Chapter 4: Having Feud with Hendra
Hendra looked at me. His brown eyes seemed to look at me quite deeply. I could see how the doubts in his mind were clearly visible in his eyes. Until I decided to curl a slight smile on my lips to calm him down.
“Are you sure you don't mind if I leave you to take care of office matters with Nalia?” Hendra said, he mentioned the name of his personal secretary.
I nodded, even though in my heart I still couldn't let go of Hendra to chat with his personal secretary named Nalia. But I couldn't possibly forbid Hendra from settling office matters with his personal secretary. So I didn't show my objections clearly in front of Hendra.
“Chat with her. Solve your work problems. I'll wait here, if you need anything you can let me know,” I said, I gave my best response to Hendra.
Hendra nodded slightly. After that, he turned his eyes away from me. I could see Hendra and Nalia walking to the work desk. They started chatting seriously there. I couldn't hear their conversation, but their behavior seemed normal.
I decided not to be suspicious of the reasonableness of their behavior. Until I decided to sit on the small sofa near the wall. I sat there and watched Hendra's movements with Nalia, his personal secretary.
Until finally I saw Hendra take a pen and sign the piece of paper that Nalia gave him. Apart from that, I could see Nalia quickly leaving Hendra's work room. Now I'm alone with Hendra.
“Darling, you have waited a long time for me. Thank you for your patience in waiting,” Hendra said, he walked over to me.
I spread a smile on my lips. My eyes fell on Hendra, my mind became a little more relieved. Finally, he managed to complete his work matters. My lips were still smiling, I was breathing a little freely.
“No problem, Ndra. So, have you finished your work?” I asked Hendra.
“A little. What Nalia brought earlier was nothing compared to the rest of the work I had to finish,” Hendra said, he explained to me about his work matters.
“If I may ask, what kind of work did Nalia bring you?” I said, I was a little curious about what happened between Nalia and Hendra.
Hendra smiled. His eyes were fixed on me, very deep. So deep that I could see the reflection of my face in his eyes. I smiled stiffly, a little worried if something might happen between me and Hendra.
“Nothing, darling. It's just a matter of cooperation contracts between the office and several fabric shops. You know that my office operates in the textile sector,” Hendra said, he then moved his body closer to me.
“That's why you signed an agreement between your office and the shops that collaborate,” I said, I was starting to understand a little about the discussion that Nalia had with Hendra before.
“Yes, like that. She's nothing more than my personal secretary here. So you don't need to worry about me with her,” Hendra said, he smiled.
The facial distance between Hendra and I became closer. I could feel his breath which was so fresh. Until he leaned his face closer, until I closed my eyes. I could feel our lips pressed together, until we finally kissed.
But it didn't last long, Hendra immediately withdrew his kiss from me. I opened my eyes and realized that now Hendra's body was a little far away from me.
“Now, I have a little time with you. But will you accompany me to go to the canteen to get something to eat?” Hendra said, he invited me to go with him.
“Yes. I'm so bored being here. If it doesn't bother you, can we go now,” I said, I agreed with Hendra's invitation.
“Yes, come on with me,” Hendra said.
I accepted Hendra's hand, he pulled me and hugged my waist. We then walked out of his work room. I walked side by side with Hendra. He lowered his hand from my waist to grip my hand.
Hendra and I walked towards the canteen which is on the lower floor of the office. We went down the stairs together until we reached the cafeteria area. I could see five stands selling different foods.
“What do we want to eat this afternoon?” Hendra asked me.
“Corn soup and cheeseburgers look good,” I said, I gave the answer to Hendra's question.
“Then, we go to the stand in the middle of the cafeteria. Come with me, so that you don't get lost in the crowd of workers here,” Hendra said, he tightened his grip on my hand.
“Okay, Ndra. I won't be far from you,” I said.
We then walked together to the stand in the middle of the canteen area. When we arrived, Hendra told me to sit on a long wooden chair. After that, he went to the seller who was standing behind the stand.
I waited for Hendra to return. Meanwhile, my eyes wandered, and for a moment I paid attention to the situation around the office canteen.
The atmosphere around the canteen was very busy with workers. Maybe they were hungry this afternoon, after half a day of their work. I took a breath. My gaze was diverted when I realized Hendra was coming. He then sat in front of me.
“I've ordered food for us. Just wait,” Hendra said to me.
“Yes, no problem. I can wait,” I said in front of Hendra.
Not long after, the seller finally put down the food and drinks that Hendra had ordered. I could see two bowls of corn chowder, two cheeseburgers, and two glasses of coke.
“Enjoy your meal, Sya. Hope you are happy with what I ordered for us,” Hendra said, he smiled at me.
But unfortunately, when I was about to eat my corn soup, I saw the woman coming. She walked towards us, and decided to sit next to Hendra. Who else if not Nalia, Hendra's personal secretary.
I didn't eat the corn soup in front of me. Now my attention was directed to Nalia who had her arm around Hendra's arm.
“Why is she here, Ndra?” I asked, I dared to break the stiff atmosphere between the three of us.
