After changing, Shen Linlin twirled in front of Shen Lang on the sofa. "How do I look, big bro? Is it nice?"

Shen Lang glanced up and immediately frowned.

Shen Linlin was wearing a gray fleece-lined coat, with a white shirt that had a black bow tie collar underneath. Her lower half was a gray-black waist-cinched plaid skirt, and her long, smooth legs were clearly visible, even reflecting a bit.

"What are you wearing? Go change into something else."

Shen Lang frowned in distaste. "It's freezing outside. You can't just go out with your legs bare. People will think you're crazy."

If it were any other girl dressed like this, Shen Lang might enjoy the view and even hope she wore less. But this was his sister, and he definitely didn't want her going out like this.

Reluctantly, she went back to her room and put on a thick, long padded down jacket, covering her long legs, and came out looking unhappy.

"This is better."

Shen Lang nodded in satisfaction, then added with a smile, "What's up with your hair? It looks like a dog chewed it."

Shen Linlin touched her hair, which had become frizzy, probably from static electricity after putting on the down jacket.

She went back to her room to get a comb and sulkily handed it to Shen Lang. "You comb it for me. It's hard to do with the jacket on."

"I swear, you're something else."

Shen Lang sighed and took the cartoon comb, setting his phone aside.

Shen Linlin quickly brought a small stool, sat with her back to Shen Lang, and kept her slender back straight.

As Shen Lang combed her messy hair, he teased, "Aren't you embarrassed, Linlin? You're all grown up and still let your big brother comb your hair. If your friends knew, they'd laugh their heads off."

"I don't care. Why should I be bothered about it?"

Shen Linlin huffed, unconcerned.

Shen Lang couldn't see her face, but from her confident tone, it seemed like she was in a good mood.

"I wish you were as obedient as Shen Ranran."

Shen Lang shook his head with a wry smile. "Forget the parents. I'm worried about you. How will you find a boyfriend with that attitude?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Linlin suddenly moved to sit on the edge of the stool between Shen Lang's legs and leaned into his arms.

This unexpected small frame left Shen Lang a bit taken aback. "What are you doing? I haven't finished yet."

"Bro!"

Leaning into Shen Lang's arms, Shen Linlin's voice was full of grievance. "Am I really your sister?"

Shen Linlin complained, feeling wronged.

"Shen Ranran gets all the praise from Mom and Dad. She's good at studying, and it makes me feel like an outsider."

Shen Linlin's heartfelt words caught Shen Lang off guard. This was the first time she had been so open and honest.

It's pretty normal, though. In Chinese families, parents usually focus on academic performance, especially with daughters.

Shen Ranran's good grades and sweet demeanor meant she grew up getting praised a lot. Shen Linlin, on the other hand, struggled with grades and was often mischievous.

It's impossible to say the parents didn't favor one daughter over the other; it's just the way it is.

Shen Lang grew up sandwiched in the middle, hearing the most from his parents: "Linlin, can't you be as obedient as your sister? If only you were half as smart as her."

Having been used to this, Shen Lang naturally ended up favoring Shen Ranran more.

Shen Lang pulled his legs together, letting Shen Linlin sit on his lap. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her slim waist and leaned in to look at her sad face, sincerely apologizing.

"I promise I won't be biased anymore. I'll treat you both the same from now on, okay?"

Feeling Shen Lang's hand on her waist, Shen Linlin was taken aback and shyly clasped her fingers, saying in a demure tone, "I wasn't asking for special treatment. I just wanted Dad, Mom, and you to be fair to me. I'm part of this family too."

"Yeah, you're right."

Shen Lang nodded earnestly. "I'll take better care of you from now on, making up for the lack of attention before."

"Hmph, that's better."

Shen Linlin's face brightened instantly, breaking into a joyful smile.

The next second, she realized she was sitting on Shen Lang's lap with his arms around her waist, and her face flushed as she murmured, "Bro, is this really okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. Let's go. I'm starving."

Shen Lang, showing no sympathy, pushed Shen Linlin off and handed her the comb. "Hurry up and change your shoes. I'm hungry."

He headed for the door, ready to catch the elevator.

Shen Linlin closed the door, ran up to him, and playfully jumped on his back, hugging his neck affectionately.

Their closeness felt just like when they were kids.
