A small step on Hajime no Ippo

Author notes: Writing is not easy when a four-year-old kid tries to play with you, we just finished Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Fujii Pov

"Did he just move his head to the front?" Fujii smiled. "Hey, did you take the picture?" he turned to his helper.

He made a motion to check his camera "Yes I believe I did"

I turned my face to look at Makunouchi, 'The one with great eyes'

First Round – 2:05

Ichiro was on the floor a little dazed, he was waiting for the number 5 to get up, 'He screwed the hit point, I saw him, damn him'

At the count of seven Ichiro got up and put his guard up.

"That a crazy way to stop the counter," Fujii said out loud.

Ippo was panting in the corner 'He managed to resist, he's going to come' Ippo also put his guard up.

"BOX" Takamura shouted

"This fight is amazing," one gym guy from the public said.

Another one punched in the air "Come on kid, do it again"

"Go, go" most of them were pumped up.

Ippo went on the offensive. He went once again with his lefts, but this time, he didn't aim for the head. He remembered how Sora fought with Ichiro. Some of them went to the body.

Ichiro was blocking the punches, but his arms were hurting. He did a sidestep and held the ropes, using them to move.

Ippo turned to him and dashed in, but Ichiro threw a right directly to his face, Ippo ducked at the last minute, and threw an upper with all his body, the punch nailed in the face of Ichiro.

Most of the people gasped at the moment, a flash was seen in the background, but the head of Ichiro moved to the side and the punch slipped through his face.

Ichiro turned his waist and with a downward punch he smashed Ippo on his face, and he plummeted to the canvas.

Everyone was impressed, Takamura stepped in and started to count.

'Damn' was the collective thought.

Fujji turned to his helper once again "Did you take it?"

The helper turned his head sideways "I took the upper, but not the other punch"

"Waaaah another turnaround!"

"This is amazing"

"He's done for, check if he's alive"

Sora smiled "So that's an upper counter, it was just as Takamura did with Hawk"

Four… Five….

The coach was flabbergasted but he reacted "KID, STAND UP" 'He can't do it, it's impossible' the coach was shouting, but he knew that it wasn't possible for Ippo to get back.

But to challenge the mind of the coach, Ippo held the ropes and stood. He slowly put his guard up, and looked at Ichiro with a smile, "COME ON"

"YEAH"

"Show your might kid"

"Yeah, fight"

Sora was astonished "Did… did he just shout in the middle of a fight?"

Sora squinted his eyes 'I don't remember him doing that ever'

"BOX" Takamura moved his hands to keep them fighting but the Bell sounded just as both of them rushed to the middle.

Takamura moved and interrupted both boxers. "To your corners"

Kamogawa was still stunned. And Sora was the first to talk "Hey Ippo, good job on standing up, that counter was bad man, can you hear me?"

Ippo fell to the chair and nodded while trying to calm his breath.

Kamogawa recovered and went full coach mode "You got a down kid, but you need to put your guard, remember the work we did in secret, dodge with your shoulder in front, and keep the body blows hard, he's going to come harder on the second round"

Ippo listened with his head down, Sora was wiping his sweat, and touching his nose with an ice-cold towel.

Ippo looked ahead to Ichiro: "I couldn't manage to hit him like that in the past matches. This time, I got a down. In the last month, I have narrowed the distance. I want to fight forever, as long as I can keep standing. I can't sleep this through!"

Sora smiled "Yes Ippo, keep charging and use more concise punches, try to tire him with a full barrage of lefts"

Kamogawa put his hand on Sora's mouth "Stop, concentrate on defense, body blows, and your anti-counter.

Meanwhile on the other corner.

Miyata was massaging the shoulder of his son "So close, the counter to that upper should've finished him, he's strong, don't be discouraged, use your head, he's going to come and fight you to the body, keep on moving and use that to your advantage, even if I told you that isn't ready you will use it right?"

Ichiro smiled while panting "He's different, he has worked hard for this fight, I want to respect him, and this huge present will be my way to respect his effort"

Miyata sighed, and grabbed his glove looking him in the eyes "Remember… there are two elements to a successful counter… Timing and… Heart"

Ichiro looked at his father, and a silence grew between them but was broken by Ichiro "Timing and heart… Humph, of course, I just need to put more heart into it"

Second Round

The bell rang, Ichiro and Ippo, looked at each other and circled the boxing ring.

 "They both have roughly the same damage," the boy said to Fujii

Fujii looked at him and turned again "Yeah, but Makunouchi is at a disadvantage, Miyata only needs to grab the rhythm of the punches, now he can remember the timing, the counter is coming, if he doesn't have something more it's going to be hard"

"Ippo beat him up"

"Miyata finish him off"

"Beat him"

"Come on we want each other down"

Miyata went into the zone, and Ippo unleashed a barrage of lefts, but Ichiro went into a clock sidestep and dodged everything, Ippo didn't falter and kept the lefts coming, the legs of Ichiro want faster and he started to hit him between the punches, Ippo made a back step and put his guard up, he started to sway his body side to side.

Sora couldn't stop himself from shouting "No way! Dempsey?"

Kamogawa looked at him and frowned "Are you an idiot, he's trying to put his rhythm, what Dempsey…" but he interrupted his talk. 'A… the Dempsey... With his build? I would need to work his legs like a madman'

Sora slapped in his mind 'Stupid… of course, it's not, damn'

"Go go Ippo"

"Go go Miyata"

The boy next to Fujii smiled "Oh my! All of a sudden a cheering war"

Fuji was writing fast "I don't blame them, a fight with this level between two non-licenses, even I feel my blood boil, the kid was right. This is a Dream Match!"

Ichiro stopped the clock sidestep and opened his legs, Ippo stopped and took some seconds to gather strength in his arm, but Ichiro didn't let him recover, he dashed in and threw a lighting fast left, hitting Ippo on the right cheek, Ippo gritted his teeth and threw a punch after being hit, but Ichiro was already out of his reach, Ippo took a step ahead, Ichiro dashed once again when Ippo put his foot ahead and threw another fast left, but Ippo blocked easily, then he shoot a left body, hitting the air, because Ichiro back step at the final moment.

Ippo went ahead once again this time throwing punches into the air, Ichiro kept dodging but met the ropes. Ichiro smiled and put his guard down, clenched his fist, and waited for the opportunity.

Miyata clenched his fists "This is it"

Ippo started his combination, Left, left, left, right. Ichiro dodged two, blocked the third, and hit Ippo when the right came, but Ippo threw his head and diminished the power, Ichiro this time was prepared, Ippo threw a Left with more strength on it, Ichiro dodged, and clenched his fist to smash him with the counter.

Ippo threw the right with all his weight on it.

Ichiro moved the head and dodged easily, he moved his body to the front, his knees made an explosive dash and all his body weight went into the punch.

The Jolt appeared and Ippo's face went up, his back arched and took two steps back.

Ichiro smile cracked "No way! He resisted that?"

Miyata shouted "Go! Go! Go! It's your opportunity!"

Ichiro dashed into the zone with a motion to hit him with a left.

BAM!!!!

The mouthpiece of Ichiro fell to the canvas, he grabbed his stomach and kneeled.

Takamura moved to the center "DOWN, to your…"

BOOM! Ippo fell too.

Takamura was confused "Double Down?"
