Chapter 54: Parent-Child Activity

The Magic Cat amusement park in Yongcheng was a well-known venue for team building and entertainment. It featured a variety of attractions suitable for people of different ages to enjoy together. “Exclusive booking” referred to reserving several attractions for a certain period, as some were not suitable for young children.

When the children learned they could go to the Magic Cat amusement park together, their excitement was palpable. This wasn’t a school-organized event; the parents arranged it privately. Although parent-child tickets came with group discounts, the total cost still amounted to several thousand dollars, making some families hesitant to spend that much.

Sister Baihua arrived as scheduled, and her appearance was met with enthusiastic cheers from the children. Two parents even asked for her autograph in their notebooks as a keepsake. Fang Jian himself accompanied Yiyi on this outing. Although the parents were generally a few years older than Fang Jian, they could still be considered peers, resulting in no significant generation gap.

One parent, who had pioneered the idea of visiting the Magic Cat amusement park, approached Fang Jian. This parent was a robust man weighing 250 pounds. His son, Little Chubby, played with his classmates on the trampoline while he conversed with Fang Jian.

“Yiyi… Mr. Fang, you’re the one accompanying her this time,” he remarked.

Fang Jian smiled and replied, “Yes, my parents had something to attend to, so I came along.”

“Hehe, actually, it’s good that you came. Last time, when Yiyi’s dad accompanied her, it felt a bit out of place,” he admitted.

Fang Jian chuckled, understanding that the man was speaking honestly, not intending to insult anyone. Most of the parents at the park were around thirty years old, some even younger, while the oldest were not yet forty. In contrast, Yiyi’s father, Fang Biao, was fifty, making him stand out among the younger parents.

Fang Jian guessed that Yiyi’s dad might have felt uncomfortable, so he willingly allowed Fang Jian to accompany Yiyi this time. The robust man, Li Heng, extended his hand and introduced himself.

“Mr. Fang, I’m Li Heng. How should I address you?” He asked.

“Fang Jian,” he replied with a smile, shaking Li Heng’s hand.

Li Heng initiated a conversation with Fang Jian because only two parents in their class had invited all their classmates to their child’s birthday celebration, indicating that Fang Jian likely came from a well-off background.

Furthermore, Fang Jian’s invitation to Sister Baihua received unanimous praise from the children, which impressed Li Heng and made him willing to befriend Fang Jian.

“Fang Jian, where do you work?” Li Heng casually asked.

Fang Jian mentioned the name of his company. At that moment, he felt a twinge of guilt as he had been on paid leave for almost four months since his return. The CEO seemed to forget about him most of the time, but he would receive generous gifts and bonuses during holidays.

“Oh, I’ve heard of that company,” Li Heng’s eyes lit up. “Brother, I have my own small trading company. If there’s a chance, let’s collaborate.”

Fang Jian accepted Li Heng’s business card, and they exchanged cards. To Fang Jian’s surprise, they were in the same industry, specializing in importing goods from overseas. However, Li Heng dealt with pulp imports.

It wasn’t yet time for the parent-child activity, so the children were divided into two groups for competitions. Parents gathered in small groups, chatting with familiar faces.

Fang Jian and Li Heng chatted for a while. They learned that among the annual imports of goods in the Dragon Kingdom, pulp was an item that consumed a significant amount of foreign exchange, with an import volume of 30.63 million tons in 2020, costing 108.8 billion yuan.

As they discussed, a commotion broke out near the entrance. Two men turned to look and saw five or six young people ignoring staff attempts to stop them. They entered the trampoline area and started jumping on the trampolines without regard for safety.

Fang Jian’s expression changed, and he quickly walked over. Li Heng struggled to move his feet but couldn’t take another step forward as he was afraid the trampoline might collapse if he stepped on it.
