All For One in the Marvel-verse

Chapter 1: The House of Ideas

In the early morning hours, a young man lay on his bed, his computer casting a soft artificial light that illuminated his face in the dark room. He fought exhaustion, his curiosity driving him down the rabbit hole of his momentary obsession. I'll go to bed after I look up this one thing, he promised himself as he clicked on the Marvel Wiki page and found the page on The One Above All, the supreme god and creator of the Marvel Multiverse.

However, as he did, the lights on his computer screen began to flicker dangerously. They strobed and flashed brightly, blinding the young man who used one hand to shield his eyes while quickly decreasing the display brightness with the other. Finally, when it was over his screen was filled with glowing golden lines that almost appeared like cracks in the screen of his computer.

"What the hell?" he questioned.

After a moment of consideration, he gave the machine a solid smack and gently began to massage the screen. He closed his eyes and hoped for a miracle, that somehow, this could fix the cracks in his screen. Unfortunately, when he opened his eyes, the glowing lines only seemed to have spread and grown more pronounced. They were thicker, seeming to entrench themselves 'deeper' into the screen and computer.

Realizing that he might have messed up, the young man sighed and rubbed his eyes. When his eyes were closed, the golden cracks began to pulsate faster and faster until the man opened his eyes to see them pulsate once last time. When they stopped, something shattered. It was not the computer screen.

Golden light illuminated the dark room as brightly as the sun. The young man opened his mouth to scream, but he couldn't. At the heart of the golden light was a window where the screen and Wiki article had been, through which the radiance was pouring. From the window in space, a sickly green tendril cut through the radiance and wrapped around the young man then pulled him down through the window.

Instantly, pressure assaulted him as he was squeezed through the window. It felt as though he were ten thousand leagues under the sea. His head felt like it would explode while he couldn't breathe. There was no space for his chest to expand. It was like his chest had caved in and his lungs had been punctured. Similar pain, searing pain, all-consuming pain lanced through the young man as he slipped through the boundary of universes and appeared somewhere else.

Luckily, the pain was momentary, or else it would have driven him mad. His mind could barely even comprehend a fraction of the experience, which likely saved his life.

Aside from the pain, he dully perceived that he had emerged into a realm of brilliant radiance as he was fully dragged through the window. There was no time to process the sight as the green tentacle kept hold and began pulling him down through the luminant realm. Yet, before it had gotten even a dozen feet, a glittering piece of silver screamed through the air and severed the tentacle.

The young man was finally left alone for a moment, breathing heavily. Too much had happened in just a split second for him to comprehend. Yet, he forced himself to look up. The flying piece of silver that saved him from the tentacle turned out to be a glittering fountain pen. Its sharpened tip dripped a greenish-black substance where it was embedded in a...cloud?

After a few moments and many more deep breaths, the young man finally understood the gravity of his circumstances. Thus, he quickly shot to his feet and looked at the 'window' he had come through. While it had shrunk considerably, he could still see through it. The sight on the other side was grim, making him clench his teeth in confusion and fear.

There, he saw his own corpse lying in bed, his computer still open. Lifeless eyes looked on sightlessly back toward himself. Unable to bear the sight yet unwilling to turn away, he watched the portal close rapidly before sinking to his knees. However, when he expected to see flesh and blood when looking down, he only found a ghostly form where his arms, legs, and chest should be.

Before the young man could have a complete mental breakdown, the light in the realm suddenly flashed once more. This flash of searing light wasn't blinding. It merely caused a drastic change in the surroundings.

When the light died, there was no longer a realm of clouds and pure light. The young man now found himself seated in a plush chair that he sank into comfortably. Around him, bookshelves extended in neat rows as far as the eye could see. Looking up, the rows extended well past what should have been possible, only fading into obscurity at the limit of his vision.

The most striking sight wasn't the massive, possibly infinite, library but the being seated opposite him. It was as though all the light in the universe had been distilled into a single pure being that was the perfect cut out of a human being. It wasn't so much that you could see where he was, but you looked to see where he was not. You could only glimpse his outline. To try and stare into the center of his being was to have your mind and very soul ripped apart by all the knowledge of the multiverse.

"I must admit, the form you perceive me in is quite striking. I like it," the being mused in a gentle yet authoritative voice. I might assume this form when approaching some of my creations."

"Who...or what...are you?" the young man asked, unable to stop shaking, not out of fear but in awe.

There was a moment of silence as the being took a moment to respond. As it did, a book from a nearby shelf flew off, flapping its two covers like wings. The book flew toward the young man, gently gliding down to settle in his lap. Curiously, he looked down at the cover, where a single word was printed in an all-too-familiar red font.

MARVEL

"I am The One Above All," the being said with a shrug, "Creator of the Marvel multiverse."

"Then this is..." The young man began—awe and existential dread washing over him in equal parts.

