Chapter 58 - II
Jing Zheng attributed this emotion to habit. After all, Zheng Xuran had been with him for three years, so it was normal for him to not get used without the man for a while.
But this emotion did not weaken as time went by, but intensified, almost overwhelming him. At this time, Jing Zheng had to face the problem: he was missing Zheng Xuran.
This was absolutely ridiculous. Jing Zheng had never had such emotions since he could remember. He seemed to be born with no emotions. He could change lovers easily and never dragged his feet for them, but he couldn’t cut off his longing for Zheng Xuran.
Jing Zheng thought this was simply unbelievable. These things like “missing, love, and liking” were very unfamiliar to him. He thought that his feelings for Zheng Xuran were appreciation, but what was there to appreciate about Zheng Xuran?
He was good-looking, but there were many people more beautiful than him; he was very capable at work, but not perfect; his behavior in bed was anything but charming, but Jing Zheng’s desire for him was abnormally strong.
This was very wrong.
‘So, if he peels back the layer of appreciation, what are the strong emotions hidden underneath?’
Jing Zheng thought about this issue seriously for the first time after driving away Zheng Xuran.
He put down the contract and kept thinking about it in his study until eleven o’clock at night, but he still couldn’t come to a conclusion. But he was sure of one thing. He would bring Zheng Xuran back first and then make long-term plans.
Waste was just waste. It was not like the Jing family couldn’t afford to raise a waste. Anyway, just looking at it was quite pleasing to the eye.
Jing Zheng thought like this and called his assistant, “Send tomorrow’s schedule to a later date. I’m going to Gu Huai’s place tomorrow.”
The assistant was not surprised and dutifully arranged tomorrow’s schedule.
.
Jing Zheng arrived at Gu Mansion early the next day, and Gu Huai expressed surprise at his arrival. Jing Zheng didn’t tell him the reason for his visit straight to the point; he just discussed a recent business with him.
Gu Huai chatted with him for half an hour without knowing why before Jing Zheng asked intentionally or unintentionally: “Where is Zheng Xuran? I heard that he is living with you now.”
Gu Huai was stunned for a moment, and then he understood. Looking at him, “Don’t tell me, you want to take him back, huh?”
Jing Zheng didn’t answer him directly, and in fact, he wasn’t sure what to do.
Gu Huai looked at him for a few seconds, then waved to the maid and asked her to bring Zheng Xuran over.
Maybe the maid didn’t tell him who the visitor was, so when Zheng Xuran saw Jing Zheng, his eyes were surprised for a moment.
Jing Zheng’s eyes fell on his legs and wheelchair, and he felt inexplicably uncomfortable. He wanted to ask how Zheng Xuran’s injuries were, but he didn’t know how to care about people. Although he was comfortable in the business world and could handle the romantic world with ease, he had not yet learned how to care about someone sincerely.
So, he couldn’t speak.
Zheng Xuran asked Gu Huai with his eyes. Gu Huai shrugged and said sarcastically: “Perhaps when Mr. Jing came to talk to me about an insignificant business, he suddenly remembered the former assistant he abandoned, so he called him out to take a look.”
Mu Ci’s fiancé, Gu Huai, was happy to share his hatred and stab Jing Zheng in the heart.
Jing Zheng’s face was a little ugly, “I didn’t abandon him.”
Then he turned to Zheng Xuran and said in his usual unquestionable tone: “I have suspended the transfer procedures of the house. You go back to live with me today. I plan to set up a medical team, maybe we can cure your leg.”
He was still calm when he said this because he believed that as long as he spoke, Zheng Xuran would follow him. Because this was his loyal puppy, no matter how much he kicked or scolded him, as long as he whistled, he would come back wagging his tail.
Zheng Xuran walked forward in his wheelchair. He didn’t seem to hear what Jing Zheng said behind him. He looked at Jing Zheng calmly and said politely but distantly: “No, Mr. Jing, if the transfer procedures are suspended, I will not go back with you.”
Jing Zheng’s eyes widened slightly. He thought he hadn’t made it clear, so he repeated it slowly, “I mean to ask you to move back, move back to me.”
“I have resigned…” Zheng Xuran looked at him indifferently, his eyes were very calm, like a pool of stagnant water. “I haven’t gone through the resignation procedures, but it’s not necessary… By the way, Mr. Jing, I’m going to find a new job in a few days, I hope I can get your letter of recommendation. After all, it will be difficult for me to find a job like this.”
Jing Zheng looked at him in disbelief. This was the first time he felt very flustered, as if something was about to slip away from his hands. He never thought that one day Zheng Xuran would look at him like this. All those admirations and attachments were gone. Zheng Xuran looked at him now as if he were a stranger! This was something Jing Zheng absolutely could not bear!
“Xuran…” Jing Zheng took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and said sincerely, “I admit that I did something wrong. I shouldn’t have forced you to pick me up when you were unwell, let alone throw you away in the hospital.”
He looked at Zheng Xuran and said something that he would never be able to say in his life. Even Gu Huai was shocked. Jing Zheng said: “I’m not asking you to come back as an assistant, but as a lover, just come back and live with me.”
Jing Zheng was not sure before he came, but when he saw Zheng Xuran again, he was almost overwhelmed by the feeling of longing for him. He confirmed at that moment that he had lived for more than twenty years and finally fell in love with someone.
As long as Zheng Xuran could come back, he was willing to cut off all relations with other lovers, was willing to support him in vain, would not let him do any work, and would never punish him again if he made a mistake. It didn’t even matter if his leg couldn’t heal. Jing Zheng was willing to support him for the rest of his life.
But Zheng Xuran just looked at him indifferently, turned to leave in his wheelchair. His heart had been so closed that no matter how sincere Jing Zheng’s confession was, he couldn’t get in.
It was too late; he was hurt enough.
Seeing that he was about to leave, Jing Zheng quickly stood up and chased after him. Suddenly, a white light flashed in front of his eyes. Mu Ci had arrived in the living room without knowing when, and a butterfly knife in his hand was pressed against Jing Zheng’s neck.
“If you take another step forward, don’t blame me for taking action,” Mu Ci stared at him coldly.
Gu Huai gloated from behind, “Okay, honey, don’t hurt the guests.”
Mu Ci snorted coldly, took back the knife, turned around, and pushed Zheng Xuran away.
Gu Huai patted Jing Zheng on the shoulder and said sympathetically: “Brother, it seems that your road to chasing a wife is much more difficult than mine.”
Jing Zheng turned a deaf ear to his words and just stared at the place where Zheng Xuran left.
He never realized that this person who always followed him step by step would leave him one day without looking back.
