chapter 23

Seeing Moore coming towards him; His loyal follower quickly stood up and pulled over a chair for him.
“Brother Moore please sit down”
“Mm-hmm thank you.”
Moore nodded at him in satisfaction, then sat down with practiced ease.
He was still yawning, looking as if he had just woken up.
“Yawning so much, the old man really lets you sleep too much. So tell me, have you spotted any good-looking girls?”
Giles leaned in towards Moore with a smirk on his face.
“Brother Moore, you can trust me to handle things. As your right-hand man…”
Before Giles could finish his lengthy speech, Moore lifted his hand and smacked him on the back of the head.
“Ouch!”
Giles rubbed the back of his head in pain.
“Get to the point,” he grumbled.
Giles continued sheepishly,
“Brother Moore, after my careful selection based on your taste, there are indeed a few girls who meet your standards in this class. Look at that girl in the first row on your left; I heard she’s a noble knightess. Her status is only slightly lower than yours.”
Moore looked where Giles pointed and stroked his chin thoughtfully,
“Hmm… She is quite pretty. Anyone else?”
“The second last row on the left side by window seat; first from last row; fifth and sixth rows from middle right are all filled with beautiful girls but if we talk about prettiest one then it’s definitely those two young ladies sitting few rows ahead of us.”
As soon as Giles finished speaking Mia turned her head to look at them for a moment which made both men freeze instantly staring intensely at Mia’s retreating figure
Finally it was Moore who came back to senses first nudging Giles out of his trance but not before sneaking another longing glance
“I think I’m falling for her”
Seeing Mia’s face clearly for the first time left even Moore stunned but hearing Giles’ ridiculous statement beside him made him curse under breath
“Get lost! Take a good look at yourself in the mirror”
Giles was left speechless by the scolding, and could only slump on the table in frustration. It wasn’t his fault that he looked like a clown.
After a brief sorrow, Moore pulled him up and asked,
“What’s with the pretty boy next to her?”
“I don’t know either, I only heard ‘goddess brother, brother’ when I came in.”
“Phew, you scared me. It turns out he’s her big cousin.”
…
“Brother, look, there seem to be two perverts behind us, staring at me. Xiaoya, I’m really so scared, I need a hug.”
Gu Ming glanced in that direction and understood their levels. One was second-tier, the other third-tier; he didn’t take them seriously.
As for Moore’s background, Gu Ming didn’t care at all. In the Royal Academy, as long as you don’t kill someone in the arena, it’s all fair game. Bullying with power? Sorry, that’s difficult here.
The Royal Academy sounds like it’s run by the kingdom, but most of the teachers here are from the City of Magic. The operation is funded by the kingdom, with personnel from Delasion, jointly cultivating talent.
Moreover, here, the outstanding students from common backgrounds definitely outnumber the noble students. If you bully others with your family’s power, not to say whether the common students will beat you up, even the principal of the Royal Academy won’t let you off. Gu Ming knows that the principal, who comes from a common background, not only holds a position in the kingdom but also has significant ties with Delasion. The strict school rules of the Royal Academy are probably due to some experiences of the principal. Anyway, if you try to bully others with your family’s influence here, the first rule is crystal clear: you’ll be packing your bags and leaving at the very least.
But the principal doesn’t interfere with students forming cliques; after all, some competition and disputes are necessary for a school.
…
Gu Ming, being hugged, was indifferent to the warmth on his left side, neither initiating nor rejecting.
“You little girl, you’re a magician, and this is how you behave in class? Look at Tina, she’s not a magician, but she takes notes more seriously than you.”
Mia pouted in dissatisfaction,
“Brother, you just don’t understand. Learning magic isn’t about rote memorization. And Tina takes notes so seriously, not to find our weaknesses as magicians? And I’m different; I’m a true great magician, with my unique way of practice.”
Gu Ming twitched his mouth, pointing to his left hand,
“This is your way of practice?”
Mia, not caring about Gu Ming’s gaze, said boldly,
“Replenishing brother’s elements is also my daily essential class. The more I replenish, the faster I learn. And brother, you honestly want me to look at Tina, not knowing how envious she is of me right now. She just can’t lose face and act all serious, otherwise, she’d be more fierce than me if she got close.”
Gu Ming looked at Tina’s ominous object with understanding and silently expressed his agreement with the latter half of Mia’s words.
Tina, who had been quietly listening to Mia’s outpouring, suddenly found the topic shifting to her. Especially when Gu Ming inadvertently glanced at her, she didn’t know if she was embarrassed or had her thoughts exposed by Mia, but her face flushed with a reddish glow.
Seeing Tina’s flushed cheeks, Gu Ming unconsciously reached out and poked her, causing Tina to shrink back like an ostrich.
“Brother, what are you doing? We’re still in class,” she said.
Gu Ming withdrew his hand and whispered in her ear, “Sorry, I couldn’t resist teasing you.”
Tina felt her brain was about to overheat, with wisps of white smoke drifting from her head, but she was filled with a sense of shyness and a hint of joy.
On the other side, Mia was not pleased, her face puffed up.
“Brother, if you like Tina’s coy act, you can tell me. I can do it too, I also want you to flirt with me. Can you do it to me again, please? Can you?”
What Gu Ming had just done naturally had his own considerations, and if Mia could see it, Gu Ming, as a fifth-tier expert, naturally knew that Tina’s frequent glances at him were more than just taking notes in class. Her thoughts were practically written all over her face, and Gu Ming would never favor one over the other.
Mia kept pestering Gu Ming, causing a wave of jealousy around them. If looks could kill, Gu Ming might have been riddled with holes.
Seeing Mia’s constant commotion, Gu Ming grabbed her small hand and intertwined their fingers, calming the situation. Of course, Tina was treated the same way – no favoritism.
For some reason, from the moment Gu Ming held Mia’s hand, she surprisingly became serious, even showing off her left-
“Brother, what’s wrong?”
Gu Ming shook his head, shaking off his crooked thoughts, and replied,
“Nothing, I just thought of some unpleasant things.”
“Oh.”
Mia was not very concerned about Gu Ming’s sudden change, as he often reacted this way when receiving unexpected gifts in the past, occasionally uttering a “fuck.”
