Chapter 6: CHAPTER 6: The Stalker
What country is famous for the landmark 'Machu Picchu'?"
Eve's hand shot up, but she looked slightly disoriented, her words slurring. "I know this... but... I can't remember. I'm too drunk to think straight!"
Nate, watching quietly, smirked. He already knew the answer, but something told him to let Eve take the spotlight he had his plan.
With a hint of determination, Eve finally shouted, "Peru!"
"That is … Correct! That's the right answer!"
Joe and Eve "We won! We won the game!" They cheered, high-fiving each other.
Joe still riding the high, turned toward Lisa," Where is our money?"
Lisa's smile turned mischievous, her voice dripping with mock disappointment. "Oh, you thought it was that easy? The game's not over yet. To claim your prize, you two need to finish these 16 shots!" She gestured toward a daunting line of tequila glasses on the table.
Eve and Joe froze for a moment staring at each other. "We fucked up... Joe. I'm already drunken" Eve muttered.
Joe "I want that prize money, though!" she quickly grabbed the first shot and knocked back five of them before slumping over, completely blank.
Eve, feeling the weight of the situation, hesitated for a second but then downed the remaining shots herself for Joe, "This for Joe...." her vision blurring and dizziness overtaking her.
Eve's hands are shaking, "Why is everything in a blur, I can't see anything clearly"
The party gets over and still Eve and Joe are on the table. Nate and Kim watching silently from a distance.
Lilly standing near their table, " You guys! I can't manage both of you. You guys wasted the chance!"
Kim standing near Nate, "So, you planned this, huh? I can see?"
Nate glanced at Lilly, a smirk playing on his lips, and moved towards Lilly. "Is that everything Okay? If you don't mind, Do you need any help?"
Lilly couldn't think straight but she nodded. "Yes, I can't handle both of them like this. It's already late. Nate Can you help me, if you are free, can you drop Eve at her house"
Nate, "Alright, Is that okay for you?
Lilly watched both of them, "I know You're a new student but I have no choice, It's already late."
"I'll take care of Eve," Nate said.
Lilly, with her urgent demeanor, forgot to tell Eve's address, and she finally managed to go home with Joe.
Nate gently guided Eve toward the door, placing his hands on her hips, and supporting her to walk and they left Lisa's house.
Kim gave a quick wave before leaving and he understood his plan, "See you, man".
In the car, Nate glanced at Eve, who was passed out against the window, the soft rise and fall of her chest indicating her peaceful sleep.
Nate while driving thinking, Shit! I forgot to ask her address; She's so out of it... I wonder where she lives. She didn't give me her address. He checked her for a phone to call someone after checking her seat but he found nothing.
Nate sighed, unsure of what to do. He had no way to contact anyone for her address. "Maybe I'll just take her to my apartment, he thought, I'll figure it out later. I planned something, but God planned another idea"
He drove toward his apartment, keeping one eye on the road and the other on Eve, who was now sleeping soundly, a small, amused smirk spreading across his face
Nate thought with some confusion," Is that the right thing, or i am doing wrong? what if her bodyguards found it later." Finally, we reached my apartment.
Arriving at his apartment, Nate carefully lifted Eve out of the car, being mindful of her unsteady state.
Eve (groggily) "Hey, what are you doing? Why your hair is too short Joe? Where's your long hair now? You never asked for my suggestion on the style!"
Nate couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. "She's so annoying... sometimes that's what makes her cute."
From a distance the quiet hum of the car engine blended into the city noise as the shadowy figure adjusted their camera lens, focusing on Nate and Eve entering his apartment. From the parked car across the street, the camera clicked softly.
Click. Click. The figure didn't dare miss a moment, capturing every detail—the way Nate held the door open for Eve, the subtle laugh she gave in return.
After a few more shots, the figure leaned back, satisfied, and scrolled through the photos. A sly smile tugged at their lips as they opened a messaging app. The photos were sent with a single tap, accompanied by the message: "Thought you'd want to see this."
Somewhere in a dark room, a phone buzzed. A hand with jet-black nails picked it up, the glow of the screen illuminating a smirking face. The woman scanned the photos, her expression twisting with a mix of anger and amusement. "How dare you, Nate. You'll regret this."
The sharp sound of a glass door sliding open shattered the room's silence. Her assistant entered, professionally with a neatly organized file in hand. "Ma'am, your flight ticket and passport are ready," the assistant delivered the message smoothly "Your flight is tomorrow evening Texas."
She didn't look up immediately, her gaze fixed on the photos. Then, after a beat, she nodded. "Okay. Book my stay at the hotel."
"Sure, ma'am," the assistant replied, bowing slightly before leaving the room.
Her nails grazed the edge of her phone as she whispered, "You made the biggest mistake of your life, Nate. But she..." Her voice grew darker and colder. "She's going to pay for your mistake.", she turned off the light and left the room.
Back at Nate's apartment, things took an awkward turn. Eve could barely stand as Nate supported her toward his door. When he paused to enter his password, Eve suddenly lost her balance and stumbled into him.
"Oops, sorry," she muttered, though her expression remained blank.
Nate steadied Evangeline, his brows furrowed. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, shaking her shoulder lightly. She appeared dazed, her head drooping as she leaned against him.
Finally, he got her inside and laid her down on his bed, adjusting her dress and carefully slipping off her heels and placing them properly.
At Eve's house, her phone suddenly buzzed with a message alert. "Don't drink too much, my sweetheart. It makes me angry when your classmate holds your waist. He's going to pay for that. By the way, long time no see, did you miss me?" by stalker N
