Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Hollywood Playbook
They had barely arrived at 9406 Crest Drive when Zeta-Jones began to have second thoughts. She hadn't expected the party to be a pool party. A pool party, as the name suggested, was a gathering where everyone wore swimsuits or bikinis and partied around a pool. In other places, or in glamorous Hollywood films, pool parties were usually depicted as carefree gatherings for summer fun. But this was Beverly Hills, this was Hollywood. A pool party here meant something entirely different.
While she had considered leaving immediately, she noticed that there were only about a dozen people at the party, almost all of them women. The only man seemed to be the handsome host who had invited her.
Zeta-Jones hesitated. She could blend in with the other women and leave when she had a chance. Or, if the opportunity presented itself, she could try to make a connection with the host. After all, this was Hollywood.
With that thought in mind, she decided to stay. She and two other actresses who had come to the party without swimsuits went to the changing room. They struck up a conversation, bonding over their shared desire for success in the industry.
"I think we should go to that rooftop bar after this," Julie suggested. "It's a more private place to talk."
Catherine and Kate agreed. The three women had formed an instant camaraderie, united by their shared goals and experiences.
At the Parker Rooftop Bar, they could relax and discuss their next steps. "What do you think of Milo?" Julie asked.
"He's wealthy and charming," Kate replied candidly. "But I get the feeling he's a bit of a player."
"I agree," Catherine nodded. "But who would turn down a wealthy and powerful man?"
"Unless he's just looking for a fling," Julie added.
"So, what do we do?" Kate asked.
"I think we should start by being friends," Catherine suggested. "We can show him that we're talented actresses, not just pretty faces."
"That's a great idea," Julie agreed. "And we can use this opportunity to network and find out more about what's happening in Hollywood."
The three women raised their glasses in a toast. They knew that the road to success would be challenging, but they were determined to make it together.
