A Golden Piece of Bread

Note: *From this point the story will be continued from shins perspective*

Seeing this, Sis sensed some kind of danger. She quickly grabbed my hand tightly and ran into an alleyway. As we were running, someone was chasing us from behind. It was a man wearing a mask. He had a black cloak on. As we were running, we somehow managed to evade that unknown person. After that, we both stopped running. As we were catching our breaths, we both noticed something weird. There was some kind of light coming from a corner of the alleyway.

We slowly walked toward the light cautiously. When we turned the corner to find out where that light was coming from, we saw something weird. It was an old-looking Bar.

On the signboard of the bar, we read the name of the bar, it was "Kikyo Nomiya". From the outside, we could not see what was inside the bar. Sis held up that piece of paper that she had been holding in her hand all this time, there was a lot of text in it. It was more of a letter than an address.

"It's here!!" Sis said, her eyes shining like a star and full of newfound hope. We were both relieved. "It really is! We really made it" I said with a smile on my face.

We slowly opened the wooden door. When we did suddenly, a burst of laughter could be heard from inside the bar. It sounded like a lot of men were laughing their hearts out.

"Cheers boys, This time's fish is the biggest fish we caught this year," said a drunken barbarian-looking man. "Drink all you want! Eat all you want! It's all on me!" he laughed like a maniac. He was talking as if he had won a lottery. Now that I think about it all the men in the bar look like barbarians. Their clothing is similar to ours. They all laughed, got drunk, and took giant bites of meat as they celebrated.

We slowly avoided the drunken people and slowly approached the counter. Suddenly!

"ONE PIECE OF GIANT RAKSHASHA MEAT COMING UP!!!" said a giant fat guy with an angry voice as he slammed the plate of giant delicious, cooked meat on the table right in front of us. Our instincts made us react without thinking. I immediately got in a defensive position and Sis stood in front of me trying to protect me. The man looked rather intimidating. He had a kinglike beard and big eyes.

"HUH? WHAT ARE THESE BRAT'S DOING HERE"

Sis cleared her throat "Ahm"

"We came here from the southeast region," Sis said as she handed the letter in her hand to the giant man. The man read the letter and told us "I see so you both are her kids" he smirked as if he had recalled something "Come with me"

The man then led us to the back place of the bar. It was a long hallway with a bunch of rooms on both sides of the hallway. I counted them as we walked, we walked past at least 30 rooms, and this hallway seemed endless. We eventually stopped in front of a room and we all walked inside of it. This room looked like some kind of office with some old furniture's.

"Now talk, what did you come here for." The man asked

"We came here looking for her" Sis paused a little and made herself clear "Our mother, you know her don't he?". He didn't reply, instead, he had an evil smirk on his face. Seeing this sis and I got a bit worried.

"Ha, so you both really are her kids huh? How funny. Who would have thought that she would have actual children? So, what business do you have with me?"

Sis then asked him with a slightly shaken voice "She used to write in her letter that she worked in this bar. We want to meet her"

Hearing this that man gave a hilarious laugh. As if he was about to die from laughing. "Ahaa…. aa…. ha-ha"

"what's so funny?" sis asked with a concerned look in her eyes

"Oh, it's nothing," said the man

"Then tell us where she is," sis said with a strong voice

"Sure, I can tell you where she is but you can't reach there right now," he said with a smirk as he slowed down his laughter

Sis asked "What! Why not" with a pale face

"You see, your mother used to work here but 2 months ago she quit and went to serve a noble as a maid"

Sis was shaken and worried "How can we meet her then"

"Well, the noble happens to be a frequent customer of mine so I can manage it for you two to meet her." He sounded like a generous old man. He looked like he really wanted to help us

"Really! Thank you for your generosity. How can we ever repay you" sis slightly bowed

"Don't worry about paying me. once you meet your mother you two can pay me with a spectacular reunion"

"We will forever be in your debt," Sis said with a kind voice

That man then showed us a kind smile. At that time sis didn't notice it but I did. I could sense something evil in that man's smile. Something dark. Something ugly. It's something I have seen multiple times.

The Ugly Side of Human Nature

"So, when can we meet her" sis asked him with curiosity

"He comes in this bar every week. You will be able to see him next time he comes. So next week" the man said

Hearing this sis seemed relieved "I see, then we will come back next week again" As we said that we turned around and were about to leave

"Hold on, you two have no place to live right?" we stopped in our tracks and said "Yes-s"

"And you have no money?" he asked

"Yes," Sis said slightly self-conscious

"How about you two work here till next week? You can have 3 meals a day and a roof over your head. How about it?"

"That would be great! We are forever in your debt" sis bowed her head again and urged me to do the same.

"Your work starts today," he said "Return to the front desk for now. I will explain the work a little bit later"

"understood" Sis got up, grabbed my hand, and was about to leave but I then turned around. I looked straight at that man's eyes with a stern glance and I said "By the way, What's your name?" It almost looked like I interrogated him just now.

"it's Garyuu," he said and smiled

We both then left

*After both Shin and his sister left Garyuu still had that smile on his face*

"Pfft…. ah-ah-aha, damn kids" He laughed but this time it wasn't a kind laugh. He laughed wickedly, his face had almost a devil-like expression.

"muhah…hahaha" It almost looked like the devil had possessed him

Then suddenly the telephone on his desktop started to ring and he stopped laughing. He picked up the phone

"o hey look who suddenly decided to ring a bell"

"You sound like you are in a good mood. Did something good happen" a man's voice could be heard from the other side of the telephone. He had a deep and sharp voice.

"yeah something funny just happened, Ha" Garyuu gave a small laugh at the end.

"Well, whatever, It's none of my business. Is my order ready?"

"Yes indeed, you can pick it up the next time you come by"

"That's good to hear. I will come back in 3 days. Make sure the product is well prepared"

"Sure as you say. BTW, if it's not too much to ask can you bring in that woman with you"

"why" said that unknown man with a strong voice

"I don't want to spoil the fun. Just trust me on this, it will be worth the effort"

The unknown man smirked and said "You asshole, you probably cooked something nasty again didn't you?" the unknown man wasn't displeased at all in fact he sounded like he knew Garyuu for a long time.

The unknown man also added "I will be looking forward to it" before cutting
