My Multiple Identities Revealed After Marrying the Bigshot

Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Picking Up a Man on the Roadside

She was admitted to Jing University; there was no suspense at all.

However, her choice to apply to Jing University was not only because she was absolutely certain she would get in but also because she genuinely liked Jing University and wanted to return.

Even if Lin Jingshen was also there, it didn't matter.

At worst, this time, she wouldn't interact with Lin Jingshen at all.

Even if they met, she would ignore him.

After all, she wouldn't give up on attending the university she liked because of a guy.

Lu Youxue's eyes lit up; he even forgot to chew his food as he excitedly said, "Sis, if you also get admitted to Jing University, Youbang won't be the only college student in our village anymore, much less the only one from Jing University! Then we'll see if uncle and aunt still have the nerve to show off! They won't be able to use helping Youbang with his college expenses as an excuse to take advantage of our family anymore. You going to college means you don't have to stay at home and endure our grandparents' disdain."

Lu Youxi reached out and rubbed Lu Youxue's head a few times, which made Lu Youxue somewhat embarrassed.

"Sis, I'm a boy, and I'm grown up now," Lu Youxue said, embarrassedly touching the back of his head and blushing, "My classmates would laugh at me if they saw this."

Lu Youxi paused briefly, then smiled and apologized, "Sorry, I couldn't help it. I won't do it again."

"No, no!" Lu Youxue raised his right hand, which was holding chopsticks, and waved it a few times, "When no one's around... it's still okay…"

"Alright," Lu Youxi held back a laugh, "I think there's no one around right now, and nobody saw just now, so don't worry."

Lu Youxue blushed and nodded head, feeling rather at a loss as he clumsily picked up a piece of celery and stuffed it into his mouth, not really knowing what he was eating.

Lu Youxi then said, "When I go to the city, I want to find a way to bring you and mom and dad over too."

"Dad is filial; the grandparents are his parents, he is willing to endure. But mom has suffered too much injustice at home," Lu Youxi said, "Mom takes such good care of the grandparents, but never gets a good word from them, they treat her like they would a thief. They even hide good food and drinks from her."

Lu Youxi pursed her lips, "I don't expect them to treat mom like their own child, but at least think of her when it comes to benefits, right? But the grandparents treat her purely as a free maid. No, even worse than a free maid."

"If dad agrees later on, that's better, but even if dad doesn't agree, I still want to bring you and mom over," Lu Youxi said, "Otherwise, both of us will be studying in the city, leaving mom alone at home, and I really can't rest easy."

Lu Youxue nodded; he would listen to Lu Youxi.

"It's about time." Lu Youxi packed up both her and Lu Youxue's lunch boxes, "I'm going to see Grandma Xu; you should head back and rest well."

By now, Lu Youxue didn't need to endure the blistering midday sun to travel back and forth to Hexing Village; he had time to nap at school.

Lu Youxue watched Lu Youxi leave, then returned to school.

When Lu Youxi arrived at Grandma Xu's, Grandma Xu had just sold the last of her eggs.

The eggs from Grandma Xu's own chickens were tasty and reasonably priced, so she had many repeat customers in the town, meaning the eggs were always in demand.

Lu Youxi helped Grandma Xu pack up the stall, and then they went back together.

The bus between the town and Hexing Village only ran three times a day—in the morning, at midday, and in the evening.

They caught the midday bus back.

The bus stop was about a fifteen-minute walk from Hexing Village.

As Lu Youxi and Grandma Xu got off the bus and were walking into the village, suddenly a hand fell out from the half-person tall wheat field on the roadside with a "thump" hitting the ground heavily.

It startled both Lu Youxi and Grandma Xu.

"Oh my!" Grandma Xu, frightened, shuddered and patted her chest, gasping in alarm.

"Grandma Xu, don't move here," Lu Youxi finished speaking to Grandma Xu, then moved forward.

"No, it's too dangerous for you alone," Grandma Xu grabbed Lu Youxi, although she couldn't be much help herself, she couldn't let Lu Youxi, a young girl, be at the forefront alone.

Thus, Grandma Xu went with Lu Youxi, and Lu Youxi parted the dense wheat and saw a man lying there.

The hand that had fallen out earlier was still properly attached to the man's body, not severed.

Lu Youxi cautiously did not move closer but looked around instead, picked up a thick branch a few steps away from the roadside, and ran back to prod the man lying on the ground.

With the experiences from Lu Youxi's previous life, even just from the back, she could tell the man's clothes were pricey.

Even in a big city, the tailoring and design were of the expensive sort.

Even more so, Lu Youxi found the clothing somewhat familiar.

However, she would need to see the front to confirm.

"Hey!" Lu Youxi poked him a few times vigorously, rocking the body of the face-down man, almost turning him over; Lu Youxi really put a lot of strength into it, not worried about hurting the other person.

But even with such prodding, there was still no response from the man.

Lu Youxi then simply used the thick branch attempting to turn him over.

However, compared to the man's weight, the branch was a bit too thin.

Just as the man was halfway turned over, the branch couldn't bear his weight and snapped with a "crack."

Lu Youxi reacted quickly, pushing by hand, and managed to turn the man over.

The man's face was pale, his clothes were muddy, and no obvious injuries were visible on his body.

Lu Youxi used the remaining half of the branch to slap the man's face, "Hey, wake up! Wake up!"

Grandma Xu: "…"

This child, really cautious!

After a long time without a response from the man, Lu Youxi now recognized that the man's clothing was from an internationally renowned luxury brand.

In her previous life, she had been a VVIP customer of that brand, liked their tailoring and design, which suited her mature, steady professional image.

Lu Youxi frowned slightly, as now, a man dressed like that definitely belonged to the rich or noble class.

"Grandma Xu, let's call the police, whether it's to get him to a hospital or to investigate his identity, we should let the police handle it," Lu Youxi suggested.

"I see he's injured so gravely; waiting for the police and then getting him to the hospital might be too late," Grandma Xu worried, "After all, it's a human life; we can't just ignore it. Let's first get him to a hospital."

But she felt that Lu Youxi's caution was very good; at least this way, she wouldn't be easily taken advantage of outside.

Seeing that Grandma Xu was truly compassionate, Lu Youxi could only say, "Okay."

Lu Youxi went to a phone booth by the road and called for an ambulance.

"I can go with him," Grandma Xu told Lu Youxi, "You go home."

"That won't do, how can I rest easy leaving you alone?" Without a second thought, Lu Youxi followed onto the vehicle.
