Ch75 - Special Request
Chapter 15: Special Request
As night fell, Taichi lay in bed, reflecting once again on this world and his own circumstances.
Lying on his back, he stared at the ceiling of his room. Luke and Cerberus, who usually slept with him, were resting at the café instead because he had some things to think about.
“Being able to talk to monsters I haven’t tamed is probably thanks to my skill, ‘Otherworldly Language,’ huh?”
Since no one had mentioned it before, Taichi hadn’t paid much attention to it, but it seemed he was quite exceptional.
Normally, his attention would be drawn to Luke by his side, but Taichi was remarkable in his own right.
“That said, it’s kind of hard to keep a skill like that hidden, isn’t it?”
Because of who he was, Taichi often made careless mistakes.
What might seem normal to him wasn’t necessarily the same for the people of this world.
(Of course, I understand that the things I buy with my ‘Shopping’ skill from Japan or the items I create are way beyond the norm here…)
When it came to his skills, there wasn’t much he could do about it.
(My level is infinite too…)
What should he do? As he mulled over these thoughts, Taichi eventually fell asleep.
“Humans sure love shopping,” said Luke.
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll buy you some meat too, so just come along.”
“Oh? Dragon meat?”
“Unfortunately, they don’t sell that…”
With the café closed for the day, Taichi took Luke to town. They were window shopping, as it were. If they found any interesting tools, unusual ingredients, or spices, they planned to buy them. But dragon meat wasn’t something Taichi had ever seen for sale.
But there was another purpose for today besides shopping.
“When my guild rank goes up, I’m planning to expand the café, right? I want to take a look around and get ideas for the building’s exterior.”
As much as Taichi would love to recreate a stylish café from Japan, he couldn’t just summon one into existence here. So, he wanted to take his time observing the city’s scenery.
The medieval European-like streets excited him as he walked through them.
(I want the MofuMofu Café to have a warm, relaxing atmosphere…)
He imagined people being soothed by the fluffiness, resting with light meals and drinks, and leaving revitalized.
“Oh, I like that building.”
“How about that one over there?”
“That’s a good option too!”
They admired houses with blue roofs, brick houses, homes adorned with flowers, and those with intricate stained-glass decorations. Everything had its own charm, making it hard to choose.
“But one thing that’s absolutely necessary is large windows! People passing by need to be able to see inside and get curious!”
First, they needed people to notice the café. From there, Taichi hoped other Tamers would create similar MofuMofu Cafés, so they could interact with even more fluffy creatures, not just familiars.
Though in this world, the concept of interacting with monsters was almost unheard of, the number of MofuMofu enthusiasts was steadily growing.
“It’ll be fine. In a few years, MofuMofu Cafés will be everywhere…”
While daydreaming about the future, Taichi suddenly heard a voice call out, “Taichi-san?”
“Huh? Oh, Shalti! Hello.”
“Hello! Perfect timing. I was just on my way to see you!”
“Is something up?”
Taichi tilted his head in curiosity at Shalti, who seemed a bit flustered.
They moved to a room in the Tamer Guild to discuss the matter. After Taichi sat on the sofa, Luke settled on the floor beside him. Shalti brewed some tea for them, and after taking a sip, Taichi relaxed.
“Actually, Taichi-san, we’ve received a special request for you.”
“What?”
Taichi blinked in surprise at the unexpected news.
(Well, I have been taking on a lot of requests lately…)
Though his rank wasn’t that high, it wasn’t entirely surprising that he’d receive a personal request.
“What kind of request?”
“Well… It’s about Korogri Mountain, where you conducted that investigation. It seems that in the past few days, a Flower Bear has descended from the mountain.”
“Flower Bear?”
Taichi recalled hearing the name when he first learned about Korogri Mountain. Normally, this monster stayed in the upper parts of the mountain and rarely descended. Plus, it was currently winter, and Gries had told him the bears should be hibernating.
(It’s like a bear waking up from hibernation and coming down the mountain, huh?)
It reminded Taichi of the news he’d seen in Japan about bear attacks.
“That… sounds incredibly dangerous!”
“Exactly! Flower Bears are usually gentle and don’t often attack people, but…”
Once a bear descended the mountain, the only option would be to subdue it.
“So, as a Tamer, we’re hoping you could handle it. The idea is that, as a Tamer, you might be able to manage the Flower Bear better than a combat-focused adventurer could.”
And if it did become dangerous, Luke would be able to deal with it. After considering the various possibilities, they decided to assign the task to Taichi.
(In other words, I either need to keep the Flower Bear from descending the mountain or defeat it if that’s impossible.)
Nodding in understanding, Taichi accepted the situation.
“I’ve got Korogris from Korogri Mountain, so I’ll try to gather some information from him. If I can figure out the reason, that would be ideal… but I can’t guarantee anything.”
“Of course! Thank you for accepting the request, Taichi-san!”
And so, Taichi set off for Korogri Mountain to deal with the Flower Bear situation.
