The Stepdad affair

Chapter 5: Chapter four ☆

TARA

I sat in my bedroom, at my desk. My fingers hovered over the keyboard of my MacBook, taunting the blinking cursor on the blank Word document.

I was trying to flesh out a dark romance story, the kind that pulls you in until you're lost in the shadows of its characters. But the characters, the plot, each sentence, were all trapped, frustratingly, inside my head. I couldn't seem to get them out.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed, disrupting the quiet hum of my bedroom. A text from Lina, my best friend from college.

"Hey, how's the novel coming along?" she asked.

I met Lina in college. She sat next to me in my writing class and from that day she was my best friend.

"Not great," I replied, "I can't think of anything."

"Maybe you need a muse," she suggested, "What about your hot stepdad?"

My eyes widened at the text. I showed Lina a picture of Kohen once when we were having a conversation about my mom, and since then, she's been teasing me about his good looks. I quickly typed back,

"Ew, Lina, that's weird."

She replied almost instantly, "Lol, I'm just messing with you."

However, something in my brain clicked. Not the creepy part about writing a romance about my own stepdad - that was weird. But the idea of a forbidden love story between a stepfather and stepdaughter, that could be the dark twist my story needed.

"I think you've just given me an idea, Lina," I texted back, my fingers flying over the letters. "A forbidden love story, a stepfather, and a stepdaughter in a small town."

"See? I knew your hot stepdad would be useful," Lina responded, followed by a row of laughing emojis.

I rolled my eyes at her comment, but I couldn't deny the spark of excitement I felt.

As I started typing, I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. Who would've thought that a casual, slightly inappropriate comment from my best friend could lead to this? But that was the magic of writing, I supposed. Inspiration could come from the most unlikely places.

I took a deep breath and focused on the screen in front of me, my fingers poised over the keyboard. The room fell silent as I let my imagination run wild, conjuring up a sizzling, forbidden encounter between the characters in my story. The air grew thick with anticipation as I began to type.

The tension became palpable, a pulsing energy that electrified the air.

I paused, my fingers hovering over the keys, realizing the direction my story had taken. My mind wandered, and instead of focusing on my fictional characters, thoughts of my stepdad invaded my consciousness. Heat crept up my cheeks as images of his strong, chiseled jawline and intense gaze flashed through my mind.

I shook my head, attempting to dispel the intrusive thoughts. I couldn't let my personal life bleed into my writing, especially not in this way. It was a fictional story, a product of my imagination.

I sink my teeth into my bottom lip and slip my hand under my shirt, finding my nipple. I roll it between my fingers and use my other hand, slipping it beneath my shorts.

A soft moan escaped my lips before I could stop it, a mix of frustration and desire. I slumped back in my chair, feeling a jumble of emotions in me. Guilt washed over me like a tidal wave, crashing against the shores of my conscience.

I quickly removed my hands and groaned loudly.

I closed my eyes, taking slow, deliberate breaths, trying to steer my mind away from the inappropriate territory it had wandered into. My fingers trembled as they reluctantly returned to the keyboard.

My phone buzzed again, and I quickly picked it up.

LINA: "Hey. I'm coming to your city this Friday how about we have a girls' night out."

I groan loudly.

TARA: "Can't we stay in and watch a movie?"

LINA: Nope.

TARA: Fine, but I'll have to ask Kohen.

LINA: Just flash him a tittie I'm sure he won't mind

TARA: That's not funny

LINA: I wasn't joking smoke show You're a total

TARA: He's also married to my mother.

LINA: Yeah, and? He's young and hot, and she's... well, your mom.

TARA: Okay, this conversation is over.

I get up from my chair and trudge down the stairs. It shouldn't be a big deal for Lina to stay over after all we're adults.

As I reach the bottom of the stairs, I pause, catching sight of him through the open patio doors. He's by the pool, shirtless, his bronzed skin gleaming under the summer sun. My breath hitches in my throat.

Holy mother fucker of fucks.

Sure, he's attractive, but right now, he's...

I swallow hard, trying to gather my thoughts. I've been around attractive guys before, but Kohen... he's different.

Taking a deep breath, I force myself to move, stepping out onto the patio. "Kohen," I stammer, my voice barely audible over the splashing of the water in the pool.

He turns around, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Tara," he greets me, his voice deep, warm.

I gather my courage, attempting to sound casual. "Um, hey. I was wondering if my friend Lina could spend the night on Friday."

Kohen raises an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Lina? Your friend from college?"

The fact that he's wet and shirtless is throwing me off.

I nod, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. "Yeah, she's coming into the city to spend time with me."

He considers for a moment his gaze lingering on me. "Sure," he finally says, a playful smile on his face. "I don't see why not. Just make sure you both keep the noise down."

I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. "Thanks," I manage to say, relieved that he agreed.

Kohen chuckles, shaking his head. "Now go change and join me for a swim."

"W-what?"

"Come join me. I'm bored anyway." He says.

In the pool.... with my stepdad.... who's shirtless.....
