Julius walked out of the castle into the main fields, which were behind and not facing the gates.
He could see a lot of buildings he had never seen before. In the distance, he noticed a large white dome and let out a breath, observing the immaculate surroundings, which were lit by the floating crystals in the air.
"Allow me to ask, but what exactly was that eye?" Elder Ragnar asked, and Julius looked back at him.
"What eye?" Julius raised a brow as he responded, and the elder observed him closely.
"Do not play with me. I saw one of your eyes take on a form different from that of a human's," Ragnar said. Julius felt a slight pressure on him, making it hard to breathe for a moment.
"I really don't know anything about what you're saying. Maybe it has something to do with the Stone of Rebirth?" Julius suggested. Ragnar frowned at his words.
Julius stopped to catch his breath as the pressure lifted, and the elder walked past him with a calm expression. Julius followed behind.
They soon arrived at the Treasury House, the huge dome in the middle of the clan grounds.
The royal clan's dome protects their most prized possessions, said to be even stronger than the entire royal palace, Julius thought as he stared at the large structure.
The elder drew a rune on the wall, and a door opened inward, causing a bright light to shine from within.
Julius followed the elder and entered the dome.
He halted his steps as he entered. Above him was a natural sky without the darkness that normally covered it. Blue skies stretched above, and a gentle, natural wind grazed his skin.
He saw all sorts of herbs and trees planted in the area, and a sweet fragrance graced his nose.
"Hm? Aren't you surprised or curious about the architecture?" the elder asked, noticing Julius's calm demeanor.
"Oh, no. Let's go to the Treasury," Julius replied as he walked past the elder, taking him by surprise.
Within the dome was not only the royal Treasury but also the royal family's primal garden, filled with rare fruits and herbs used by alchemists and merchants.
They soon arrived in front of a large hall, where six people, including River and his brothers, stood.
Cider glanced at Julius with a death stare, but Julius only looked away. Apart from the three royal princes, there were two others: Brooke, whom Julius had faced at the end of the battle royale, and a slim girl he didn't recognize.
"You're all gathered here. Very well, now," the elder said as he walked forward and pushed the doors open.
The crystals etched into the walls began to glow, and Julius could see many items radiating powerful magical essence.
Most of them were in glass cases, and he confirmed that these were legendary weapons.
The elder led them to another section with weapons that had less essence flowing from them compared to the legendary ones.
"You are only allowed to pick a weapon from this side," Elder Ragnar said, pointing to the weapons. The students and princes all moved forward to make their choices.
Julius began walking around, examining each item one by one.
It'll be advisable to pick a weapon that can accompany me throughout my life. Although I'll probably have a chance to pick a legendary weapon if I prove myself to my father. That'll be after I graduate from Midgard Academy, he thought as he inspected the weapons.
Julius glanced at Ragnar, noticing the elder was watching him closely. He turned his back and used the Eye of Providence to assess the weapons' essence potential.
Hm, there seem to be a few ninjatos here, he thought, his eyes widening. He walked past several weapons until he reached a ninjato that had no essence radiating from it at all.
The weapon was a meter long with a dark blade. Its hilt resembled a shuriken, and he immediately grew suspicious.
[Item: Aetherveil (Damaged)]
[Rank: Epic Grade]
[Description: Used by the leader of an ancient ninja clan to kill demons throughout his life. It has existed for over two hundred years and has lost durability. Although made of low-quality Mythril, it is still almost invincible.]
[Status: Damaged essence circuit, making it just a very sharp weapon.
Note: Fully restored version available.]
Julius smiled as he read the description. He opened the glass case, took out the blade and sheath, and secured it.
Elder Ragnar frowned as he noticed Julius's choice and shook his head.
"Prince Julius, are you sure of your choice? That sword is only good for its sharpness and cannot conduct essence," Ragnar said.
"I like it very much. Also, we're supposed to be seven here," Julius said as he walked past the elder.
"The princess has already received a legendary weapon after passing the royal tower trials," Ragnar explained.
---
Julius returned to his room at the end of the day and slumped onto his bed.
First plan complete. Now, how will I cope at the academy? The school is so strict, too, he thought, putting a hand on his chin before letting out a breath.
I better get some rest. Tomorrow is my coronation ceremony. This is one of my advantages in this world—I'm a prince. While most transmigrators I've read about start at the bottom, as long as I work hard and grow, my father will back me up. If things go my way, I might even be able to stop the first world war.
He gazed at the dark skies once more before settling in for the night.
Meanwhile, in the dimly lit chamber of the eldest prince, Caesar sat at his desk with a grim expression. The flickering light of a single candle illuminated his sharp features as he studied a map of the coronation grounds.
"It's a perfect opportunity," Caesar muttered under his breath, his fingers tracing over the marked positions of the guards.
"Their only job tomorrow is to successfully remove Julius, I hope they succeed. We have to cover up our traces." Caesar said while looking at a woman by a chair.
Yonder leaned against the wall, her arms crossed and a smirk playing on her lips.
"Let's just wait and see how it goes." Her black hair fluttered as wind came into the chamber.
Caesar's eyes gleamed with coldness as he looked at his table.
"And if it doesn't work..."
He reached into a drawer, pulling out a small vial filled with a swirling, dark liquid. "...at least this will make him lose his essence all over again."
Yonder chuckled darkly. "A clever move. But what if someone traces it back to us?"
Caesar shot her a sharp glare. "That's why we have Brooke. She'll deliver the vial and make sure it looks like one of Julius's own guard betrayed him"."
The two individuals exchanged a knowing look, their schemes set in motion.
Unbeknownst to them, a shadow lingered outside the room, silently retreating into the darkness.
