A Reader's Grimoire In A Novel World

Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Clan selection trial (7)

From the floating platform, Caesar smiled as he saw the creature there, and then the king and the others frowned.

"Wait, isn't that a Tier 3 Dreaded Eagle?" Sasha asked as she saw the speed it used to reach Julius, and then Margaret stood up as she saw it.

"How the hell did it get into the training fields?" Mira stood up as she saw it, and then the king nodded, and the elders flooded the place.

...

Despite the darkness, Julius could see the giant before him clearly with his eyes.

[Name: Black Dreaded Eagle King

Rank: Tier 3

Abilities: ???

Status: Extremely enraged after getting kidnapped.]

Julius wouldn't even be able to defeat it, no matter what. He turned to the middle page as he glanced at the creature.

He touched his neck as he felt himself slowly choking under the pressure of its aura. Its essence was overwhelming.

His brows furrowed as he saw a slight movement in its wing, and he put his sword to his side, blocking a swipe from its wing in that split second...

Ka!!

"Argh..." His eyes twitched as he felt the weight of the blow, and he was sent flying toward a large tree in the distance.

He glanced at his hand and could see a few bones sticking out of his flesh. He felt his mind shaken up.

His vision began to blur as his breathing rate increased. His eyes became unfocused as he felt himself getting weaker.

[The Omniscient attribute has reached level 5!]

[The Omniscient attribute has reached level 6!]

In that split moment, all his fear vanished, and his breathing steadied.

He saw the bird flying toward him at great speed. Different trees collapsed as the bird flew past them. Even some students were thrown off their feet.

Julius raised his active hand and summoned the grimoire again.

"I'll just start all over," he mumbled to himself as he flipped the pages.

BANG!!

He stopped as he heard a loud, terrifying screech from the distance. He looked over to see four people in black cloaks surrounding the bird.

A chain of lightning connected around the bird in different lines, forming a cube around the creature.

The sound of crackling lightning resounded in the area, and then the creature flew high into the air. The cube shrunk, along with the creature.

Julius blinked as he noticed all of this, and his lips twitched as he felt the pain in his arm.

He looked beneath his arm to see that blood had been seeping into the soil all this while.

'Hah... I hope I won't get disqualified because of this...' Julius thought as he recalled the rules.

'Anyone who doesn't survive would automatically be disqualified. If so, there should be a way to not make the students die permanently...' he thought, relaxing and looking up at the sky.

"What a crazy world I'm in," he mumbled as he continued to lie there.

An elderly man appeared beside him and carried him. Julius glanced under the hood to see a man with a scar across his face.

The man's golden eyes flickered like sparks of lightning. He glanced at the prince and seemed pleasantly surprised.

"Ah, I thought for sure you were dead. Can you speak?" the man asked as he flew into the air.

"Yeah, put me down," Julius said, and the man stopped mid-flight.

"You're badly injured..."

"I don't want to be disqualified," Julius mumbled, and then the man frowned.

'Hm... The royals didn't actually say that he'd be let off,' the man thought with a frown as he descended.

"It hasn't actually been declared that you'll be let off if you leave now, so I'll give you this..." The man put Julius down, then brought out a bundle of vials of different colors and gave Julius a purple one.

"It's not very strong. It'll take the arm a few days, but it'll slowly heal," the man said, and Julius took it.

He popped the cap with his teeth and drank the entire thing.

His right arm dangled lifelessly, and he could even hear the churning of his broken bones grinding against each other.

"Thank you," Julius said, and then he began to walk toward the river area where his small cave was.

The elder glanced at the boy, folded his arms, and shook his head as he pitied him.

"He already has such a strong will at a young age... Those eyes..." He recalled the look in Julius' eyes the moment he saw the prince's face.

'Cold, calculating. Even I felt scared when I saw him. And one of his eyes was normal too. Should I report this... He might be possessed,' the elderly man pondered as he stared at the prince, who walked normally despite his wrecked arm.

...

Julius got to his cave after more than twenty minutes of walking.

The bleeding on his arm had already stopped at this moment, and he frowned as he realized something.

'I only wanted the pain to stop, and I didn't analyze the potion...' He gritted his teeth, then brought up a world record.

Julius' face eased as he saw the status and his record, and he calmed down a little.

As he neared the cave entrance, he suddenly slowed down as he felt weak all of a sudden.

He felt pain in his left eye, and it was then that he realized he had kept the eye active far longer than he had ever done before.

He closed his left eye, tore a piece of his shirt, tied the eye, and then got into the cave to rest for a bit.

He closed the entrance with some leaves and lay there, relaxing as he paid attention to the surroundings.

He had only two more days until this round of the clan selection trial would be over.

Hopefully, he had a good place to stay.

...

One day passed in the blink of an eye, and Julius had been improving in his essence control, not even taking a break.

He glanced at a broken scale with a seal on it on the ground, and he walked toward it.

The image of the bird sweeping him away replayed, and the scale broke in that moment.

It wasn't anything serious, though.

'I should be able to restore it with this. I was able to get the pieces of my sword, so I'll fix it another time,' he thought, then opened the grimoire and used the spell by his will.

Under his watch, the scale came together as one again. He grabbed the black scale and cleaned it.

'There shouldn't be any trouble for now. It's a straight pass for me,' he thought, relaxing on a rock behind him.

He looked to the entrance as he heard a few footsteps splashing through water coming toward him. He stood up and pulled away the large leaf.

His brows furrowed a bit as he saw River coming toward his cave, and River noticed him too.

River glanced toward Julius' hand, then spotted the scale.

"The highest Tier 2-level creature wasn't found, so you were the one who took it down..." River said in a calm tone, stretching his hand to the side. A solid blade of ice formed.

"Hand it over."

Julius kept his eyes on his half-brother, ignoring the rain.

[Name: River Augustine

Rank: First Echelon Scheme 9...]

Julius frowned at the rank of his brother, weighing all his possible chances of escaping this encounter.
