Chapter 6: Part 6.
Wangji entered the pavilion and was immediately struck by the sight of Weiying lying lifeless on the bed. His skin was extremely pale, and red and blue scars marred his body, visible through the bandages wrapped around him.
As he approached, the healers greeted him, but Wangji didn't acknowledge them.
"His condition is critical," the head healer explained. "There are many wounds from spiritual weapons that are difficult to suppress. We managed to stop the bleeding and stitch them, but he has suffered significant blood loss. He's malnourished and underweight—he hasn't taken any of the medicine I provided last time, leaving a pouch behind. He only took what he could without water. His state isn't good; we can't say whether he will pull through. It seems he has already given up hope."
"You can stay," the healer continued, "but I'll take a round of the pavilion to check on other patients. If you need anything, call for me." With that, he left.
Wangji remained fixated on Weiying, his heart aching at the sight of him in such a fragile state. After a moment of hesitation, he reached out and grasped Weiying's hand tightly, begging him to wake up and say something. He murmured soft words of encouragement, but silence filled the room.
As the clock struck 1 AM, Wangji finally broke the stillness. "Weiying, Wei Wuxian, I don't know how to process everything that's happened between us. Our situation hasn't been ideal; I know that. But you never told me why you're unhappy or let me help you. I can see it in your face—you're not content to be married to me. But despite everything, I'm happy to have you here.
Whenever I look at your pale face, it feels like I'm gazing at the moon—a sight that brings me comfort in my loneliness. You make me feel complete.
I've always been able to push through pain and control my emotions, but seeing you in pain suffocates me. I can't describe how it feels right now; all I know is that I don't like this. I want you beside me forever. I love you and will always love you. Please wake up..."
Wangji sat in the Jingshi, a warm glow of happiness enveloping him as he watched Weiying, who was now fully recovered and laughing joyfully. His tummy was round and full, a sign of their impending parenthood. The misunderstandings between them had been cleared, thanks to Yanli's timely arrival, which had brought clarity to their relationship.
As they shared this moment, Wangji felt a deep sense of contentment. "Weiying... I was wrong. I should have tried harder to protect you from this. I'm not a good husband, but I want to be a good one for you. Please give me a chance..."
Weiying smiled back at him, his eyes sparkling with affection. "Wangji, you're always the best person I've met. You've helped so many others, and you've helped me countless times. I can't say it's entirely your fault for not understanding; it's also on me for never speaking up or revealing anything."
He continued, his cheeks flushing as he reminisced, "You know, when I first saw you in the Jingshi, I admired your handsome face and golden eyes. Your strong jawline... I always noticed you from afar and admired you without realizing when that admiration turned into love. Maybe it was when you held me in your arms and cared for me when no one else did, or when you fought against your own clan rules just to bring me water."
Wangji listened intently, his heart swelling with emotion as Weiying spoke.
"I fell in love with you when I first saw you," Wangji confessed, his voice earnest. "You're so adorable. But my past... it wasn't good. My parents' relationship was a mess, so I never expressed my feelings after their death. I buried them deep inside me until they resurfaced so strongly for you."
Suddenly, a loud knock on the door jolted Wangji from his daydream-a dream filled with visions of happiness and family with Weiying.
"Wangji! Are you still sleeping? We're supposed to leave for night hunting! Get ready and come quickly; the disciples are waiting!"
"Mm," Wangji replied absently from inside.
He heard footsteps retreating as Xichen moved away from the door. Alone again, Wangji's thoughts drifted back to the past...

**Two Years Ago**
Wangji hadn't left Weiying's side that day. In the evening, a messenger arrived with news that Miss Jiang Yanli was outside to meet his brother. Shocked and angry, Wangji felt tears welling up but managed to nod his head in consent for her to enter.
As Yanli stepped into the pavilion, she was followed by several others: a furious Madam Yu accompanied by Jiang Fengmian and Jiang Cheng, along with Xichen and Lan Qiren and a few elders of the clan. The last person to enter was Jin Jixuan.
Yanli rushed to Weiying's side and hugged him tightly. "Weiying... My A-Xian! How could you take this punishment for me?" she cried.
"Yanli! Where were you? You know how worried we were! Where did that bas'tard keep you?" Jiang Cheng shouted.
"Mother! Don't say anything about my Xian! I agreed to marry Hanguang-Jun because you both wanted me to-not considering my opinion! You set up this marriage without asking me!" Yanli retorted fiercely.
"I love A-Xuan! I can't marry Lan Wangji! That's why I ran away... If I had known my brother would be the one to pay for this instead of me, I would have never run away in the first place!" she continued.
Madam Yu slapped Yanli across the face. "You ran away after we took care of you your whole life! Treated you equally! You don't even think about our reputation? You come here to shame us? Aren't you ashamed that this boy-who I never liked-takes everything for you while you just run away?"
"Not caring what will happen to the sect or your parents? A-Cheng looked for you in every sect while taking care of our clan! Do you have any idea how much Fengmian and I cried for you?" Madam Yu paused before adding furiously, "AND YOU FUC'KING RUN AWAY WITH THIS BAS'TARD!"
"Madam Yu," Jin Jixuan interjected firmly, "Yanli and I love each other; we did nothing wrong. We tried to convince both of you about our feelings, but you were more worried about the sect than us. Now that we're acting on our feelings without regard for your reputation, you expect us to consult with you? It's not like we never told you or that Yanli didn't confess!"
He stepped closer, his voice steady but fierce. "And one more thing: Yanli is my wife and she's three months pregnant. Don't raise your hand or voice against her or my child because I won't care about your position after that."
Wangji stood silently through the confrontation, watching Weiying as he realized the immense sacrifice he had made for Yanli's sake.

AUTHOR!!!
Hello readers! So, who do you think is right here?
Yanli, who run away from her sect, to marry Jin Jixuan on a day of her marriage, cos her parents don't listen, and when Jixuan come to Jiang sect, hiding to take her away, she acted upon her feelings and run away with him, leaving everything behind...
Or Madam Yu. Who loves her daughter, but for the sect she never listened to her even know her heart, she forced her to marry Jixuan, then thinking that it's Weiying who's behind her daughter's disappearance.
Blamed him and tortured him with Zidian, never loved him, or care much about him, but loves her daughter, but reputation of the clan was much important for her.
Now, when Yanli is back she's blaming her for not saying anything before and concerned about her well being now, but not act on the things which she should have done earlier, maybe now her clan reputation wasn't much concerned as it's already diminished.
Or, maybe Yanli shouldn't have run away at all... cos no matter what they're her parents, and it's her clan, so she should be responsible enough to consider about the consequences.
But matter what's wrong it's Weiying who suffered, maybe sometimes people just act upon feelings and sometimes on what others will think...
