POV Arnook Chief of the northern WaterTribe

It has been three days since this strange blue square appeared in mine and my daughter's vision. Currently I am on my way to a meeting with all the elders to deliberate on how we should deal with this. If it had been only me I could have hidden this strange message and not caused such a big issue to come of it but as soon as Yue saw it she went around telling everyone and I was forced to reveal I saw it too unless everyone think my daughter was a liar.

Entering the meeting hall I drawed the attention of everyone in the room, I paused letting them take their look and recognize the chief is here. "I have called this meeting to discuss the 'invitation' that every real family member is currently seeing"

After making my announcement I took my seat at the head of the table.

"And what does this invitation say chief Arnook" an elder to my left spoke.

Before I could speak another elder spoke up all having been briefed before this "That is not the issue at the moment we need to discuss weather what they are seeing is real or not, afterall no one else sees this 'invitation'"

"Both the princess and Chief Arnook say they see this 'invitation' on a blue square so we will trust them in this" Master Pakku spoke loudly.

Giving him a nod I continued "The 'Invitation" I said with skepticism "says that if we were to come to this tower, we could gain power beyond what we currently know"

"And?"

"It also continues to say that the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation have both already been using this tower"

"Most likely the fire nation is trying to conquer the surrounding area if it has as great an opportunity as it says" an elder to my right spoke.

"I do not think that is the case" I started "It mentions two rules. That each person cannot attack one another in the tower and that no one can prevent another from entering the tower itself"

"And where is this tower" Pakku asked helpfully

Grabbing a map from in front of me I pointed at a spot "According to the invitation it should be right here"

"If the fire nation really is there we can't afford to go, they will attack us" Another elder spoke.

"Be that as it may it is my opinion and intent to send a party over to search the area as well as confirm this" I stated.

"Despite the dubious nature of this invitation, weather we can confirm it is real or not we cannot deny that the chief as well as the princess are seeing something" Pakku started, watching as many elder shook their heads in agreement "I think it best we send the groop as the chief says, in fact I will send five of my best pupils, it will do them some good to get some experience outside the tribe"

"If we are going to do this then we need to leave as soon as possible" an elder spoke.

Looking at him in the eye I stated "That is why I have already called for every warrior to gather for a feast tonight where I will make the announcement and ask for volunteers"

A few hours later I watched as the men og my tribe finished their bellies full, faces smiling and people laughing. Each one was a great warrior and it was difficult for me to ask them to leave the safety of their home. But I knew I had to, if there was a chance the fire nation found a way to gather more strength we had to act.

Standing up from my spot I cleared my throat to gather attention "I know you are all wondering why I chose to gather you all here today" I said, some starting to whisper "It has come to my attention that the fire nation may be gaining greater power from an unknown source"

I watched as the crowd erupted in anger, many people started yelling for action for immediate retaliation. For justice for fallen brothers.

"Quiet!" I yelled "As I said the fire nation may have found a new source of power, so I have decided to ask for twenty volunteers to journey to the Earth Kingdom in order to investigate, in addition to these volunteers Master Paku has volunteered five of his best pupils to go with you".

I wretched as the warriors of my tribe discussed with one another who would go and who would stay, despite this being considered an honor for them it is always hard to leave one's home. Soon twenty people, some old, some young made their way towards me receiving a ceremonial cymbal on their forehead.

"Thank you all for volunteering for this mission" I said turning to the volunteers "We must not waste any time, most of the supplies have already been gathered. You will meet here tomorrow morning at sunrise prepared to leave"

Watching everyone leave; their smiling faces gone replaced with concern; I made my way back to my own home. I wished to go with them, but my responsibilities are here, and my warrior days have long passed after becoming Chief.

"Dad?"

I turned to see Yue standing behind me dressed for bed "What is it sweetie?" I asked.

"The spirits" she paused, "they feel uneasy," she replied cryptically.

Sighing I knelt down to her level "Me two sweetie but there is nothing to worry about, now let's get you to bed"

Taking her hand I led her through our snowy halls back to her room. After putting her to bed I left for my own mentally drained from the days unexpected and confused events.

The next day I gathered with many others at the wall, watching as the young warriors climbed into the beats they were given. Supplies carefully packed into each one.

"Today we bid these warriors farwell, but they are not gone forever, no, they leave in service to our tribe to protect us from dangers that have yet to reach us" I started then turned to the warriors "And to you brave warriors I thank you, for your bravery and when you return there will be a celebration waiting"

Concluding my speech I watched as waterbenders pulled parts of the wall down to let the boats pass. Slowly they made their way outside the safety of our home, yet me and many others stood still watching till they were no longer out of sight.

When only a few of us were left I looked at the moon and whispered to myself "Spirits please protect my people". Then I turned and walked back to my home.
