A Little Piece of Kripton (One Piece x Superman)

Chapter 17: 17. Fire Dragon

As the group stepped through the massive gate, an eerie sight greeted them. The remnants of a once-thriving city stretched out before them, but the buildings were warped and disfigured. Structures appeared as though they had melted under extreme heat, their forms sagging and pooling into the scorched ground.

The oppressive heat hit them immediately, and beads of sweat began to form on everyone's foreheads—except for Royal, who seemed unaffected.

"Man, it's so hot!" Luffy exclaimed, his discomfort obvious as he tugged at his shirt. In one swift motion, he pulled it off and swung it over his shoulder. "This place feels like a giant oven!"

Robin glanced around, her eyes sharp as she scanned the strange, desolate landscape. Her gaze turned somber as memories surged back, vivid and raw. She could almost feel the scorching heat of Ohara's flames licking at her heels, the acrid smell of burning paper and wood searing her lungs. The haunting image of the island engulfed in fire played in her mind, a once-thriving land reduced to ash and ruin.

Meanwhile, Zoro and Usopp gazed at the ruined city with looks of quiet pity. The desolation stretched out before them—a haunting reminder of the chaos that had unfolded. Usopp's face was openly filled with sorrow, his lips slightly parted as though searching for words that wouldn't come. He shifted uncomfortably, gripping the slingshot in his hands as if it could somehow offer comfort.

Zoro, on the other hand, stood stoically by his side. His expression was harder to read, a mask of calm that he wore effortlessly. Yet, there was a subtle tension in his jaw and the faintest flicker in his eyes that betrayed his guarded exterior. Though he didn't voice it, his heart ached for the people who had endured this tragedy.

The two Straw Hats stood in silence, their shared empathy connecting them in an unspoken understanding.

"Now let's move!" Luffy said, waving a hand to usher them forward. Despite his discomfort, his usual enthusiasm shone through. "I bet there's something amazing ahead!"

Royal sighed quietly, following behind the group, but his eyes lingered on the melted structures. The destruction wasn't just strange—it hinted at a force capable of reshaping the very land itself.

They ventured deeper into the ruined city, their footsteps echoing faintly against the molten remnants of buildings. The air was thick, not just with heat, but with an oppressive silence that seemed to hang over the area like a heavy shroud.

"Hey! Is anyone here?" Luffy's voice rang out, shattering the stillness as he cupped his hands around his mouth. "We're here to help! Where are you?"

But there was no answer. His calls were met only with the eerie crackling of cooling rock and the distant sound of bubbling magma.

"This is strange," Robin murmured, her eyes scanning the desolate surroundings. "Not a single sign of life."

"You think that call was some kind of trap?" Zoro asked, his grip tightening on his sword.

Usopp shivered, not from the heat but from a growing sense of unease. "A prank call? In a place like this? That's even scarier!"

Royal's eyes flicked between the ruins, his enhanced senses on high alert. "No movement. No heat signatures besides the environment. Whoever called us might not be from here."

Royal pointed toward the distant horizon, his piercing eyes narrowing as he focused on the unusual light reflection. "Over there, on the other side of the island. There's snow and ice... but what's odd is the light bouncing off it. And from the looks of it, there might be a dragon over there."

Luffy's eyes lit up with excitement at the mention of a dragon. "A dragon? Really?!"

"Wait, hold on," Robin said, her calm voice cutting through the growing excitement. "If Royal is right, we need to be cautious, Captain."

Usopp, wide-eyed and jittery, added, "That's right! No one in their right mind would just rush into a dangerous situation without knowing what we're up against. And there's no telling what kind of beast might be waiting for us!"

Luffy's excitement didn't waver, but he gave a nod. "Alright, alright, I get it. But I'm still going to check it out!"

As they continued on, the tension in the air only grew, and with every steps.

A deafening roar echoed through the air, vibrating the ground beneath them. The sound was primal, filled with power, and it sent chills down their spines. From behind the blazing inferno, a massive shape emerged, its fiery form cutting through the smoke like a dark shadow against the orange flames.

A dragon.

A terrifying horned fire dragon loomed against the darkened sky, its massive frame cloaked in flames that crackled and danced with a menacing intensity. Its scales, a deep obsidian black streaked with molten red, glimmered like volcanic glass under the glow of its fiery aura. Jagged horns jutted from its skull, curling menacingly like the talons of a predator, each one glowing faintly with embers, as if they were forged in the heart of a volcano.

The dragon's eyes piercing through the darkness as it locked onto the group of intruders. Smoke billowed from its flared nostrils with every breath, carrying the acrid scent of scorched earth. Its enormous wings, torn and singed at the edges, stretched wide like a shroud of destruction, casting an ominous shadow over the ground below.

Each movement of the beast was accompanied by a low rumble, as if the earth itself trembled in submission. Its fiery tail whipped through the air, leaving trails of sparks and ash in its wake, and its claws, long and razor-sharp, gouged deep trenches into the earth.

Luffy's eyes widened in excitement, his usual grin never wavering. "Whoa! A real dragon! This is awesome!"

Royal, his expression serious, took a step forward. His X-ray vision flickered, but he was still unable to see through the fiery form of the dragon. "Its body is probably shielded by heat. Careful please."

The dragon's roar echoed again, louder and more aggressive this time. Its massive head swung toward the group, its fiery breath threatening to ignite everything in its path. The flames danced around it, creating an almost impenetrable barrier of heat.

"Now, he's mad!" Usopp scream in panic.

The dragon bellowed once more, stepping forward, its immense body looming over them like a force of nature. The temperature around them skyrocketed as the creature approached, and it was clear that this was no ordinary beast.

