Chapter 119: Chapter 119: I Gave Him Five Million
The dagger was about to stab its target when the liquid man's vision blurred, and Angelina had already disappeared.
He quickly looked up at the restroom and saw that the woman had somehow crouched lightly on the vertical wall, like a weightless ghost.
At this moment, Angelina's eyes glowed with crimson light, a tiny sharp fang revealed from her lips, as if she had instantly transformed into a vampire.
She exhaled a breath of hot air. Angelina's heartbeat was rapid, her body temperature astonishing, releasing immense energy!
Boom!
She leaped off the wall, her body spinning, sweeping out a whip kick from her long dress, striking the liquid man square in the chest.
Bang!
The liquid man was sent flying, crashing into the sink outside, shattering the marble-made washbasin into pieces.
The two female bodyguards were startled and were about to step forward when Angelina emerged from the restroom and signaled them to stop with a raised hand.
"What's going on?"
The liquid man climbed to his feet, liquid surging at his chest, returning to normal.
He looked at Angelina. "You're a superhuman?"
Angelina didn't answer and suddenly lunged at him, reaching out to grab him. The liquid man immediately turned into a puddle of liquid to evade her grasp.
Angelina's fingers scraped across the mirror, shattering it into fragments. In the shards of the mirror, the liquid man could be seen rushing toward a drainage outlet, attempting to escape through it.
Suddenly, the liquid stopped, as if it had hit an invisible barrier!
At this moment, the puddle of liquid that the liquid man had transformed into was within Angelina's shadow.
She used her shadow ability to capture the liquid man!
This was precisely why John had her practice capturing liquids with shadows—all the preparation was for this moment.
"What did you do?"
The puddle of liquid rose, reforming into the liquid man's shape. Angelina gestured with her hands.
The restroom door opened, and a male bodyguard entered carrying a metal case and holding a flamethrower. He sprayed a stream of fire at the liquid man.
The flames scorched the liquid man, and he screamed in agony as the liquid that made up his body evaporated rapidly, a cloud of steam rising desperately upward.
Angelina raised her hand, signaling the bodyguard to stop spraying flames, allowing the liquid man to barely survive.
"Now you have two choices."
"One, be burned to death by me."
"Two, cooperate with me and lure out my respected Uncle O'Connor."
"If you do that, you'll live and receive five million dollars."
The liquid man glanced at the still-glowing flamethrower and immediately knew what choice he should make.
---
A stretch limousine drove toward the docks, and O'Connor, who had just put down his phone, sneered.
"That useless liquid man finally got the job done. Took up so much of my time and even dared to ask for another million!"
"Fine, I'll give it to you, but I doubt you'll live to take it."
The car came to a stop, and O'Connor, flanked by his bodyguards, headed into a warehouse.
The warehouse was dimly lit, but as soon as he stepped inside, the lights came on.
The lights illuminated a table, on which a woman lay—Angelina.
The liquid man emerged from the shadows. "Mr. O'Connor, as you instructed, I have killed Miss Angelina and brought her body here."
O'Connor's expression changed to one of cheerfulness, his face full of smiles. "Well done, my friend."
"Let me say, you are the most professional, outstanding assassin I've ever met."
"Now hand over my niece's body. I want to take it back and bury this poor little thing in our family cemetery."
"Wait."
The liquid man extended his hand. "Where's my money?"
"You must know, assassinating Miss Angelina, now a vice president at Vought International, was no easy task."
O'Connor laughed heartily. "One million, right? I'll transfer it to you now."
The liquid man said in a deep voice, "I recall asking for cash."
O'Connor smirked. "No problem, cash it is."
He extended his hand, and a bodyguard handed him a heavy briefcase.
O'Connor opened the case, revealing it was full of U.S. dollars. "Well, do you want to count it?"
At that moment, the other lights in the warehouse suddenly turned on.
O'Connor, disoriented by the sudden brightness, heard a flurry of camera shutters and saw flashes of light in front of him.
Someone shouted.
"Quick, focus on his hand—the money in his hand is the key!"
"Caught red-handed! Who would've thought O'Connor would hire someone to kill his own niece?"
O'Connor yelled, "Liquid man, you dare play me?"
"That was my idea, dear uncle."
He turned to see Angelina sitting up on the table, taking off a bloodstained dress and tossing it aside.
"You only offered him one million."
"I gave him five million," Angelina said with a smile.
O'Connor's expression twisted with rage. At that moment, police officers swarmed into the warehouse.
"Freeze!"
"Hands up!"
"Mr. O'Connor, you are under suspicion of plotting to murder Miss Angelina. Please come with us to the station."
O'Connor tried to resist, but several officers tackled him to the ground.
This scene appeared on televisions across the country during the morning news the next day.
John lay in bed, watching the news on TV, while Angelina climbed out from under the sheets and rested her head on his chest.
"Master, thank you for everything you've done for me."
"Once O'Connor is convicted, I can have the court invalidate his inheritance of my father's estate."
"It won't be long before I reclaim my father's assets."
John lifted her chin. "No need to thank me. This revenge drama was your performance; I merely gave you the opportunity."
"Even so, I still want to repay you properly," she said mischievously, before diving back under the sheets.
John chuckled and continued watching TV. "If you want to thank me, help me with a few things."
"Recruit a team of scientists, primarily in physics, quantum research, biology, and energy fields."
"I have a few things I'd like their opinions on."
From under the sheets, Angelina gave a muffled response.
John continued, "Also, find a location and build a research base. Make sure everything is done discreetly."
Just then, the TV aired another segment.
"Recently, we followed up on Second Lieutenant Levine, who was injured in the Manhattan incident involving superheroes."
"According to his parents, Levine has been emotionally withdrawn since returning from the hospital."
"He also refuses to be interviewed."
