American Comics: Multiverse of Madness

Chapter 479: 479. Deal Reached!

Late at night.

In a secret base at an unknown location, amidst the rubble, Soldier Boy, naked, was panting heavily, his muddled mind gradually clearing up.

Various strange smells, a mixture of chemicals, gunpowder, and blood, invaded his nostrils. The scent made Soldier Boy wrinkle his brow in distaste.

Looking around silently, observing the destruction he had caused, Soldier Boy's fragmented memories began to resurface.

Whether it was due to his disoriented state after just waking up, or by accident, Soldier Boy realized that in his earlier attack, he hadn't targeted the lab's entrance, but had instead blasted directly toward the military base's ammunition storage.

The destructive energy tore through everything in its path in the blink of an eye. Even the strong walls couldn't withstand the intensity of the blast. In just a breath, a massive hole was blown through them.

The energy didn't stop there. It quickly detonated the ammunition storage hundreds of meters away, causing a chain reaction of explosions and booming sounds.

The soldiers outside didn't even have time to react, as they were instantly engulfed by the flames. The shockwave from the explosions flattened all the surrounding buildings.

With a single strike, the military base was reduced to rubble.

Soldier Boy's eyes gradually became deeper as he clenched his fist, his expression shifting from calm and confused to increasingly sinister.

"Crimson Countess... The TNT Twins."

As his memories became clearer, Soldier Boy quickly recalled the entire sequence of events.

Decades ago, before the war had ended, he had followed the orders of the Vought Corporation, leading his squad to support a U.S. special military task force.

He would never forget the situation back then. Everything had seemed perfect. Soldier Boy never believed there was an enemy who could harm him or anyone he couldn't defeat.

Wherever he went, the enemy would suffer.

He was Soldier Boy, and he would be the greatest hero in American history!

However, when the erratic Swatto once again disobeyed orders and triggered the enemy's radar, exposing their position, everything changed.

The enemy launched an airstrike, bombarding their secret base with intense artillery and missiles, indiscriminately tearing everything apart like plowing a field. This dealt a devastating blow to the military.

Of course, if it had been only that, Soldier Boy wouldn't have cared. With his strength, artillery fire was no more than a tickle to him.

But just as he prepared to counterattack, his teammates, those he trusted the most, turned on him. They attacked him when he wasn't prepared.

Crimson Countess, the woman he had loved; Gunpowder, his best punching bag; the TNT Twins, the useless siblings he despised; Mindstorm, the mad old fool he hated; and Black Noir, the trash he didn't care about.

"Fine, very fine."

Grinding his teeth, Soldier Boy's mouth let out a screeching sound.

As he recalled the decades of torment he had endured in the research base, the murderous intent in his eyes grew stronger.

"You're going to make them pay, right?"

At that moment, a strange voice suddenly rang out from behind Soldier Boy.

Frowning slightly, Soldier Boy could tell the accent wasn't from a "local." He silently turned around to see a man with a scruffy beard and a black jacket smiling at him.

The man stood in the ruins just like Soldier Boy, though he was ragged and covered in dust, as if he had just crawled out of the desert.

"Who the hell are you?" Soldier Boy said coldly.

"William Butcher, the one who saved you from this hellhole," Butcher said, spreading his arms to gesture at the surrounding rubble before laughing softly. "By the way, no need to thank me."

Soldier Boy furrowed his brow, his mind still hazy. He rubbed the back of his head and said, "I asked, who the hell are you?"

"Someone who can help you get revenge," Butcher answered quietly.

Hearing this, Soldier Boy paused for a moment. Although his eyes still held hostility, his expression seemed to soften slightly.

Butcher continued.

"It seems you've remembered some things. Yes, your useless teammates betrayed you and left you to be tortured in this hellhole for decades. I'm not the type to stir up trouble, but I wouldn't be able to stand it either if it were me."

"I don't need anyone's help. I'll deal with those bastards myself," Soldier Boy said flatly. "Besides, you must have other motives for rescuing me."

"Indeed," Butcher nodded with a smile, showing no sign of denial. He stared at Soldier Boy without fear. "Let's think about something: why did your teammates betray you?"

At this, Soldier Boy fell silent.

The question struck a nerve. He couldn't understand why those useless fools dared to defy his will.

It seemed that Butcher had noticed the thoughts running through Soldier Boy's mind. He knew that with Soldier Boy's personality, he would never believe he could make a mistake, especially since bullying had become second nature to him.

