Apocalypse Survival: Starting with a Shelter

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Contribution Point Exchange

Without the pressure of time, Su Wu visibly relaxed. Sitting at the control console, he casually moved the mouse, distributing tasks to the construction robots like a gamer managing units in a strategy game.

The construction robots guarding the supplies in the city were finalized at four. To make up for the small number of guards, a K2-series agricultural drone was stationed there. When the next large truck arrived for transport, it would bring along four foldable shooting platforms to be positioned around the area.

The remaining six construction robots had distinct tasks. Four would return to the shelter to complete the third level and roof of the small bunker. The other two would stay in the truck cab to ensure safe transport during the journey.

If all went well, the hundreds of tons of steel and fertilizer would be transported back to Su Wu's shelter within 24 hours.

At the shelter, with the small bunker nearing completion, the previously exposed materials would finally have a safe storage space, alleviating fears of another storm.

"And the fourth underground level will soon be fully excavated," Su Wu mused, anticipation in his eyes.

Even during the busiest times, Su Wu had left at least two construction robots dedicated to underground excavation. That consistent effort was now paying off handsomely.

After a brief nap, Su Wu woke to good news. The city cleanup task had concluded, and his shelter ranked first with 27,000 contribution points, earning an additional 20,000-point bonus for securing the top spot.

Redeeming contribution points required visiting Shelter No. 1, the municipal shelter, in person. While the process was somewhat inconvenient, the potential rewards made it worthwhile.

Su Wu sent a construction robot in a large truck to the municipal shelter and received a special exchange list upon arrival.

Ranking first in the cleanup task not only awarded contribution points but also granted priority access to a list of rare goods. Many of these items were available in extremely limited quantities, making the priority selection privilege even more valuable than the points themselves.

After a brief review of the list, Su Wu quickly finalized his choices.

He selected a batch of rare chemical products, some specialty alloys, an industrial-grade radar, a courier-level drone, and 20 vehicle-grade intelligent chips. These items used up his entire 47,000 contribution points.

The chemical products were additives and catalysts to improve the stability of rocket propulsion. The specialty alloys would be used to manufacture key mechanical components. The industrial-grade radar and courier-level drone were intended for reverse engineering and replication.

While Su Wu could rely on survival points to upgrade equipment, reverse-engineering purchased items was a more practical approach to increasing his technical capabilities in the long run. The chips, in particular, addressed a significant bottleneck. Su Wu could manufacture batteries and motors with a 3D printer and materials lab, but producing nanoscale chips remained beyond his capabilities. For the foreseeable future, these chips would remain a vital resource that Su Wu needed to source externally.

"Are you sure about these items?" asked the municipal shelter's exchange officer, a scholarly-looking young man, as he glanced at the construction robot before him.

"Yes, is there a problem?" Su Wu replied through the robot's speakers.

"Not at all," the officer said, shaking his head. "It's just that… your shelter must be pretty advanced. Most people wouldn't find these items useful."

Indeed, most shelters prioritized trading for medicine, high-calorie food, or basic necessities. The specialized equipment Su Wu had chosen would be useless without significant industrial and technical capabilities.

After redeeming his rewards, the large truck returned to focus on transporting the remaining steel and fertilizer from the city.

With the addition of two specialized transport vehicles, the task was completed in just three hours.

At the same time, the construction robots back at the shelter began moving the exposed materials into the small bunker, whose concrete roof had yet to fully cure. Left on the surface were only piles of low-value construction debris, which could be replaced easily if lost.

"Finally, it's done," Su Wu sighed in relief as the last load of steel arrived at the shelter.

With some free time on his hands, Su Wu's thoughts turned to new opportunities. He tasked one engineering robot and two construction robots to board the specialized transport vehicles and head toward a hilly area three to four kilometers away from the shelter.

During the material transfer process, Su Wu hadn't been idle. Taking advantage of calmer winds, he had sent reconnaissance drones on patrols around the shelter.

In the depths of the hills, the drones had discovered a toppled signal tower—a find that sparked Su Wu's curiosity and ambitions for future developments.
