Chapter 48
After I reluctantly pulled Cynthia away and turned her into a magical target as I wished, it finally reached noon, and the sun was directly overhead.
“*Heavy… breathing*… I got to see so many of Master’s spells… It was amazing…”
“I’m definitely not taking her as my disciple.”
I muttered this while looking in bewilderment at Cynthia, who was thrilled to have become a magical target. She was truly one of the top contenders for the title of “game’s foremost lunatic.”
But I still had to look after her for a bit longer. Just a bit more, and she would be gone, leaving Mea and me free to enjoy our time together.
“Hey, Mea, are you ready for afternoon tea?”
“Of course. Thanks to the space-expanding bag Jin-sama gave me, I was able to bring everything.”
I silently raised my fists in triumph. Mea’s sandwiches and cakes were exquisite, you know.
Thanks to Mea, I came to love tea.
As I eagerly waited, resting my head on Mea’s lap…
…Bam!
Something suddenly fell into the nearby flower field.
Annoyed, I reluctantly lifted my head from Mea’s lap and approached the fallen object.
“What the hell? Just when I thought we could finally be alone without any annoying distractions…”
“Sigh… That hurt.”
The dust settled, and from it emerged a man, his neck cracking as he did so. He was about two sizes larger than me in terms of body frame, but not excessively muscular. Nevertheless, you could tell he had been well-trained, even from the clothes he wore.
However, I knew this man well.
“What in the world… Brain Chronogate?”
“…? Do you know me? We’ve never met before, so you shouldn’t recognize me.”
Of course, I knew him.
Brain Chronogate.
He was the leader of the secret society known as the “Divine Human Genesis Society” and one of the world’s leading time-space mages. In other words, he was a villain in the same magical category as me.
By the way, I absolutely despised this guy.
As the name of his secret society implied, he was completely unhinged, and despite being a villain, he lacked any malice in his actions. He never believed he was doing anything wrong and staunchly held to the belief that he was righteous. What I disliked even more was that his speech and demeanor were somewhat similar to mine, which irritated me.
As I visibly grew more displeased, Brain noticed Cynthia and smirked.
“Well, isn’t this the perfect opportunity for some ‘fuel’…”
“Tch… [Teleport]!”
“Oh, now you won’t get away so easily — [Spatial Distortion]!”
As I attempted to teleport Cynthia and Mea away, Brain twisted the space around us to obstruct the teleportation. As a result, the scenery suddenly warped, isolating us from our surroundings. With this, escaping from this guy had become impossible.
But still… why did this guy come here? In the game, he should be at the academy… and his subordinates should be invading en-masse…
“Why are you here? You’re supposed to be at the academy…”
As I said this, Brain’s expression changed. His face turned emotionless, like a Noh mask, and I felt a surge of hostility and intimidation emanating from him.
“Jin Divinesword, why do you know about our plans? It’s true that my subordinates are currently invading the academy, but only the high-ranking members should be aware of this. Who are you?”
Brain interrogated me mercilessly. The intense killing intent emanating from his massive form and his suspicious, piercing gaze made me wonder if he intended to kill me.
Hmm… he’s certainly strong. As expected of one of the top-tier villains. He was probably stronger than the army girls. And his time-space magic was troublesome. His proficiency with time-space magic was likely on par with mine.
But that didn’t really matter.
I was sure that if I were to fight here, the game’s story would change even further. If that happened, my knowledge of the original storyline would become almost useless.
But none of that mattered.
I scoffed at Brain’s question.
“Hmph, who am I to answer your questions? And let me make this clear from the start. I dislike you. But… well, that’s not important. Just…”
I released all of my magical organs. Furthermore, I summoned the “Staff of Calamity” and, in response to Brain’s hostility, I didn’t just counter his killing intent, I surpassed it.
I created multiple layers of spears representing all elements, held them in place around me, and declared, “You’ll regret showing up here at this moment. I’ll crush your ambitions along with you.”
The sin of interrupting my intimate time with Mea was a grave one.
