Chapter 482 - 482 I Did Not Betray You
Chapter 482: Chapter 482 I Did Not Betray You
Luo Ziling couldn’t believe that once again, it was someone from the Ling Family who had instigated an attack against him. Overwhelmed by anger, he increased the pressure with his foot. The man screamed miserably once more and immediately begged for mercy.
Yang Qingyin was calmer. She stepped forward and demanded, “A person surnamed Ling sent you to deal with us. What’s his name? What does he look like?”
“We don’t know; we really don’t know what he’s called, and we’ve never seen him,” the man replied with a mournful expression, “We only know his surname is Ling!”
Yang Qingyin pressed further, “And how did he know that we were here sightseeing?”
“We don’t know!” Tears of pain were truly in the man’s eyes.
“Do you know our names? Say our names!” Yang Qingyin’s questioning took on an increasingly intimidating tone.
“We don’t know your names, but we’ve seen your photos.” Under the threat of Luo Ziling’s leg pressing down on his chest with increasing force, the man had no choice but to confess.
Yang Qingyin gave Luo Ziling a look, and he let go of the leg that had been stepping on the man. They walked together to the steps outside the Beacon Tower.
“It’s definitely a frame-up; it couldn’t possibly be someone surnamed Ling who arranged this,” Yang Qingyin asserted confidently, “It must be someone else who knew we were coming here to play. So, they hired assailants to frame the Ling Family.”
“Why do you think that?” Luo Ziling had his doubts, but he wasn’t as certain as Yang Qingyin, so he asked with some confusion.
“The people from the Ling Family already know that you’re highly skilled. If they wanted to deal with you, they wouldn’t hire someone with such poor abilities,” Yang Qingyin seriously shared her viewpoint. “Moreover, if a person surnamed Ling hired them to commit the crime, he wouldn’t reveal his own surname to them. It’s a dead giveaway. So, I’m convinced that someone else is trying to frame the Ling Family.”
On hearing that, Luo Ziling felt it made sense and nodded in agreement before asking Yang Qingyin, “Who then do you think was behind this?”
Without much hesitation, Yang Qingyin responded, “Chen Family’s Chen Jiahai, or Fang Dongxun, with whom you’ve had a dispute. Not to mention, members of our Yang Family.”
Only families like these would target him. Luo Ziling didn’t express any further doubt, but still curiously asked, “Who is the most likely suspect?”
“Fang Dongxun,” Yang Qingyin declared confidently, “He had invited me to go for an outing today. Just now, Fang Qianqian called and invited me to join them for fun, but I didn’t agree. You deliberately made noise on the side, so he would think that we went out to play together and then dispatch people to track us, intending to put you in mortal danger. Plus, he’s been thorough, telling these men that someone with the surname Ling hired them.”
“But he didn’t know we were coming to the Simatai Great Wall to play,” Luo Ziling asked puzzledly, “Did you tell him you were coming here?”
“No,” Yang Qingyin shook her head, her expression suddenly turning grim.
Luo Ziling picked up on what Yang Qingyin was thinking and tactfully chose not to ask.
The two made their way back to the front of the Beacon Tower and saw that the assailants were still lying on the ground.
“Should we call the police?” Luo Ziling asked Yang Qingyin.
After thinking for a moment, Yang Qingyin shook her head, “No need, let’s go!”
“Okay!” Luo Ziling took Yang Qingyin’s hand and they left.
After such an incident, neither of them was in the mood to continue their leisure time. Instead, they turned back, ready to head home.
After over half an hour, reaching an area crowded with tourists, Yang Qingyin saw Ye Xiaoli waiting there but said nothing, simply instructing them to head to the parking lot right away.
During their outing, Yang Qingyin had told Ye Xiaoli not to follow them but to wait near the parking lot instead.
Ye Xiaoli had obediently not followed them, waiting where Yang Qingyin had specified.
Once in the car at the parking area, Yang Qingyin didn’t immediately instruct Ye Xiaoli to drive off but instead asked seriously, “Xiaoli, be honest with me, who did you tell about today’s itinerary?”
“I didn’t tell anyone,” Ye Xiaoli flatly denied, “I haven’t said a word to anyone about the young lady’s whereabouts.”
Surprised, Ye Xiaoli looked back and saw Yang Qingyin’s furious face and then noticed the signs of a struggle on Luo Ziling. She started to understand what had happened and anxiously asked, “Miss, what happened? Was Mr. Luo attacked?”
“Just now, six people suddenly attacked us. Luckily, Ziling’s martial arts skills were strong enough to subdue them all,” Yang Qingyin still seemed unfriendly as she interrogated Ye Xiaoli, “Neither Ziling nor I told anyone else we were going to be here, the only one who knew our schedule was you.”
Ye Xiaoli’s complexion turned pale. She could hardly explain the situation and ultimately could only muster the nerve to assert, “Miss, I can’t explain it, but I swear on my life that I never revealed your whereabouts to anyone. Even when the old master and madam asked me about things related to you, I didn’t say a single word.”
The unfairness Ye Xiaoli felt was beyond description, but she also understood that she was indeed the most likely suspect.
However, she quickly remembered something, hesitated slightly, then told the steely-faced, furious Yang Qingyin, “Miss, our vehicle and your cell phone can be easily tracked.”
When Yang Qingyin heard this, her expression softened. Indeed, it was possible. Many people knew her car’s license plate number, and even more knew her cell phone number. Locating her wasn’t so difficult.
“Miss, please trust me. After the last lesson, I will never reveal the young lady’s whereabouts again,” Ye Xiaoli immediately reassured her, “I will never betray the young lady at any time.”
“I also believe Xiaoli wouldn’t betray us,” Luo Ziling timely spoke in defense of Ye Xiaoli, “They must have tracked us by locating our phones or your car.”
Yang Qingyin didn’t say much more, simply instructing Ye Xiaoli, “Then let’s go.”
Without further ado, Ye Xiaoli started the car and slowly drove out of the parking area.
On the way back, Luo Ziling spoke up in Ye Xiaoli’s defense again, “Senior, you should trust Xiaoli. She wouldn’t betray your whereabouts.”
That Luo Ziling would speak up for her again, Ye Xiaoli couldn’t help but feel grateful.
Yang Qingyin just glanced at Luo Ziling and didn’t discuss Xiaoli’s matter further. Instead, she leaned against Luo Ziling and languidly said, “Junior, I’m tired. I’ll borrow your shoulder to lean on; I want to shut my eyes for a bit.”
After such a thrilling and exciting outing, Yang Qingyin felt quite drowsy as the tension eased.
Leaning on Luo Ziling’s shoulder, she quickly fell asleep.
And at the time they were heading back to the city, Fang Dongxun, who had received the situation report, was fuming with rage.
