Attack on Titan: The Strongest Newcomer

Chapter 67: Chapter 63 Building the Bridge

The group of five advanced cautiously. Ryo took the lead, shouldering the most hazardous tasks, while Connie and the others carried materials from the rear, primarily bundles of branches.

**Boom!**

The sound of collapsing snow filled the air. Ryo pulled back just in time, the ground beneath his feet giving way. A moment later, he stood staring at the void where he had just been standing, breathing heavily.

"We can't move forward like this," he said, his expression grave. "The snow is too unstable. We need to create a path ourselves."

"What should we do then?" Connie and the others exchanged uneasy glances, uncertain of their next move.

Ryo frowned, deep in thought. "Go back and cut down some trees. Gather all the ropes we have. We'll use the trunks to build a makeshift bridge."

The group nodded, realizing this was their only option. They returned to the camp, where the rest of the team had been hard at work preparing materials. Several large trees had already been felled, but the challenge lay ahead—moving the hefty trunks through the narrow pathway and setting them in place.

Each trunk weighed at least 300 kilograms. For most, moving them seemed an impossible task. The group looked at one another, unsure how to proceed.

"Let me try," Ryo said firmly, stepping forward.

The others quickly made way, watching as Ryo approached the nearest tree trunk. He crouched down, bracing himself, and then, to everyone's astonishment, lifted the massive log with a single hand.

The crowd gasped.

"That… that thing weighs over 300 kilograms!" Jean muttered, his eyes wide in disbelief.

"Is he even human?" Connie whispered, equally dumbfounded.

Ryo, oblivious to their amazement, tested the weight. "Huh, not as heavy as I thought," he said casually, supporting the trunk with one hand and placing the other on his waist as though to steady himself.

His words only deepened the shock. The group had struggled to haul the trunk with seven or eight people, yet Ryo seemed to carry it effortlessly.

Under his breath, Ryo realized his comment might have sounded insensitive. "Uh… let's just get this done," he said, hoping to redirect their focus.

He began ferrying the trunks one by one, placing them carefully across the gap. After five logs of similar thickness were aligned, a rudimentary bridge took shape.

However, Ryo knew this wasn't enough. The round surfaces of the logs were slippery, making crossing them dangerous. Ropes were needed to bind the logs together securely.

The others insisted on tying a safety rope around Ryo, just in case he fell. Reluctantly, he agreed, knowing the drop below was nothing to take lightly.

Once secured, Ryo climbed onto the logs and began fastening them together with practiced precision. He moved quickly, undeterred by the abyss beneath him. His calm demeanor astonished the others, who couldn't imagine themselves stepping onto such a precarious structure.

By the time Ryo finished, a sturdy, functional bridge spanned the gap. He climbed back down, brushing snow from his clothes, and looked at the group.

"Let's move. We've already lost enough time," he said.

The group nodded in unison, their admiration for Ryo reaching new heights.
