Chapter 73: Chapter 69 One Against Fourteen
After Mikasa finished her confrontation, she returned to Ryo's side, standing silently as if nothing had happened. Her expression was calm, but her aura carried an unshakable determination that silenced anyone considering further confrontation.
The group of military police scumbags, however, wasn't willing to let the matter rest.
"Silk, are you okay? Say something!" one of them exclaimed, crouching near their fallen comrade.
Another, emboldened by numbers, pointed at Ryo and Mikasa, shouting, "You two went too far! Apologize and pay for this now, or we won't let you off so easily!"
Ryo, unfazed, looked at the man with a calm smile. "Oh? You won't let us off? And what exactly are you planning to do? Beat us?"
His steady pace forward seemed casual, but each step made the surrounding crowd feel an inexplicable tension. The man didn't notice the change in atmosphere, misreading Ryo's approach as submission. Emboldened, he sneered, "You attacked first. Everyone here saw it. If we retaliate, it's self-defense! How about this—since you seem eager to fight, I'll take you on one-on-one. But if you lose, don't think we'll let this go!"
Ryo raised an eyebrow, his smile widening. "One-on-one? That's too much trouble. How about this? All of you come at me at once. There's fourteen of you now. It'll save us some time, and I might even get the chance to enjoy myself."
His words sent shockwaves through the crowd. Laughter erupted from both the military police and the bystanders.
"What a joke! One against fourteen?"
"Does he even know who he's talking to? The Military Police might be slackers, but they're still elites. This kid's delusional!"
Even the Survey Corps soldiers, who generally respected bravery, shook their heads. No one believed Ryo could stand a chance against so many opponents.
The military police, for their part, were incensed. Ryo's provocation was a direct challenge to their pride, and they had no intention of holding back.
"Brothers, you heard him! He wants to fight all of us at once. Let's show him what the Military Police can do!"
The fourteen men surrounded Ryo, their expressions twisted with anger and ridicule.
One particularly burly man smirked. "You've got guts, kid, but you're about to regret your life choices. Let's see how long you last!"
Ryo stood with his arms crossed, still smiling. "You should be worried about yourselves. I'll end this in half a minute."
His statement set off a fresh wave of disbelief and mocking laughter from the crowd.
"Half a minute? He's insane!"
"Does this kid think he's Levi or something?"
The burly man charged first, swinging his fist with full force, but Ryo barely moved. With a subtle shift, he sidestepped the attack, his hands still folded across his chest. The man stumbled, missing entirely.
"You're too slow," Ryo said casually.
Angered by the insult, the rest of the military police lunged at him simultaneously. Ryo's smile vanished, replaced by cold focus.
He stepped into the fray, his movements precise and fluid. One man swung at him with a baton, but Ryo caught the weapon mid-swing, twisting it out of the attacker's hand and using it to trip another man.
A kick to the knee sent another opponent sprawling, and a swift elbow strike to the jaw knocked one unconscious. Each movement was calculated, efficient, and devastating.
The crowd, initially jeering, fell silent. The military police, who had started with overwhelming confidence, now looked panicked as their numbers dwindled.
By the time Ryo disarmed the last man, less than thirty seconds had passed. Fourteen men lay groaning on the ground, some unconscious, others clutching injuries.
Ryo dusted his hands off and turned back to Mikasa, who hadn't moved from her spot. "That took longer than I expected. Must be out of practice."
The crowd was stunned into silence. No one laughed now.
Mikasa, as calm as ever, gave Ryo a slight nod of approval.
A senior member of the Survey Corps stepped forward, his expression grim but intrigued. "You two, report to Commander Erwin. He'll want to meet you."
Ryo smirked. "Lead the way."
As they walked past the defeated military police, Ryo leaned down to the burly man who had charged first. "Remember this lesson. Next time, don't underestimate your opponent."
The man could only groan in response, unable to meet Ryo's gaze.
And with that, Ryo and Mikasa followed the Survey Corps officer into the camp, leaving the crowd to process the shocking scene they had just witnessed.
