A multiverse story: The Quintessence

Chapter 2: two

In the same grim underground lab where their Sonic clone floated in suspension, the five polybodies of the reincarnator stood around a new project—one that looked far more primitive at first glance. The room hummed with energy as various scraps of metal, wires, and mechanical parts were scattered across tables. Among them were fragments of a toaster, a car engine, a scanner, and a gutted PC. Before them stood their latest creation—M.E.A.M. (Mission Execution and Accomplishment Machine).

The android's body was an amalgamation of seemingly random components. Its chest cavity was fashioned from the shell of a car engine, wires running like veins through its frame, connecting to a compartment designed for teleportation. It had parts of a scanner welded into its head to allow for advanced analysis, and its limbs were a mix of PC components and scrap metal, designed for dexterity and precision. But despite its crude appearance, M.E.A.M. was their greatest stealth machine yet, equipped with sophisticated teleportation technology that allowed it to carry stolen items directly back to the polybodies.

"Is it ready?" asked the Australian polybody, hazel eyes gleaming with excitement as he examined the android. "We need precision. Stealing the Spear of Destiny, a Mother Box, and Hal Jordan's power ring isn't a simple heist."

Kamaria, always the voice of reason, nodded but looked cautious. "It'll do. It's not about how it looks—M.E.A.M. is efficient. The teleportation compartment will bring us everything we need in a blink."

Natasha bounced around the room, her pale face lighting up with enthusiasm. "Let's send it out! I want to see it bring back something shiny!" she chirped, giggling at the thought of stolen treasures.

The grandfatherly man placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Patience, Natasha. Our toy has to do its job first." He then turned to M.E.A.M., almost like a father sending a child off to school. "Go. Retrieve the items."

Without a word, M.E.A.M. activated, its scanner-like head whirring to life. It disappeared in a shimmer of light, its teleportation feature taking it to the first target: Hal Jordan.

---

**In Coast City**, Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, was patrolling the skies when he felt a strange buzzing sensation around him. M.E.A.M. had materialized just behind him, nearly invisible to the naked eye, scanning the power ring on his finger. The android's head whirred and clicked as it analyzed the ring's energy source and capabilities before disappearing as swiftly as it had come.

---

**In Gotham**, the android appeared in the dark halls of the city's museum, where the fabled Spear of Destiny was displayed. M.E.A.M. reached forward with its skeletal hands, scanning the mystical artifact before teleporting it into the compartment within its chest. It vanished again, leaving only a faint trail of static in the security footage.

---

**At STAR Labs**, M.E.A.M. rematerialized in front of a heavily guarded room where a Mother Box was secured. After scanning the powerful alien technology, the android seized the box and teleported away before the alarms could even register its presence. Before it left, however, M.E.A.M. took the time to briefly scan the Phantom Zone projector kept in the adjacent room. The data it collected was invaluable.

---

Back in the lab, the polybodies watched through the security feeds, their faces illuminated by the faint green glow of the large TV screen. M.E.A.M.'s final mission brought it to **New York**, where it reappeared in the middle of a crowded street. The android was now hunting for something else—"Compound V."

Its voice, mechanical and dissonant, echoed through the chaos as it began wreaking havoc on the city. "Mission parameters updated. Searching for Compound V. Resistance will be neutralized." M.E.A.M.'s cold, calculated assault on New York caused destruction in its wake. Cars overturned, buildings crumbled under the weight of its blasts, and several civilians were left injured in the streets.

It wasn't long before the Justice League arrived on the scene. Flash tried to outmaneuver the android, but M.E.A.M. kept teleporting before he could land a blow. Wonder Woman's lasso wrapped around the android's torso, only for M.E.A.M. to teleport out of it. The battle raged for hours, as the machine adapted to the different attack styles of the League, its advanced scanning allowing it to predict their movements.

But it was **Superman** who finally ended the showdown. He locked eyes on the android and, after a moment of hesitation, unleashed his heat vision. The beams seared through M.E.A.M., dismantling its components and reducing it to molten scraps on the streets.

The battle was over, but as the pieces of the android cooled, **Batman** stood back, eyes narrowed. "It wasn't just a machine," he muttered. "It was gathering information."

---

Back in the underground lab, the polybodies watched through the now-static-filled TV. The destruction of M.E.A.M. played out on the screen, the aftermath rippling through the streets of New York.

There was silence for a long moment before Natasha broke it, whining loudly. "Our toy got broken!"

The grandfatherly man sighed, though a small smile crept onto his face. "Yes, quite a shame, really. It had so much potential."

Kamaria remained composed, but there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes. "It did its job, though. We have the scans, the artifacts, and the data. That was the real prize."

The Australian polybody smirked, leaning against the wall. "Exactly. We'll start replicating and analyzing everything. The Green Lantern's ring, the Spear of Destiny… even that Mother Box. We've gained more than we've lost."

The Japanese polybody, quiet for most of the exchange, suddenly perked up. "Dibs on the Phantom Zone projector schematics."

Kamaria raised an eyebrow but didn't argue. "Fine. I'll handle the Spear of Destiny."

As they divvied up the spoils of their operation, the five polybodies continued to plot their next moves. M.E.A.M. had been destroyed, but the real mission had been a resounding success. They now had access to technologies and powers beyond their wildest imaginations—tools they could use to push their agenda even further.
