A Different Doraemon World

Chapter 15: The End of the Cretaceous Period

Doraemon avoided Nobita's gaze, gritting his teeth and enunciating each word deliberately: "HUMANS ARE UNWORTHY OF LIVING ON EARTH!"

Kelly took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure, and asked, "Unworthy? What makes us unworthy?"

"This originates from a very ancient reason…" Doraemon's tone softened as he began explaining, "Our planet has always been one that cherishes peace. Destroying humanity… was an exceedingly difficult decision for us to make."

Kelly let out a cold laugh: "Cherishes peace? This young lady has never seen anyone who claims to cherish peace yet wants to exterminate an entire species!"

"Doraemon..." Nobita reached out, intending to hold Doraemon's hand, but Doraemon dodged.

"It's been billions of years since we sent that meteorite containing the first forms of life to Earth. We never anticipated that the life forms on that meteorite would develop so abundantly. In the blink of an eye, Earth became home to countless different living beings!"

"In the blink of an eye?" Karen stammered.

"Yes, in the blink of an eye! To humans, hundreds of millions of years of evolution seem like an unimaginably long time, but to us, it's merely a moment!"

"What does this have to do with your plan to exterminate humanity?" Kelly questioned.

"That plan emerged from another of our plans, the 'Zhvendosje e Madhe,' which, in human terms, means the 'Great Migration.'"

"The Great Migration?" All three were astonished.

"The Great Migration plan was proposed more than sixty five million years ago. The universe had become overcrowded, with too many celestial bodies and planets colliding. Meteor showers and other cosmic phenomena were occurring with increasing frequency. Although our planet wasn't directly affected, we realized that the universe was becoming less stable. Data from our experiments confirmed this instability.

After much deliberation, the Great Migration plan was initiated. We intended to relocate to a more stable universe, Universe M. At the same time, before beginning new experiments in that universe, we decided to maintain the experiments already conducted in this one. Periodically, we would return to collect results and data. Over the course of Përjetësia's history, we had established countless research projects in this universe. We couldn't take them all with us, nor could we abandon them. These data was far too valuable. This was the best solution!"

"Sixty five million years ago would be around the end of the Cretaceous period. But why did you decide to exterminate humans?" Kelly frowned.

Doraemon closed his eyes and sighed. "At the time of the migration, we discovered something incredibly important."

"And that was…?"

"The solar system contained a massive gravitational force. At that time, we couldn't determine its exact source, but we detected it was strongest within the solar system. This gravitational force made relocating our planet impossible. To eliminate it, we would have to destroy the solar system. However, just as we were about to proceed with its destruction, we were astonished to discover the vibrant diversity of life on Earth."

Karen interjected: "So, what decision did Përjetësia ultimately make?" By now, she had calmed down. She moved beside Kelly, patting her friend's shoulder to reassure her while casting a worried glance at Nobita. Father was still just a child, and yet, he had to face something like this...

"We convened a conference to discuss the matter, but some individuals acted on their own. They decided to eliminate all life on Earth before destroying the solar system. That's why a second meteorite was sent to Earth. However, this time, the meteorite wasn't an angel carrying life—it was a reaper bringing death."

Kelly clenched her fists, her anger boiling over into a bitter laugh: "Ha ha ha… Cherishes peace, is that what you call cherishing peace? Don't make this young lady laugh!"

Doraemon tried to justify: "Their intentions were good at heart. They thought about the living beings on Earth. After all, if we destroyed the solar system without addressing Earth, its inhabitants would suffer terribly before dying. That meteorite carried a virus that could ensure a peaceful death for Earth's creatures…"

"ENOUGH!!!" Kelly interrupted sharply. "Whatever the reason, destruction is still destruction! Killing is still killing! Taking the lives of others for your own benefit—you're no different from… from… humans?" Her voice trailed off with each word, and in the end, she lowered her face, lost in thought.

"That was the action of a small faction acting independently," Doraemon explained. "By the time we discovered it, it was too late. The virus had already wiped out most of the creatures humans call dinosaurs. We quickly eradicated the remaining virus, saving some life forms that hadn't yet been infected. After this incident, our Great Migration plan was temporarily put on hold."
