A Lie Has Turned Into Reality

Chapter 10

As the atmosphere of the broadcast warmed up, she chose an interview as the first content for the collaboration.

Her eyes curved into a smile.

“The most frequent question… the chairman’s job! What on earth does he do to have that much money?”

My job. It was the question I had already anticipated.

Speculations flooded the chat.

Without hesitation, I casually responded with a harmless smile.

“I’m a landlord.”

“Crazy.”

She froze, unable to continue her sentence as if in disbelief.

I was confident. There was not a single lie in what I said.

In fact, the monthly rent I collect from the properties I own already amounts to several hundred million.

“How old are you?”

“I’m twenty-five. Same age as you, Su-Ming, right?”

“Really, twenty-five? You’re a landlord at that age?”

I shrugged my shoulders.

I couldn’t say, “I lied and it became reality!” could I?

I just stared at her with an innocent expression as if asking, “What’s the problem?”

This feels like I’m getting better at pretending it’s no big deal.

“No way…”

She muttered as if in a daze.

The chat was also going crazy. The speed of messages was so fast I couldn’t even keep up with them.

“This is a more personal question! How did you first find my broadcast?”

“I found it when you were playing EoSe a while back.”

“Yeah, you’ve been watching since the early days of my broadcast, right? That’s why your nickname seemed familiar.”

“EoSe, haha, those were the days…”

“Truly a loyal fan.”

“What’s EoSe?”

“It’s a game called Epic of Seven, it was huge for a while, then tanked because of microtransactions and ended up a trash game, haha.”

“I thought it was already shut down?”

“Yeah, it’s a garbage game, haha.”

“EoSe was famous for its art, though, haha.”

“Ttgam, always been known for sinking his life into EoSe, haha.”

A trash game, huh? Well, there’s someone here who really did sink their life into it.

But the truth is, I can’t really argue against that.

The game did indeed rot due to the terrible management team, known for slicing through new players.

“So, do you still play that game?”

“Of course. I played until it shut down.”

“You still play that trash game?”

She immediately covered her mouth with a gasp, realizing her mistake, and glanced at me cautiously.

I couldn’t help but chuckle at her exaggerated reaction.

“Haha, but you know what?”

“What?”

“If you spend enough money, there’s no more fun game than this.”

“Ugh… how annoying…”

Honestly, despite the ridiculous business model (BM), I still believe the game’s graphics and gameplay were top-notch compared to other games. Of course, due to the malicious push for microtransactions and the pay-to-win mechanics, it’s been called a trash game.

But for me, it’s definitely my game of life.

I even took out loans and spent all my money on it, pouring everything I had into this game.

“How much did you spend on EoSe, though? Wow.”

“I bet at least one million or more, right?”

“Judging by how much they normally donate, I’d say it’s at least in the millions.”

Then I noticed some comments in the chat. She seemed to have found them too and immediately fixed her eyes on the screen, reading the comments aloud.

“How much did you spend on EoSe… Really, how much did you spend?”

“Hmm, I don’t remember exactly, but I think I spent around 30 million this month alone.”

“Wow.”

In the past, I would have meticulously planned my spending, calculating the most efficient ways to participate in the weekly events.

But now, it was so trivial to spend money on the game—it didn’t even feel like a big deal.

Like a cheat, watching the game’s currency rise endlessly, I shivered in delight.

Money is for moments like these.

“30 million in one month? Prove it.”

“Someone who drops a million each time they show up could easily spend 30 million on a game, right?”

“Trolls, just leave already.”

“Just blabbing, show us proof of spending.”

“Are you here to show off how much you’ve spent? So obvious.”

“Chat’s getting wild; who even came here?”

The chat was going wild due to the collaboration. The speed of the messages was so fast that there was a delay.

As the trolls barged in with their flood of messages, the chat quickly turned into chaos.

“Trolls are at it again. Take this and leave.”

Click.

She quickly froze the chat so only viewers who had subscribed for more than a week could comment, as if she was used to this.

But there were still a few comments that were hard to believe.

“Proof? It’s not that hard.”

Rather than dismissing it, I thought it would be more effective to provide proof.

But doing so would make me look like I was bragging, and that would be hard to shake off.

There was a foolproof solution, though.

‘I found it.’

I opened the app store’s payment history tab and found the long list of EoSe transaction records.

This should be enough. I handed my phone to her, who was sitting next to me, looking at me blankly.

“What is this?”

“Ahem. This is my payment history for EoSe this month.”

“Is it okay to show this to the viewers?”

I smiled and nodded, and she quickly scrolled down the screen.

“Oh my God, guys. This is real?”

She pressed her phone screen up to the camera.

“Wow, look at all that, haha.”

