A LIVING NIGHTMARE

Chapter 6: BOUND TO GET WORSE

"It seems someone must've cleared your memory of last night, Frances," The man declared.

But who would do such a thing? I wondered deeply and slowly looked at Rene who frowned at my actions.

"Are you actually suspecting me now, Frances?" she asked in disbelief.

"No," I swiftly said.

"This is a very serious case and we'll have to take you to the industry, Miss Frances. It seems there's something they don't want us to know, so they blocked your memory or possibly cleared it," he stated and I frowned in worry.

What is it that they don't want me to know?

"Miss Rene? Did you clear Frances' mind or do you know who did it?"

At his straightforward question, Rene shook her head.

"Touch the ball," he instructed and she did as he said without question.

On touching it, it turned yellow, meaning she was telling the truth and I sighed in relief.

"Wait here while I speak with the other authorities," he said and left.

Now that we were finally alone, Rene faced me.

"So you really don't remember what happened last night?" She asked.

"No, that's what I have been telling you but you refuse to listen," I said and glared at her.

"I'm sorry. I thought you were lying."

"Lying? How would I lie about something like that, Rene? Don't you know me at all?" I was actually getting pissed right now.

"I'm sorry." She pleaded and I rolled my eyes at her.

"You even slapped me just because you thought I was playing dumb," I reminded her and she sighed.

"I'm really sorry but I couldn't control myself. I was mad at you and thought you knew this Logan guy because he clearly knows you," she said to me and I frowned.

"What really happened last night, Rene?"

"I can't really explain but I'll try to brief you until you get your memories back," she said and I sighed in relief.

"So what happened?"

"He took you after the horrible thing he did to Faith, I don't know what he did but you fainted and he carried you in his hands ....thinking about it now, I think he's the one who cleared your memory," she hit the jackpot and I blinked at her in shock.

"How much do you know about Vampires, Frances?" She asked.

"I'm not sure. Just a good amount," I said with a worried look on my face.

"This Logan kept saying you were his girl and kept saying all manner of things I found extremely weird. Sorry to ask this but Frances, do you know who this Logan is?" At her question, I parted my lips to speak when the man we spoke to came back with another authority.

"Frances Franklin, please come with us… and you too Rene."

As we followed them out of the hall, we met the Mayor who was speaking to the Chief in charge of these officers.

When he looked in our direction, he narrowed his eyes at us in suspicion.

"We told your mother not to worry about you, Frances, and we also informed your parents we need you for an investigation, Rene, so please cooperate," the male authority who questioned us said, and we nodded in understanding.

As we got inside his vehicle, it was then I realized the boys weren't done yet with the other authorities.

However, once I was seated inside the car and looked at the front seat, I found someone different seated there and he had on a red hoodie.

"Looking good, Frances," he said and when I looked at the rear-view mirror, I gasped in horror when I found a pair of red eyes staring back at me.

"Frances, are you alright?"

At that question, I blinked again and noticed it was the male authority who was seated in the front seat and not Logan.

I breathed heavily and shook my head.

Something was definitely wrong and if we didn't work on it soon, then it's bound to get worse.
