Asta's Adventure

Chapter 40: A conversation between brothers

The next morning, Solid came to his senses. As he recalled what had happened, he remembered how Noelle had shot him with a water sphere, which had injured him. This made him angry.

"How dare that creature do this?! Where is she?!" — he shouted at the servants around him.

But soon, one of the servants spoke:

"Lord Solid."

"Yes?!"

"Lord Nozel calls for you to his office. He asked us to inform you as soon as you come to your senses," — said the servant, bowing his head.

"my brother?" — Hearing about Nozel, he quickly calmed down. "Alright, I'll be there shortly."

After that, he quickly began to straighten himself up and headed toward the office. He was a little nervous.

"I wonder why he called for me? Probably because of Noelle, but still, there's no need to worry about that. My brother will support me," — he said confidently as he walked in a specific direction.

Soon, he stood at the door. After knocking, a cold voice came from inside the office:

"Come in."

A little nervous, Solid opened the door, and there he saw Nozel staring intently at him.

"H-hello, brother. Can I know why you wanted to see me?"

Sighing, Nozel responded:

"Have you heard the news?"

At this question, Solid shook his head.

"Noelle is missing. We haven't been able to find her for two days."

"Really?" — Hearing this, instead of sadness, he expressed genuine happiness. "Really? I hope she's gone from the family. Such a disgrace isn't needed by the Silvas."

Hearing this response, Nozel began to release his mana, pressing down on Solid, making him sweat.

"Solid, watch your words. This is your first warning. I told you — she's your sister and a member of the Silva family," — Nozel spoke with a cold voice.

"What's going on with my brother? He's never said such things about Noelle. But he didn't oppose Nozel, fearing he would anger him even more."

"So, I'm curious, what did you do yesterday that made her run away?"

"I-I didn't do anything. She shot a water sphere at me."

"I've heard about this, Solid. I'm interested in the reason she did that, and don't lie to me," — Nozel said, piercing Solid with his gaze."

"W-well, recently, or rather every morning, Noelle had been disappearing, so I couldn't remind her of what a disgrace she is."

"I told you to watch your words."

"Y-yeah, well, I noticed that she seemed happy, but I couldn't stand it. I don't know what she was doing, but still, yesterday, I caught her when she came back," — and he went on to explain what had happened.

Upon hearing this, Nozel sighed.

"Haa, this is my fault. I shouldn't have done this to her and let you treat her so terribly."

Upon hearing this, Solid got a little angry and yelled at Nozel:

"What are you talking about?! How else should I treat the one who killed our mother?!"

"Shut up, Solid!" — Hearing such words from his brother for the first time, Solid was left speechless. "You don't know everything. Damn, fine, forget about it. I'll tell you something when we find and bring Noelle back. Do you know where she could have gone?"

"N-no, I didn't keep track of her."

"Haa, and what was I hoping for... Fine, get out of here, leave me alone."

Nozel said, beginning to write something on paper.

Solid, obediently, left the office, taking on a thoughtful expression.
