Chapter 50: Chapter 50
"I'm afraid we were only able to stabilize her during the surgery," a doctor said. "Honestly even being a tribrid it's a miracle she's even alive right now, she sustained major injuries and I'm afraid we had no other choice but to put her in a medically induced coma," the doctor told her family.
"What about her healing or what if we used magic?" Piper asked. "Her healing still hasn't kicked in, and though I'm sure magic could work some miracles on her I don't believe it would be enough, right now the only thing keeping her alive is a machine" the doctor replied. "Are you saying she will never wake up?" Damien asked. "I am saying it is a possibility… her brain waves are still active meaning she is not braindead, so there is still hope, but unfortunately this is one of those cases where the longer she remains in the coma the higher the chance she will never wake up" the doctor explained.
"I'm very sorry" the doctor added before turning and walking away. Piper fell back onto the bench behind her. "I don't believe this" Piper whispered to herself. "She… she can't die there has to be something we can do" she added. "Mom," Damien said. "Technically speaking there is," he told her.
"What are you talking about?" she asked him "Unlike most hybrids Seraiya and I aren't automatically vampires although we have the venom in our blood," he told her. "If either of us die we will become full tribrids," he told her. "What are you saying?" Tyler asked. "If we let her die she will most likely become a full tribrid and heal" Damien answered. "But we're not sure about that" Zack cut in. "Like you said you and Rai were born with the venom in your blood but how are you so sure if you die you'll awaken that side of you?" he asked.
"It's the only remaining possibility," Damien told Zack. "But can we risk that?" Zack asked. "But then again if it does work and she becomes a full tribrid shell most definitely be able to stop Alvera," Tyler said. "This isn't right," Zack said. "I agree" Piper cut in. "If Damien and Seraiya are going to become full Tribrids it should be when they're ready, not when we want them to," Piper said.
"But doing this could save her… it could heal her" Tyler replied. "What's your opinion on this" Piper asked turning to daemon who leaned against a wall watching them Quietly. "Does he even deserve an opinion? What has he done other than stand quietly and watch her whole life" Tyler asked. "That's enough!" Piper snapped at Tyler.
"Please, daemon… what do you think we should do?" Piper asked. Daemon was silent for a moment. But to be fair when wasn't he? He was constantly observing everyone around himself his son and his daughter, as well as those around Piper. But if there was anyone there who knew what it was like to become a vampire it was him.
"I agree with Piper," he said. "It should be her choice and no one else's unless it is a last-case scenario," he told everyone.
Daemon walked a little down the hall and into the ICU. He walked to the first glass door and stared into the room where he saw his one and only daughter hooked up to all kinds of tubes. It was a sight he thought he would never see. It was a sight that was so much worse than she was dying 12 years ago yet seeing her laying unconscious in the bed brought him back to that time. Back to the time when he first thought she would die.
Yes… if anyone had the decision for whether she awakened her vampire side or not it was her and no one else. She deserved that much.
Seraiya sat Alone in what appeared to be a dark space. There was nothing but silence. She felt trapped yet what could she do? "Hello Seraiya," a beautiful female voice said from behind her. "Are you another figment of my imagination created to help me keep my sanity?" Seraiya asked not moving.
"No," the woman said. "I am very much real," the woman told her. Seraiya turned her head to look behind her only to see a beautiful woman with long white hair and pink-colored eyes.
"I remember you," Seraiya said. "You're the moon goddess, Selene" she added. "I am," Selene said as she sat down next to Seraiya. "You've had a tough life," Selene said almost as if she felt sorry. "No," said Seraiya "I've had a tragic life" she added. "I understand if you hate me," Selene told her. "I truly wish there was more I could have done to make you suffer less" she added. "You're a god… how could you not have done more? How could you watch as I was dragged across the world, beaten tortured... How could you watch as I was buried alive and forced to pull myself out of what should have been my grave… how could you not do anything even once to help me when you chose me?" Seraiya questioned.
No one in history has had the special treatment like the kind I've given you" Selene told her. Seraiya almost laughed. "You call that special treatment?" Seraiya asked. "You forced a five-year-old girl to choose between living and dying just for her to suffer her whole life when she chose to live," Seraiya said. "But that's what you call special treatment right?" Seraiya asked. "I told you it wouldn't be easy," Selene said. "But you didn't say I would lose the person I loved most in the world and you sure as hell didn't say I would die" Seraiya replied.
"Your not dead" Selene said looking at her. "Not yet anyway" she added. "Why are you even here?" Seraiya asked. "What made the great goddess of the moon come to me?" she asked. "I created you for 2 reasons," Selene said. "The first was to change the fate the other gods gave to your brother, the fate to bring chaos into a world that cannot handle it," Selene told her. "The second was to deal with someone I made the mistake of creating the very first piece of my heart I gave the world," Seraiya told her.
"You mean Alvera?" Seraiya asked. "Yes," Selene told her. "Do you know how I can stop her… how I can kill her?" Seraiya asked. "The answer that you're looking for lies with in the beginning of her story, the reason she became Alvera…"
Selene told her.
