him feel as if he were suffocating.
He knew because he loved rogues more than anyone else and played with them more than anyone else. The route was so unbelievably perfectly optimized, taking into account the builds of the remaining 11 champions as well, and constantly being reshaped in real-time based on the ongoing map readings.
Starting out with the intention of casually roasting, the secondary broadcast was supposed to be a means of communication, but the audio was void. He just couldn’t focus on the game or the broadcast.
Rogue was a character that couldn’t be used until Faraday Games mindlessly buffed it someday. An entertainment character that could only be used in tiers at least 2 to 3 levels lower than one’s actual skill level.
Thinking that way, he had just abandoned his rogue when a user with the ID ‘GetDevoured’ vigorously slapped the back of his head. That was the first encounter with GetDevoured. The second encounter with GetDevoured was a video donation.
During the 30-minute video donation period right after the broadcast began, as if someone had been waiting, a single video was sent.
On the preview screen of the video, a warrior and a rogue were facing each other. Expecting it to be a video where the audacious rogue would be swiftly killed by the warrior after daring to provoke him, he half-heartedly expressed his thanks and played the video.
However.
The warrior, with a sharp timing, rushed forward and cleanly met his end by the trap axe, leaving a sense of disappointment. The chat was filled with comments like ‘bug-riddled garbage game’ and ‘definitely cheating?’, but it briefly caught his eye.
Thus, as if possessed, he replayed the video donation once again-The chat window was gradually filling with question marks as it replayed for the third time.
And finally, he was sure.
Parry.
It was a parry.
This crazy rogue parried the axe blade trap.
A weapon that has been parried is quickly deflected in the opposite direction of its original trajectory, highlighting the pleasure of parrying by showing the opponent’s posture collapsing right after a successful parry.
Moreover, the axe blade trap is a move with outrageously high damage due to the coding used for a two-handed axe being directly applied to increase its damage.
Then, what would happen if you parry in sync with the movement of the axe blade trap?
Naturally, it would be swiftly deflected in the opposite direction. In other words, just when the axe trap that warrior thought he dodged leisurely, which should have been impossible for a human to react to, started to ambush the character again at lightning speed.
Theoretically, it’s easy to explain.
However.
Back when Dodat enjoyed being a warrior, trolling on the whole map, there were times when he flew through underground traps wielding dual axes. But never once did he manage to parry, not even by chance. And to think that he managed to do it with the most ruthless dagger, especially against a large weapon?
It was insane gameplay. He didn’t even believe he could succeed once after trying a hundred times. Dodat calmed his pounding chest and finally focused on the ID floating above the rogue.
GetDevoured.
He didn’t know why this person was in the Masters tier, but he was undeniably considered the pinnacle of rogues. From the moment he saw the video, the only thought that came to mind was, “I want to go rogue versus rogue against that person.”
The frustration I once felt had now transformed into a competitive spirit. His second encounter with GetDevoured managed to stir up the rogue buried deep in his heart. He never thought he would be his viewer.
‘Especially a viewer like that…’
‘I imagined an eloquent, cold, and intelligent person…’
But as of now, it didn’t matter. From the moment he saw the ID, he had decided to challenge him. If GetDevoured had remained silent until the song ended, dodat would have eventually requested a 1:1 underground duel.
Having won a viewer participation ticket, he proposed a one-on-one underground duel, offering to reduce the punishment if he won.
Thankfully, GetDevoured had suggested the duel first, so Dodat could fully utilize all the skills he had honed even off-air. This long-awaited moment. Finally, it was his third encounter with CravingWarmAmericano.
“Whoo~ Let’s do this.”
Pushing away the memories that threatened to consume his mind, dodat exhaled a tense breath and focused on the countdown that had begun. Soon, in the damp chill of the underground battlefield, he would face the rogue of that day.
Meeting the peak of the rogue he had acknowledged and sharing swords. He never wanted to lose, not even to a rogue.
“What’s that over there?”
『No way LOLOLOL LOLOLOL LOLOLOL』
In front of the trap box, the pinnacle of the rogue stood, with a cuirass on both arms, greaves on the legs, and a leather armor on the torso, taking steps without even wearing a helmet.
The third encounter with GetDevoured might have been better off not happening.

『Title: Dodat’s Wooden Club is Fierce』
『Going straight for the item without even leveling up against someone like GetDevoured, jumping to the box just shows a grasp of the situation. Is this a psychological warfare?』
– It’s only the beginning of the psychological warfare until they reach the intersection, and from there, it’s clear they’ve changed their course.”
– Did you hear their footsteps?
– Yeah, I heard them faintly. LOLOLOL. Sir Dodat is really good with his sapphires.
– Why would a holy knight need sapphires? He only plays manly line battles on the ground.
– Because Nae-na is good at playing Assassin. If you’re good with a character, you can do well with any of them.
– Sometimes we should steal too, lOL.
– Sir Dodat can easily handle even Diamond players as a rogue.

『Title: Ugh, it’s either disgusting or something, it’s really gross.』
『(Screenshot of a broadcast screen)Look at that clown wearing armor challenging Sir Dodat to a one-on-one duel even though he’s busy.
Just because the duel is a form of content, does she think she has the right to waste others’ time as she pleases?
Or is she trying to console herself by claiming that she lost because she wore strange armor?
Either way, it’s truly disgusting. I feel sorry for Sir Dodat for taking someone like that seriously.
I wondered who would use such a tacky username, but it seems like they have a tacky personality to match.』
– Uh… Go back to where you came from.
– Ugh, you’re disgusting. Get lost.
– Ugh, an attack on Nuna is considered an attack on me. I and Nuna are one body.
– Mmm… one body… connected as one body…
– I hope all of you get sued.

『Title: That concept freak is really insane』
『What kind of armor build is that?
Does she always dress like that and troll around?』
– I watch Ark broadcasts frequently, and that’s definitely not true. She normally wears leather armor.
– Remember when she sniped Ark during her promotion last time?
– Yeah, this is my first time experiencing this.
– Oh, really?
– So why is she dressed like that now when she usually dresses properly?
– Just typical aggro behavior.
– Sir Dodat always handles even such things one by one.
– Seriously, it seems like provoking even more aggro behavior.

『Title: Hey, hurry up and watch Dodat’s broadcast, things are about to explode in 10 seconds』
『If you don’t watch this, your fingers will ache for real. I’m serious.』

Changing Paradise to Faraday
Okay, before you comment about pronoun inconsistencies.
