Chapter 10: Risk everywhere
Ryan stood at the edge of the forest, his eyes scanning the horizon cautiously. Having managed to get rid of the rabid rabbits, he knew that the forest had more powerful enemies in store for him. The ambient sounds gradually grew louder, and the air became saturated with menace. Everything around him was telling him that more powerful monsters were waiting for him in the darkness.
Ryan began collecting the carcasses of the rabid rabbits to cook later, looking for a suitable location. As he traveled through the dark lands that surrounded him, he felt something strange. The shadows around him were moving slowly, as if they were breathing behind him. With each step he took, he could feel something heavy approaching.
Suddenly, the silence was interrupted by a faint sound seeping through the trees. A swift movement appeared in front of him, a strange creature with brown fur and red eyes that glowed in the darkness, like a blazing fire. The animal looked familiar in its details, but in truth, it was terribly different from anything he had ever seen before.
'What is it?! A wolf?' Ryan muttered, but he didn't have time to think about its details. In this world, every creature could be a killer, and there was no room for hesitation.
In a flash, the wolf lunged at him, its eyes glowing with rage. Ryan had no time to think; he just acted on instinct. He jumped in the opposite direction, avoiding the sudden attack. He knew it was going to be a tough fight. The animals in this world were more ferocious than the ones he knew.
Taking advantage of his speed, Ryan made his way to the nearby trees to take cover. He felt the weight of the wolf behind him, but thanks to his quick movement skills, he was able to stay out of danger. In a moment of weakness for the wolf, Ryan took advantage of the opportunity, and with a powerful blow with his staff, he hit the beast's head, causing it to stagger and retreat in fear.
But suddenly, Ryan felt something different in the air. There was another movement, something bigger, more powerful, rapidly approaching him. Ryan froze for a moment, then raised his head to face the monster, which appeared from the shadows as if it were part of the darkness itself. Its body was huge, its eyes glowing a deep red, while the shadows wrapped around it like a halo.
'Damn it!' Ryan whispered, realizing that he had lost his focus for a moment and that the monster was ready to attack. Sharp claws rushed toward him in a double strike. Everything moved slowly in his mind, but he didn't have the luxury of thinking more slowly. Acting on instinct, he leapt into the air to avoid the first attack, then spun around quickly to pick up the stick again and hit the wolf in the eye with a devastating blow, causing it to lose its balance abruptly. In an instant, he plunged a sharp branch into its head, killing it outright.

Ryan felt a wave of relief and accomplishment as he leveled up, but soon he became aware of the monster that began to move slowly in the darkness. For the first time, he took in its massive body, which looked like a piece of the darkness itself. Without warning, a massive onslaught of shadows surged forward, forcing Ryan to run at full speed to avoid the attack.
As the trees splashed around him, the monster gradually emerged from the shadows, glowing with its dark body and red eyes. It was gigantic, more than three meters tall, and its broad wings, covered in shadows, flapped in the air, moving like dark waves.
Ryan felt his heartbeat increase, but he didn't have time to hesitate or think. In an instant, the monster swooped down with unexpected speed, as if the ground beneath his feet had exploded. The monster was much faster than he expected, its black wings flapping at a terrible speed, trying to crush him with a force he hadn't imagined.
Ryan ran away, his eyes focused on the ocean. He thought quickly, then activated his light running skill. Suddenly, he felt his body lunge forward at breakneck speed, as if his feet had become part of the ground itself, traveling through trees and rocks faster than he thought possible.
As the monster chased him through the sky, the wind howled behind him, but Ryan was much faster now. Trees were scattered all around him, but he dodged them deftly, moving as if he were traveling through the air. Every part of his body was working in perfect harmony, and the shadows the monster was trying to cast behind him couldn't keep up with his speed.
The monster was still in the sky, but Ryan was dodging superbly. Whenever the monster attacked from above, Ryan would disappear into the huge trees and keep running faster, not giving the monster a chance to catch him. The ground was littered around him, but he remained in constant motion, as if he were part of the forest itself.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of fierce pursuit, Ryan reached the edge of the dark forest. His heart was pounding, but he felt a slight sense of calm amidst all the commotion. Using his light sprinting skills to full speed, he crossed the last distance between him and a more open area until he was clear of the looming beast. The beast had lost its trail in the dense shadows after its wings became entangled in the trees, giving Ryan a chance to escape.