“Where did the people who were joking about proof go?”

“Seems like they know how to spend money, haha.”

“I wish they’d show some restraint with the money bragging, though.”

“If you’re jealous, you know what to do, haha.”

“Is it just me, or is this a bit off-putting, haha?”

“It’s just you, haha. Quit with the inferiority complex.”

As expected, if I didn’t provide proof, I’d be criticized for not doing so. If I did provide proof, I’d still get criticized for bragging about money.

It was literally a dilemma.

“Well, I gave proof when they asked for it, so what’s with the money bragging? Let’s keep it in moderation, guys.”

She tried to act tough, maintaining her usual “cool older sister” persona, but it only had the opposite effect.

The solution to situations like this was simple.

“Su-Ming.”

“Yeah? Just ignore the chat! You know there are some weirdos out there…”

“It’s not that. I actually have a proposal for you.”

“A proposal?”

She tilted her head, looking confused.

I grinned.

The perfect way to resolve this dilemma.

It was simple…

“I’ll treat the viewers today.”

It was just another usual day. I finished my work and sat down to start my broadcast.

I was deciding which stream to watch. I quickly skimmed through the current list of streams.

“Su-Ming is still live.”

There’s a streamer I’ve been enjoying lately, Su-Ming. Her stream focuses on gaming and interaction with viewers. Recently, her no-end-stream roulette content became a huge hit on YouTube, propelling her to the ranks of top streamers.

She had another major hit with her no-end-stream recently.

“Heh, still got 11 days until her stream ends.”

I chuckled at the no-end-stream schedule posted on her broadcast.

The day the no-end-stream roulette was running, a viewer named Hot Potato came on and spun the roulette with a million-won donation.

I still vividly remember her crying and screaming. That clip became a meme and was being shared everywhere.

Naturally, people’s attention shifted to Hot Potato, the big spender.

Every time his face appeared, he’d donate at least a million won, and rumors about him spread like wildfire. There were even posts from female fans claiming they met him in person.

The rumors kept growing day by day.

Black Diamond [Hot Potato] donated 100,000 cash!

“Su-Ha.”

Insane.

This person always acts this way. Isn’t it usual to say hello in the chat?

Instead of just chatting, he donates huge sums with every message.

As soon as the donation hit, she jumped up and gave the camera a close-up shot.

Her energetic reaction made me laugh.

Black Diamond [Hot Potato] donated 100,000 cash!

“Did you send that email? Is it possible today?”

What email?

I don’t know what it is, but judging by the way the host was frozen, it seemed like something was up.

Is something big coming?

[“Huh! No way? Of course, of course it’s possible!”]

[“Right now, we still have 11 days left on the no-end-stream, but are you really coming?”]

They kept having a private conversation that only they understood, and the chat was soon flooded with question marks. Of course, I joined in the confusion.

“??”

“What’s going on?”

“?”

“Do they want a refund?”

“LOL, refund? What a joke.”

[“No, listen up, guys. You’ve all been curious about the chairman, right?”]

[“So, I thought I’d suggest a collab, just to see if I could get something out of it…”]

“Oh, collab?”

At this moment, a collab with the infamous Hot Potato?

Su-Ming really is a pro. Could she be the god of streaming?

The chat was filled with amazement. The comments that had been slowly trickling in about Hot Potato suddenly burst into excitement.

Black Diamond [Hot Potato] donated 100,000 cash!

“Send me the address.”

A hundred thousand for one chat message.

I’m so jealous. How much money do they have to be able to do that?

Black Diamond [Hot Potato] donated 1,000,000 cash!

“See you soon.”

“Wow, damn…”

One million won, that’s half of my monthly salary.

This huge amount of money was casually donated with a single message, like throwing away a game item.

Honestly, it made me a little mad, but the feeling of envy was stronger.

What does this person do? Do they run a business? Are they a rich kid?

As time passed, my curiosity about them only grew.

[“Aaaah!!! The chairman donated a million won!!!!”]

[“I pledge my loyalty, Chairman!!!!”]

[“Wooo!! Yeahhhh!!!”]

I jumped.

Her heavy headbanging, as if she were at a death metal concert, was a sight to behold.

The force of her swinging hair knocked things off the table.

It was such a ridiculous scene, I couldn’t help but laugh.

“LOL”

“HAHAHAHAHAHA”

“At this point, is she even serious? LOL”

“Oh my God, I’m dying. HAHAHA”

“Currently working as a metal band vocalist. I’ve still got a long way to go.”

“Donating a million won; Chairman’s class is insane.”

“LOL, damn. HAHAHA”

“What if she injures her neck like that? HAHAHA”

“That rock spirit is amazing! LOL”

Hot Potato, truly a likable person.
