Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Clan selection trial (4)

The boy frowned as Julius took the seal, and then they all came at him with their various weapons.

A stream of flames was shot toward him, along with various other spells, and with his calculated precision, he dodged all of them, weaving between the attacks fluidly like water.

He threw the flashbang again toward the students, and the moment the leader saw this, he covered his eyes and ears.

The flash went off again, and when he opened his eyes, he saw Julius already in front of him with a knee aimed at his face.

He was knocked away with that one attack, and then Julius went toward the other students.

The rules of this trial weren't very clear. Julius guessed that the elder, who was currently watching them, would act if a fatal strike was about to be made on another student.

Or they might not act at all.

He managed to grab a tag from all the students' backs, and then the others came toward him.

His swordplay seemed too precise as he countered every strike and dodged heavy attacks from hammers and axes.

From within a floating platform, the king and other members of the clan, along with high-ranking guards, stood watching the students on different screens.

"Not only did they go as a group, but they are easily being disposed of by the prince," Berlin said with a smile as he glanced at the king.

"A total of 120 students, and most of them grouped up for better chances," Margaret said, and then the king frowned as he didn't recognize the swordsmanship Julius used.

The queen with black hair and blue eyes, Freya, glanced at Julius with cold eyes.

"He's calm, even when facing multiple people. His swordsmanship is nothing out of the ordinary. It's too ordinary, in fact. It's just basic counters and basic strikes," the queen said in an indifferent tone, and the red-haired queen seemed angry as she saw it.

Freya glanced at her and smiled as she saw the expression the other woman had.

"I heard your son Cider was bullied by the once-talentless prince, Queen Mira," Freya chuckled as she said that, and Mira only sighed as she looked at the king.

The king exuded an aura of supremacy as the entire place seemed cold. His brown eyes moved from screen to screen as he weighed the performance of all the students present today for the event.

"Impressive," he said as he glanced at Julius' screen, and he could tell that the boy was strange.

"I heard you trained him, Berlin," King Karim said as he glanced at his brother, and Berlin smirked as he heard this.

"Yes, brother. Although his essence control is lacking, his talent for swordsmanship might be even superior to yours," Berlin said with a smile, and the king glanced at Julius again as he took out all of the students one by one.

Caesar and Anne too glanced at each other and looked at the other members present. Only they knew that Julius was going to die in this round.

---

Julius made sure not to hurt any of the students who came for him, using only his fists or knee to knock them out.

After he dealt with them, a large fireball knocked him toward a large wall at a corner, and he dropped the seal again.

'I can't catch a break,' he thought with a groan, and he stood up to see the student from before with a very angry expression coming toward him.

"I, Ferouz, second son of the noble house Escobar, will be the one to finally kill you, Fifth Prince Julius," the boy said, and then he ran toward Julius with an axe in his hand. Julius gritted his teeth as he stood up, and then Ferouz was ready to defend and attack.

To his surprise, Julius began to run away, lighting the grass on fire with his light powers, and Ferouz was too stunned to chase after him.

"Hehe... Hehehe... Hahahahahahaha! To think you'd run away in the face of death, how cowardly!" The boy grabbed the seal, and he ran in the same direction as Julius.

He soon stopped as he couldn't find Julius anywhere, and he began to walk away.

"I'll still get you, prince," he said before turning around.

On top of the tree he had walked past, Julius was there, observing his movements from above. He let out a sigh as the kid finally left, and then he glanced around.

'It's only the first day, and things are already this chaotic,' he thought as he relaxed on the branch of the tree and let out deep breaths.

'I'm close to Scheme 6 already, great,' he smiled as he then relaxed.

'Since Schemes 4 to 6 can be achieved with physical training, I'll continue tomorrow. I'm tired,' he thought before he climbed down from the tree and made his way back to the cave he had made for himself.

Just like he had judged, it soon started to rain, and he was able to stay at peace that night.

---

As soon as the rain stopped, Julius had already come out of the cave, and he was stalking another set of students who were by the river he had found earlier.

'I can't wait to break through. Before the others manage to get to the biggest creature before me,' Julius thought.

He wanted to break through to Scheme 6 before he began to look for a creature to get its seal.

He glanced at the few tags he had taken from the students yesterday and then let out a tired breath.

'At least all these people won't be able to attack me or interfere with me,' he thought, tucking the tags into his pocket.

That was the use of the tags; as long as you could get the tag of a person, they wouldn't trouble you anymore.

He was aiming for the strongest creature in this forest. Using his Eyes of Providence, he could already detect its presence within the river where the students were drinking from.

After resting for a bit, Julius finally moved out toward the lake after confirming that the other students had left the area.

He gazed into the water and sensed the magical essence coming from the creature.

'Wind essence. Peak of Tier 2. Should be at Scheme 13. This will be difficult,' he let out a breath, and then a book appeared above his hand as he gazed at the creature below the water.

[Commodity: Flowing Waters]

[Description:...]

'Ah...' Julius blinked as the information for the creature didn't come out.

'So I have to look at the target directly to use Omniscient Perspective... This will be difficult,' he thought to himself as he removed the strapped sword from his waist and tied it around his back.

As Julius tightened the strap on his sword, a low growl echoed from the water as it bubbled.

He glanced into the waters as he saw a huge shadow arising.

Suddenly, a light shot out the book which floated in front of him projecting some words.

{Julius wondered if he was ready for what was underneath. He thought hard about his plans, little did he know that he was taking a gamble for his life.}
