Chapter 7: The Rules of The Selection
I felt as though I could take on an entire fleet of battle cruisers that belong to The Ancient Cyborg Slavery Bureaucracy after Nora had accepted me as her further husband after we made it through the right of selection.
I grabbed Nora's right hand and went towards the area where we would have the right to select.
"Come on let's go to the location of the event that will change our lives forever". I said to her as I walked out of the simulation.
"I will be coming right behind you." She said to me as I saw her staring at the ring that I had just given her as if she was stuck in a trance.
Then I walked through the active city until I made it to the transport station for this section of the city.
I saw that the station was made from blue colored bricks. The area was so well-lit that it was as bright as if it was midday. Then I noticed that the transports were very active going to and from this station.
Nora stayed with her right arm wrapped around me as we made our way to the transport that was going to take us to the entertainment district of the world.
Nora and I swiped our cards and the gate to the transport opened. I then stepped onto the transport just a few moments before it started to move.
It only took the transport about twenty minutes to fly us from the platform reserved for the education district to the platform that was reserved for the entertainment district.
While I was on this journey, I saw that we passed the red-light district. It was livelier than the rest of the districts that I had visited in the four long years of training on this planet. I remember that Donivon told me about all the time that he spent there, and how he enjoyed how the women from the area were always willing to fulfill his every desire for a price.
That section of the city was not for someone like me. I knew that this was going to be a type of area that I would avoid at all costs because of the love that I have developed for Nova over the last four years.
I grabbed Nora's right hand and looked down at her as the transport stopped moving and quickly brought her outside.
She looked up at me, and I started to cry while looking down at her.
"What is it, Danny? Why exactly are you crying? Did I do something wrong?" she asked me as we walked towards the structure that had the largest group of people that were going towards today.
"Oh, it's truly nothing that you should be worried about, but to be honest with you, I was just thinking about how lucky I was to find you before someone else of the healer caste grabbed as theirs," I said to her as I looked at her with passion in my eyes.
"I am glad that I met someone kind and patient like you this early in my life," Nora said to me as we walked around the building to an area that was being sectioned off and very heavily guarded.
This area had a barrier that was made from dark blue energy that separated this section of the building from the rest of the structure. Two guards on duty were both wearing full body armor of those that belonged to members of the warrior caste. One of them was male, and one was female, and they stood in front of the only opening in the barrier, watching people who were trying to enter the building on their side.
"This area is restricted. Only those that are registered to participate in the major event are allowed to enter through this entrance." The male guard said to me as I walked up to him.
I showed my ID card to the male guard, and I saw that Nova showed her identification card to the female guard.
"So, you two are members of the Healer caste, and you are both participating in the right of selection." The male guard said as he handed me my ID card back.
"I wish you both the best of luck days. May the gods of our race guide you down the right path on this day of great importance". The female said to both of us as we walked past them and through the back door of the building.
I nodded my head at her as I walked away.
On the inside of the building, I saw that there were two ways to go. Both pathways looked the same with a massive metal door at both ends.
"Danny; I will have to separate from you to prepare for the event. I wish you the best of luck when you are alone." Nora said to me as she looked up at me.
"Same to you, baby," I said in response to her as I saw her walk down the hallway that was to my left.
After she opened the door and walked into the room I turned around and walked into the room for men.
Inside the room, I saw many male humans. The only ones that I recognized were Donivon and Fredrick. These people that I did not recognize were most likely members of other castes who had to travel to this planet to participate in this event.
Everyone else had on the body armor for the event and they also had a variety of different melee weapons on their backs.
I saw that the room had only one terminal where I saw a massive screen that had weapon displays on it. There was also a pair of large display screens that hung from the ceiling.
Without thinking about it I walked over to the terminal and selected the melee weapon that I had been trained in for the last four years on the screen.
After I chose the weapon, a section of the wall to the left of the terminal slid open, and out of it came a pair of short dual scythes and a set of stretchable armor.
I then put on the body armor, placed the dual scythes on the braces, and magnetically pulled it to my body.
"So, Danny I hope that you are ready to prove yourself once and for all to be worthy enough to be my rival!" Donovan exclaimed as he punched me on the right shoulder.
"Yes Donivon; I will prove to you what a worthy rival I am by placing higher in whatever this event is than you do."
"Welcome to the right of selection. We have kept what exactly the right of selection is from you all to bring out the most realistic results from each of you in this very important event. Now that this very important event is upon us, I will be revealing all the details to you."
I turned around and saw the televisions in the room were active, and there was a short young male human on the screen who was speaking about the rules of the current event.
"During this event, we will be separating each of our participants into different groups called strike forces. In these strike forces, we will have one member from each of the castes that are taking part in this event into different teams that will compete against each other.
Lethal force is permitted to be used by all people in this event. We will be watching you all, so show off your talents to their fullest extent. Even if you die we will come back since we have been permitted to use the cloning technology to bring you back to life after the event.
Also, I would like to mention that we have a few Demetra, turned vampires, and Vordonian females that we have captured for this event. They are here to give you more of a real-life experience of what kind of things you will be facing once your lives begin as members of a strike force for one of the houses of The Terran Collective.
May whichever deity of our people that you pray to guide you to your best future, and good luck."
After he spoke, the screen went dark, and a tube showed up in the center of the room in its place.
As I walked to the tube, I was sucked in, and I could feel a small electric current course through me as I made it to the other side of the fast travel tube, and I saw that I was no longer in the same room. I was not even in a building I was in a forest of dark oak trees with a group of people, but I did not recognize anyone in this group that I had been put in.
I suppose that the announcer was telling the truth when he said that I would be fighting alongside people who were members of different castes.
Would I be able to trust them, or would they mislead me to failure since they don't know anything about me? If I were to end up in a high for this event, I would have to trust them for the entire duration of this event.
