Chapter 66 - Extra: Mr. Gu Has A Lot of Experience in Dealing with Gangsters II
Today, after lunch, Mu Ci, seemingly with nothing else to do, checked Weibo. He saw several malicious comments under the video:
“At first glance, it looks like he’s had plastic surgery… or maybe it’s just makeup…”
“The guqin sounds like a recording, and the fingering is wrong.”
“What kind of clothes are those? I’ve never heard of this brand before, is it Shan?”
“The house looks nice, so young, he must be a kept…”
It stung.
Mu Ci was at a loss. He didn’t understand why complete strangers would attack him so viciously. He patiently explained one by one:
“I never wear makeup except for work.”
“I played the guqin myself. I’ve been playing since I was a child.”
“The clothes are custom-made.”
“I’m not a pet, I have a job.”
He was still upset, and even sent a private message to one of the persons, asking if he had done anything to offend him and why he said those things.
The person was incredibly arrogant. He started insulting Mu Ci without any provocation. Mu Ci typed slowly, unable to match the other person’s pace. Though he had faced much adversity since childhood, this was the first time he had been attacked by a stranger on the internet. The assault left him unable to control his emotions, and he found himself crying in anger.
When Gu Huai came back in the afternoon, he found Mu Ci with red eyes, sitting on the sofa in a daze. Upon inquiry, he learned the whole story. He quickly took Mu Ci into his arms, comforting him carefully, and then coaxed him to eat dinner and go to bed. He also asked Bai Ling to find the person responsible.
Bai Ling, a top student in online detective work, quickly tracked down the culprit’s IP address and presented it to Gu Huai, seeking recognition.
Gu Huai, however, gave him a cold look. “Bring him to me when you find him.”
Bai Ling had no choice but to deploy the personnel in the middle of the night. Fortunately, the culprit was in the same city. Bai Ling arranged for four people to pry open his door and tied him up with a sack.
The man was probably half-asleep and was rudely awakened. Suddenly, several people broke in without explanation, pushed him down, and threw him into a car. He didn’t even have time to put on his shoes!
After catching the person, Bai Ling sought acknowledgment from Gu Huai. But Gu Huai simply nodded and returned to the house.
Bai Ling followed him, confused. “Boss, aren’t you going to see him?”
“What’s there to see? It’s so late. I’m going to hug my wife and go to sleep.” Gu Huai pushed Bai Ling out of the door. “Go on, don’t disturb us. Lock that man up overnight. I’ll deal with him tomorrow.”
.
The next morning, Gu Huai got up early. Mu Ci usually slept a lot, so he was still asleep. Gu Huai leaned over, kissed him gently, got up quietly, tidied up briefly, and went out.
The man he captured last night was still locked up in the basement. As soon as Gu Huai entered, he saw him huddled in a corner like a frightened rabbit. His pajamas were stained with mud and water, and he didn’t even have slippers on his feet.
Gu Huai glanced at him. He was a young man in his twenties, and his face looked somewhat familiar. Gu Huai had an excellent memory and would never forget anyone he met. After recalling for a while, he suddenly remembered that this person was the one who had first surfaced when he searched Mu Ci’s name online, a minor celebrity.
This was truly bizarre. The person lying in his room was named Mu Ci, and the one in front of him was also called Mu Ci.
The little star woke up and started making a fuss when he saw Gu Huai. “What are you doing? This is kidnapping! Do you know who I am? Believe it or not, I will sue you!”
Gu Huai frowned, genuinely wondering how someone could be so oblivious to their situation.
Bai Ling came over and reported his identity information in a low voice. “This person’s real name is Mu Ci, and he is a little-known star. But later, his manager felt that this name was too cold, so he changed his name to Mu Xiaoxing.”
Gu Huai sneered. “It’s good that he changed his name. Otherwise, I’d be really worried if I couldn’t handle him with that name.”
Mu Xiaoxing continued yelling and cursing, prompting Bai Ling to motion to the bodyguards on the side to silence him. They slapped him twice to shut him up, then turned to Gu Huai. “I think it’s because they have the same name, and this person is jealous. Your wife was already famous as a model, and then he became even more famous because of that video. After a while, he probably felt that Mu Ci had stolen his limelight, so he said those nasty words.”
Gu Huai looked at Mu Xiaoxing critically, stepped forward, grabbed his hair, and pressed his face hard onto the cold floor. “Keep shouting. Aren’t you a good screamer on the internet? Why are you mute now?”
Mu Xiaoxing, trembling with fear, quickly begged for mercy. “I was wrong, I was wrong. Please, let me go. Do you want ransom or something else? I’ll give it to you…”
“Why would I need those things?” Gu Huai released his grip, almost laughing at the sight of Mu Xiaoxing’s painted face with tears and snot. “I’m a kind-hearted person, and I don’t plan to do anything to you today. You just need to do one thing: apologize to that person named Mu Ci online. Got it?”
Mu Xiaoxing, relieved at the chance to escape, nodded vigorously. “Definitely, definitely!”
“And…” Gu Huai’s voice turned cold. “Next time I see you making any unpleasant comments, I’ll take action. Understood?”
Mu Xiaoxing, too frightened to speak, nodded again.
Gu Huai waved to the bodyguards. “Okay, throw him back.”
Then he left without looking back.
.
During lunch, Mu Ci suddenly said, “That person on the internet apologized to me.”
“Oh?” Gu Huai pretended ignorance. “What did he say?”
“He said that I play the guqin very well. He admitted it was his fault before. He told me he was sorry and asked me to forgive him.” Mu Ci looked at his phone with confusion. “Why did this happen all of a sudden?”
“Who knows? Maybe it’s his guilty conscience.” Gu Huai gently took Mu Ci’s phone away. “Okay, focus on eating. Playing phone while eating isn’t good for your stomach.”
Mu Ci was still a little puzzled, struggling to understand this strange turn of events. In the end, he could only attribute it to the inherent kindness in human nature.