"The House Of Ideas and the center of the Marvel Multiverse." The One Above All (TOAA) confirmed.

"How am I here?" the young man asked.

"That is a good question," TOAA said, crossing one leg over the other as he leaned back in the chair, putting his fingers together. "Whatever the reason may be, it is undoubtedly that I played a role in it by mistake or by an outer force."

"Mistake? Outer force? Aren't you omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient?" The young man asked incredulously.

For a moment, he feared that he had disrespected the being, but TOAA merely laughed before leaning forward in his seat. It seemed that if his face were visible, it would have a knowing smile on his face.

"Only within the domain of my creation. The Marvel Multiverse is just a small part of an even greater tapestry of universes and multiverses. You should know this better than most since you're not in your original universe anymore," TOAA said.

"Am I stuck here?" the young man began, "As a...soul?"

"This is where we reach the part I can help you with. Traveling back to your original universe is impossible, even for me to help you with, not without eons of effort. I am busy observing and guiding my creations, but I am nothing if not sympathetic.

I am indirectly responsible for your fate, so I will allow you to join my creations and be reborn amongst them. If you wish, that is." TOAA said, extending a hand atop which a human heart formed and began to beat slowly but steadily.

"I don't want to sound ungrateful for your generous offer, but do I get any boons or powers to aid in my journey or reincarnation?" The young man asked hopefully.

"I can arrange that, but I caution you that power comes with a price. You can choose any and all powers or boons you wish, but every force has its counterbalance. As it is, you have already met mine."

"The tentacle?" The young man asked.

"Yes."

TOAA seemed unwilling to expand on this subject, making the young man suspicious and uneasy, but beggars can't be choosers.

"Any power or boon?" the young man confirmed, switching topics.

"Anything, but some things cost more than others. It may not always be a physical cost too. Luck, placement in the multiverse, power cap, and much more. Everything can be the cost for a boon or power." TOAA cautioned.

"Alright, can you tell me the price for what I asked for before accepting it?"

"Sure, your nature as an outsider gives me some leeway to break some of my own rules, but I still can't tell you everything. I can say how much the costs will impact you and in what way."

"Can I have a moment to think?" the young man asked.

"Take as long as you need," TOAA said, picking up a book and began to skim through its contents, appearing to wait for the young man's decision.

After taking a while to consider, the young man spoke up once more, "I have a few ideas, but I want to ask what are boons that you think are vitally important for me to choose?"

"Well, I would say that you need to take a boon to count as a native of any universe you inhabit. That should make things much more manageable. Also, I would suggest a power with a high capacity for growth with only one or two boons. Any more than that might end your journey before it can begin properly." TOAA said, putting down his book.

"Alright," the young man said with a deep breath, "I want two boons. The first is what you mentioned, being a native to each universe I inhabit. Second, I want to be fateless with no set destiny or future. Lastly, for my power, I want to have All For One from MHA...if you know what that even is."

"Don't worry. I can read your mind and know exactly what you intend with each of these requests." TOAA said, "However, what do you want OFA to work on? Mutant powers? Godly powers? Infinity stones? Magic? I'll need to set limits for it."

The young man thought for a moment, pondering everything. It'll be too risky to do anything more than Mutant powers. Those are already overpowered enough. It would be nice to get access to some magic, too, though.

"I've decided for it only to work on Mutant powers." the young man said eventually, "But I also have another question."

"Of course, ask away."

"Can I limit my talent with magic to boost my affinity and power with a specific type of magic or spell?"

"I don't see why not," TOAA said as if he already knew where this was going and found it amusing...which he already knew, of course. He's omniscient, after all.

"In that case, I want to limit my talent with all magics except for creating portals. I can manage any reality-warping shenanigans through mutant powers, so I think I can manage without magic." the young man said boldly.

"Done." TOAA said, "As promised, I will tell you some general details about the cost of these powers. Frankly, you won't affected too badly by anything other than OFA, which will leave you looking like a heavily scarred, white-haired Tomura Shigaraki from the War Arc. No cosmetic surgery, hair dye, body swapping, regeneration, or any similar method will change your appearance.

The other major thing is that you will start in a very tough starting universe. Honestly, it will be pretty risky to survive there, but it will be possible. Just know that the timeline being reset in the past won't affect your present. Divergences like that only branch the timeline from the past, so the future isn't automatically fixed.

Are you okay with this or do you wish to change powers?" TOAA asked

"I am willing to accept the risks," the young man said, sighing in relief that he didn't add any more. It already seemed like he would have it rough at the start.

"One more thing," TOAA added, "I'll throw in an extra mini boon for you that won't cost anything. You will inherently know which Universe you are in and some basic details."

"Thank you," the young man said, genuinely thankful.

"Here we go!" TOAA said, snapping his fingers, "You're going to Earth-811, by the way."

With that, everything vanished, and the young man's eyes widened as he processed what was said.
