---
The evening air was thick with anticipation as Sakura made her way toward the training grounds. The village had quieted down, the usual hum of activity giving way to the soft whispers of the night. The moon hung high in the sky, casting its pale light over everything, making the world seem quieter, more intimate.
Sakura's mind was a whirl of conflicting emotions. The conversation with Naruto had been a turning point for her—she felt like a weight had been lifted from her chest. He had given her the space to breathe, the time to figure things out. But as much as she appreciated his patience, it didn't make the choice between him and Sasuke any easier.
Sasuke had been distant lately, but not in the same way he had been in the past. He had become more aware of her, his presence always lingering in the background. Every time their paths crossed, there was an unspoken tension between them, a pull that neither of them seemed able to resist. Sakura couldn't help but wonder if Sasuke was waiting for her to make a move, to acknowledge the connection between them.
As she approached the training grounds, she saw him standing there, as usual, leaning against a tree with his arms crossed. His posture was relaxed, but there was something in his eyes that told her he was waiting for her. It was as though he knew she was coming, as though he had been expecting her.
Sakura stopped a few feet away from him, her heart beating faster at the sight of him. His eyes met hers, and for a moment, the world seemed to pause. There was no need for words—Sasuke's gaze said everything. It was intense, almost too intense, as if he was silently daring her to confront the emotions that simmered between them.
"Sasuke," Sakura said softly, breaking the silence. "I didn't expect you to be here."
"I was waiting for you," he replied, his voice low, almost like a secret. "You've been avoiding me."
Sakura flinched at the truth in his words. She had been avoiding him, not because she didn't want to be near him, but because she didn't know how to handle the storm of emotions that seemed to swirl whenever they were together. It was easier to stay away, to bury her feelings, but that only made the pull between them stronger.
"I've been... thinking," she said hesitantly. "About everything."
Sasuke took a step closer, his presence overwhelming in the stillness of the night. "What are you thinking about?"
Sakura's heart raced as she struggled to find the right words. She had spent so much time trying to make sense of her feelings, but the more she thought about it, the less clear everything seemed. "I don't know. It's... complicated."
Sasuke's gaze softened, and for a brief moment, he seemed to drop his guard. "You don't have to explain everything right now, Sakura. I know it's not easy."
Sakura looked up at him, her eyes searching his face for any sign of what he was feeling. His usual stoic expression remained, but there was something in the way he held himself, something vulnerable beneath the surface. It made her chest tighten, her breath catching in her throat.
"I don't know what to do, Sasuke," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. "I don't know what I want."
Sasuke reached out, his hand brushing against hers in a gesture that felt both tender and charged. "You don't have to have all the answers right now," he said softly. "But you can't keep running from this. You can't keep pretending it doesn't matter."
Sakura's pulse quickened at his touch, and for a moment, she forgot about everything else. She forgot about the choices she had to make, about the complications of her feelings. All that mattered in that moment was the way his hand felt against hers, the way his presence made everything else fade into the background.
"Sasuke..." she whispered, her voice barely audible as she looked up at him.
Before she could say anything else, Sasuke leaned in slightly, his face just inches from hers. The intensity in his eyes made her heart race, and for a moment, she thought he might kiss her. But instead, he paused, his breath mingling with hers as he waited for her to make the next move.
Sakura's mind was a whirlwind of confusion. She wanted to give in, wanted to close the distance between them and let herself feel the intensity of his presence. But at the same time, she was aware of the consequences, aware of the mess she was already in. She had feelings for Naruto, too. She couldn't just ignore that.
"Sasuke, I..." she started, but the words died in her throat as he took another step closer, his body almost pressed against hers.
"Sakura," he said, his voice low and steady, "you don't have to say anything. I'm not asking for an answer. I just want you to feel what's here."
Her breath hitched as she felt the heat radiating off of him, the unspoken desire hanging in the air between them. She knew what he was offering, and she knew that if she let herself fall into it, there would be no going back. But the pull was undeniable. The way he made her feel—alive, electrified—was something she couldn't ignore.
She closed her eyes for a moment, her mind racing, but when she opened them again, she found herself inching closer to him. Her heart pounded in her chest as she raised her hand to touch his arm, her fingers brushing against his skin. The contact sent a jolt of electricity through her, and for a brief moment, she forgot about everything else.
But before she could act on the impulse, Sasuke gently pulled away, his expression unreadable once again. "I won't push you, Sakura," he said, his voice quieter now. "But you have to understand that I'm not going anywhere. And neither are you."
Sakura's breath was shallow as she nodded, her mind still reeling from the tension between them. She didn't know what to do, didn't know how to handle the fire that burned between them. But one thing was certain: Sasuke was right. She couldn't keep running from it. The choice, whatever it was, would have to be made soon.
Sasuke turned and began to walk away, but before he disappeared into the shadows, he glanced back at her. "I'll be here when you're ready."
Sakura stood there, her heart still racing, the taste of his presence lingering in the air. She wasn't ready. But part of her was starting to wonder if she ever would be.