Royal steadied himself, with his usual agility, leaped to the side as the dragon's roar cut through the air as it unleashed a torrent of fire, a scorching stream of flames aimed directly at the Straw Hat Pirates.

The crew scattered in all directions, narrowly avoiding the fiery onslaught.

"Whoa! This thing's got some serious firepower!" Luffy shouted, his excitement undeterred by the heat.

Zoro, sword drawn, dashed to the left, his feet leaving trails of dust in his wake as he narrowly escaped the blast. "I've fought stronger than this," he muttered under his breath, his eyes burning with determination.

Robin gracefully somersaulted backward, using her powers to sprout extra limbs to propel herself out of harm's way. "This heat is intense," she noted coolly, surveying the destruction. "We'll have to be careful not to get overwhelmed by its size.

Usopp, the luckiest of all, had been standing further behind the group. He watched in disbelief as the fire passed inches from him, scorching the ground but miraculously missing him entirely. "W-What just happened?!" he gasped, heart racing, his eyes wide with shock. "That was WAY too close! I-I gotta keep my distance!"

The ground trembled as the fire ravaged the nearby buildings, leaving nothing but smoldering ruins in its wake. The once-bustling city now appeared as a warzone, the air thick with smoke and the smell of burning stone. The dragon's eyes glowed with menace as it bared its teeth, its massive wings sending gusts of heated air toward the crew.

Luffy said, his grin widening as he cracked his knuckles. "Let's take this dragon down!"

Royal gave a quick glance at his crew, his eyes focused and calm. "Stay sharp. Don't let the heat cloud your judgment. We'll need a coordinated attack."

With that, they sprang into action, their every movement deliberate, as the battle against the fire-breathing menace began in earnest.

As Luffy's voice echoed through the air, shouting "Gomu Gomu no Jet Bullet!" his punch soared toward the dragon, but the creature barely flinched. The dragon's thick, scaly hide absorbed the impact without any sign of injury. Frustrated, Luffy watched as the dragon unleashed another blind, furious stream of fire, this time aimed randomly at the crew.

The air was thick with heat, and the ground beneath their feet trembled as the fire spread. Royal, standing firm in front of Robin, felt the intense wave of heat, but with a controlled exhale, he summoned a powerful gust of cold air from his breath, creating a brief shield of frosty wind. The flames collided with the cold front, hissing and steaming as the temperature clashed violently.

Robin, momentarily frozen by the sheer intensity of the battle, felt a surge of gratitude. She turned her gaze to Royal, her eyes softening. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice calm despite the chaos unfolding around them.

Royal gave a brief nod, his face unchanging, but a subtle warmth lingered in his eyes.

While Royal maintained his defensive stance, the dragon, still undeterred, continued to thrash and roar, sending fiery torrents in all directions.

As Luffy was thrown back by the dragon's tail strike, Usopp screamed in horror, watching his captain crash into the ground with a heavy thud. Zoro, furious at the sight, charged at the dragon, aiming for a swift attack. However, the dragon's thick scales absorbed every strike, leaving no visible damage.

"Oi, dragon, what are you saying?" Luffy yelled, recovering and looking up at the beast. He and Zoro had both sensed that the dragon wasn't just attacking blindly—it seemed to be trying to communicate, but its fiery wrath drowned out any possible message.

Ignoring Luffy's words, the dragon let out another terrifying roar and unleashed another scorching stream of fire. As the flames raged toward them, Royal reacted quickly, taking to the air with ease. He zoomed past the dragon, narrowly avoiding the fire, and landed directly on top of the beast's head.

His sharp eyes locked onto a figure seated high atop the dragon's body—a mysterious figure controlling the creature. He quickly spotted a figure, a person moving atop the dragon's neck, their form barely visible against the smoke and fire. Without hesitation, Royal reached out, grabbing the figure and pulling them off the dragon's back.

Before the dragon could react, Royal pulled the person (or lower half of person) toward him, delivering a powerful blow to the dragon that sent the creature stumbling backward than crashing to the ground with a thunderous roar. The dragon writhed in agony, its wings twitching as it struggled to get back on its feet.

As the dragon's bulk tumbled down, Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp quickly leapt out of the way, narrowly avoiding being crushed under the falling creature.

With the dragon unconscious, Royal kept a firm grip on the mysterious figure, pulling them down to the ground. The person foot, dazed from the fall, struggled weakly but was no match for Royal's strength.

Royal, still hovering in the air, carefully landed beside Luffy, holding a strange, severed part of a person's body. He placed it gently on the ground next to Luffy with a slight thud. The remaining figure's lower body twitched and then, to everyone's shock, the legs began to move. They danced in the air as if possessed by an unseen force, performing an eerie, uncoordinated jig, completely out of place amidst the chaos.

"Em, do you guys know what this is?" Royal asked, his voice laced with curiosity and mild confusion. He took a step back, watching the legs continue their peculiar dance as if they had a mind of their own.

Luffy, having just finished the battle, glanced down at the strange sight with his usual wide grin, completely unfazed. "Well... that's definitely not something I expected to see today!"

Zoro, ever the skeptic, narrowed his eyes, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "That's... creepy. Someone better explain what the hell is going on here."

Meanwhile, Robin, who had been silently observing from the sidelines, stepped forward with her usual calm demeanor. "It looks like this person has been... cut in half. But those legs are still very much alive. This is no ordinary injury."

The strange movements of the legs continued, it was a bizarre and unsettling sight, but the crew knew better than to let their guard down.
