An Unexpected Turn: Villain Becomes Dad

Chapter 144

Chapter 144

“How bold! You’re courting death!” Zhan Lingshuang instantly flew into a rage.

After all their hard work, they had been about to succeed, only to be interrupted by someone lying in wait, like a mantis stalking the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind. Someone had been hiding nearby all this time and chose this crucial moment to strike, attempting to steal her Profound Deep Cold Flame.

Zhan Lingshuang slashed with her sword.

The sword energy split into six parts, forming a prison-like structure that sealed the red light inside, trapping it.

Yang Chen was equally astonished. He hadn’t expected someone to be hiding within the underground magma without either he or his master detecting it.

This person’s concealment technique was indeed impressive.

“Die!”  Zhan Lingshuang coldly commanded as she charged forward, slashing out another blade of sword energy, aiming to kill the intruder. However, at that moment, the red light flared up, breaking through the prison of sword energy.

Yang Chen recognized that the red light was, in fact, red flames—another primordial fire.

Moreover, these red flames could manipulate the surrounding magma, forming several barriers to barely block Zhan Lingshuang’s sword energy.

A seductive figure flashed before Yang Chen’s eyes.  He was immediately stunned. The figure was none other than … Yan Hou [Empress Yan/Flame Empress].

“You think you can leave?”

Seeing the red figure preparing to leave once again, Zhan Lingshuang swung her sword. The sword intent was boundless. The immense power of her Void Refinement cultivation was fully revealed at this moment. The entire magma-filled world was enveloped by her sword intent. Blades of sharp sword light filled every corner of the surroundings.

“Slash!”

The sword light cleaved through the magma barrier, striking the red figure heavily. The red flames in the magma world instantly dissipated, clearly showing that the opponent had suffered severe injuries. The figure was finally revealed—an alluring and enchanting woman dressed in a red gown, resembling a peerless beauty. However, at this moment, a few drops of blood hung from the corners of her lips, carrying a trace of sorrow.

“Hmph, overestimating yourself. With such meager strength, you dare to snatch food from the tiger’s mouth?” Zhan Lingshuang coldly said, standing with her sword in hand. “Hand over the Profound Deep Cold Flame, and I might leave you a whole corpse!”

The Empress Yan did not respond. Her captivating eyes stared at Yang Chen. Yang Chen immediately understood—the Empress Yan had long noticed him. However, he was more shocked than anything else. Although the Empress Yan wasn’t a match for his master, his master was, after all, a cultivator in the Void Refinement realm with immense combat power. Yet, even capturing the Empress Yan took a considerable effort.

Despite relying on the underground magma for assistance, the Empress Yan’s strength was at least in the mid to late stages of the Soul Transformation Realm. How long had it been since he helped her reshape her body? She had already reached such a terrifying level! This woman, it seems, had her own fortuitous encounters during this time. No wonder she was the mentor of the child of destiny—her fortune was as immense as her own.

“Senior Empress Yan, it’s been a while!” Yang Chen stepped forward with a smile. Zhan Lingshuang was immediately stunned.

“Chen’er, you know her?”

“Yes, Master!” Yang Chen replied. “We go way back. We’ve even had a standoff before!” Yang Chen’s lips curled slightly.

“A standoff?” Zhan Lingshuang said indifferently, “Then she must be an enemy.”

“Yang Chen, stop talking nonsense and spouting filth!” The Empress Yan immediately understood, though Zhan Lingshuang didn’t. After all, in the cave, she was the one involved. Naturally, she knew what Yang Chen meant by “standoff.”

“Senior Empress Yan, we may have a history, but what you’re doing here isn’t right.” Yang Chen continued, “We went through so much trouble to lure out the Profound Deep Cold Flame, and you just come and try to take it. Is that fair?”

Hearing this, a trace of disdain flickered across the Empress Yan’s face. “I was here long before the Profound Deep Cold Flame matured. Besides, heavenly treasures are ownerless—whoever gets it, owns it. Yang Chen, you know this principle well.”

“Hmph, enough nonsense. Killing you will return it to its rightful owner!” Zhan Lingshuang coldly interrupted, gathering her sword intent and preparing to attack again. She was determined to obtain the Profound Deep Cold Flame.

“Senior Empress Yan, my master isn’t as easygoing as I am. You’d better hand over the Profound Deep Cold Flame, or you might not leave here today,” Yang Chen warned.

“Hmph, if I want to leave, you may not be able to stop me!” The Empress Yan snorted arrogantly, forming hand seals with both hands as red light enveloped her. The surrounding space began to ripple. However, the ripples lasted only for a moment before the Empress Yan’s face flushed, and she spat out a mouthful of blood. Her aura instantly weakened.

“Tch!” Zhan Lingshuang sneered disdainfully upon seeing this.

“Damn it! If it weren’t for the trouble in my belly, how could I be in this state!” The Empress Yan frowned deeply. By this time, Yang Chen had already approached her.

“Senior Empress Yan, give me the Profound Deep Cold Flame, and I promise to let you leave safely,” Yang Chen said.

“And if I refuse?” The Empress Yan’s expression was somewhat provocative.

Yang Chen’s face darkened. Although they had a standoff in the past, and he was someone who valued old relationships, that didn’t mean the Empress Yan could do as she pleased. The Profound Deep Cold Flame—she had to hand it over.

“Senior Empress Yan, if you insist on this, then I will have no choice but to act against you. However, I advise you to hand over the Profound Deep Cold Flame. After all, your great revenge is still unfulfilled. I doubt you want to fall here.”

“You shameless scoundrel!” The Empress Yan gritted her teeth. Hearing his words, especially his tone of “you wouldn’t want to,” ignited a burning fury within her. This was the same tactic Yang Chen used to force her into submission back then, compelling her to agree to his demands in the cave.

This despicable man had defiled her body, once making her agree to give him a taste of her grace in that cave. The Empress Yan had cultivated for ten thousand years and had once been a fire cultivator of immense power, standing at the pinnacle of the world. Yet, she had been violated by this shameless scoundrel. And now, she even had …

Thinking about it, the Empress Yan couldn’t help but touch her abdomen, her gaze filled with blame. Although she had sealed that little one, halting its growth, every time she exerted her full strength, the child would drag her down. Sigh … If it weren’t for that child, she would have already used her spatial secret technique to escape this place.