"Let me ask a different question then. Soldier Boy, think about it carefully. As the most outstanding hero of the last century, how could your teammates betray you without the orders from above?"

At this, Soldier Boy slowly raised his head.

Although his character was harsh, he was far from a fool. When the Vought Corporation recruited him, they had thoroughly brainwashed him into becoming an unyielding "warrior."

Even though he had never fought in a real war and all the enemies he had killed were enemies plotted by the Vought Corporation, Soldier Boy had deeply ingrained the belief that he was a great military leader.

Now, listening to Butcher's insinuating words, he immediately understood everything.

"Vought...Stan, that son of a bitch."

Seeing that Soldier Boy had finally found his target, Butcher's smile grew wider. No matter what, as long as he had stirred up Soldier Boy's hatred for the Vought Corporation, his mission was accomplished.

And from the terrifying destructive power Soldier Boy had displayed earlier, Butcher believed he might actually be capable of killing the "Homelander."

Just thinking about the image of the Homelander dying made Butcher's heart race a little faster.

"The Vought Corporation has now become a giant. They have many heroes under their command, and overthrowing them won't be easy. Plus, times have changed. The moment you step onto the country's soil, they will have their eyes on you."

"Hmph, more trash doesn't matter. It's still just trash," Soldier Boy said, unfazed.

He didn't think he had lost. The reason he had ended up in this situation was because he hadn't been prepared. If those bastards hadn't ambushed him, he never would have been imprisoned for so long.

"Trust me, I know your power, but even the strongest fists can't defeat many opponents. If you want to take revenge and make those bastards pay in blood, you'll need the help of others," Butcher said seriously.

He admitted that Soldier Boy had combat power, but the Vought Corporation wasn't to be underestimated. Who knew what secret weapons they might have? Even if Soldier Boy was strong, he was still just one man.

Moreover, Butcher wasn't sure Soldier Boy could actually defeat the Homelander. After all, Raven had previously said that the Vought Corporation eliminated Soldier Boy to make room for the Homelander.

Given the Vought Corporation's nature, they wouldn't have recruited a superhero weaker than Soldier Boy to lead the Seven; they would have found an even stronger replacement.

"Help from others? Like you?" Soldier Boy gave Butcher a once-over and sneered.

"You're just an ordinary man."

"Of course, I'm not the only one. I've brought some good allies just for you. Like you, they have an irreconcilable grudge with the Vought Corporation," Butcher said.

As soon as Butcher finished speaking, an explosion erupted in the distance, sending a cloud of smoke into the air. From within the dust, Cindy slowly emerged from a deep pit, followed by Jetstream and Electromagnetic Woman.

At the same time, in another direction, a huge steel plate trembled and slowly began to rise.

Beneath the massive rock, Shaker's arms bulged as he exerted all his strength, throwing the rock several hundred meters away, causing it to crash to the ground with a tremendous impact that shook the earth.

About ten meters away from Shaker, small crackling sounds echoed as a hole the size of a person was eroded through, and Poison Dart Frog and MM crawled out from beneath the rubble.

"If you keep acting like this, I'll crush your skull first," Cindy said, locking eyes with Soldier Boy.

Seeing this, Soldier Boy raised an eyebrow.

He hadn't intentionally meant to hurt them earlier. His previous strike had been a subconscious reaction as he broke free, but he didn't plan to explain himself.

Looking at Cindy's fierce glare, Soldier Boy took a bit of interest in the buzz-cut woman.

"You've got a bit of a soldier's look to you, not bad," he commented.

As the group gathered, although each of them looked a little ragged, none of them had sustained serious injuries. Butcher smiled.

He stepped forward a couple of steps, standing between Cindy and Soldier Boy.

"So, how about it? With our help, I believe overthrowing the Vought Corporation won't be difficult. What do you think?" Butcher asked.

Hearing Butcher's words, Soldier Boy fell into thought.

Indeed, these people seemed far stronger than the Bomb Twins and their kind. With their help, he might have a better chance against the Vought Corporation.

Moreover, as a military leader, Soldier Boy knew he couldn't do it alone.

Thinking this, he snorted softly.

"I think—"

The evening breeze picked up as Soldier Boy stared at Butcher.

"You all should've had enough time to look. Now hurry up and find me some clothes!"
