Chapter 8: THE SEVENTH DOOR
~{FRANCES' POV}~
*
"Frances?"
"Huh?" I looked at Rene who was frowning at me in worry.
"You didn't answer my question," she said.
"What question?"
"Are you alright? I'm beginning to believe he actually did something to you when he took you," she recalled and I blinked at her as I tried to put everything together.
I had decided to accept the fact that it happened and wasn't a dream. But the issue was what happened after that?
What I could recall last was Logan asking me a question; "Aren't you happy to see me?"
We were currently in the industry of magic and I was in the chief officer's office with Rene, waiting for them to bring a professional to bring back my memory of last night because not everyone had the ability to practice such magic.
Most of them were born with it and they were few.
"What would he have done to me?" I asked back.
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," she said thoughtfully.
And while we were staring at each other, the door opened and in came the male authority who had questioned us and the chief officer with a professional who was a young woman.
"Both of them?" She asked the chief officer and he shook his head before saying, "That one."
She moved close to me with a smile on her face, then looked at Rene.
"Please may I use your seat for a moment?" She politely asked and Rene nodded before getting up.
Sitting down, she faced me and so did I.
"To do this I would need to touch your temples, are you ok with that?"
At her question I frowned but nodded. However, before she could touch my head I stopped her.
"Will you see everything as well?"
At my question, she nodded and my eyes quickly shifted to Rene in fright.
Rene looked like she would pass out any moment.
"I'll be walking you through those memories," she clarified and I frowned at her.
"How?"
"I am going to be inside your head taking you through each door," she elaborated and I gulped in fright.
"Miss Frances, please cooperate. You're the only key we have to catch this creature," the chief officer said in his deep voice and I felt my heart tremble.
Her hands went to my temples and she placed her index and middle finger on both sides.
"Now I want you to close your eyes and remain calm," she instructed and I nodded, but before closing my eyes, I looked at Rene and she at me.
When I closed my eyes, I felt my heart rate escalate because if it was true that the seven of us actually met, then we were doomed.
Suddenly, I felt a bright light and was tempted to open my eyes.
"You may open your eyes, Frances," the lady's voice echoed and I did so.
When I opened my eyes, I noticed that everywhere was yellow and gold. Even the ground we stood on was gold. It felt like we were in space.
"Have you ever used your magic before?"
At the lady's question, I looked at her and nodded.
"You have a rare color," she pointed out before taking my hand in hers. And the moment she did that, six doors appeared in a row in different colors.
"Why are there six doors?" I asked her and listened as my voice echoed.
"There aren't six doors but seven, one is invincible," she said and I frowned as I tried to look for the seventh door but couldn't.
"This way," she led me to the last row and past the sixth door before waving her hand as if she was cleaning something away. And as she did that, the seventh door materialized itself and I blinked.
Each door had the following colors; Magenta, Navy blue, Brown, Orange, Maroon, Navy Green.
And the seventh door was Gold.
"Those six doors are the history you have with your friends, tagged according to their magical color," she explained and I nodded in agreement because Luke's magical color is Magenta while Rene's is Navy Blue and so on.
"This is your door and every history about you lies here," she said and I nodded.
When she touched the handle and pushed the door open, I became rigid because I didn't know what to expect.
"Don't worry, we're just here to find that missing memory and nothing more." She informed me and I sighed in relief.
When she opened the door and we went through it, I noticed that we were in a cloudy room with some touch of yellow dust around it. And like the previous one, this one had four doors.
"Why are there four doors?" I asked.
"Each of them holds many memories, for instance if we enter that one," she pointed at a milkish white door.
"We'll see how you came into existence and how you grew into a toddler and so on and so forth," she said.
"But we're here to enter that door," she pointed at a blank space and I sighed.
So there weren't actually four but five doors and one was invisible, again.
As we made our way to the door, I became restless.
"Don't be scared, Frances." She advised me as she waved her hand to make the door visible.
Once the door became visible to my eyes, I frowned because it was sandy brown in color, dusty and covered in spider webs.
"Are you ready?"
She asked but without waiting for me to give a reply, she twisted the door handle and pushed the door open…
