Chapter 99: Bizzare Kiana, Bizarre Mei, A Twisted Showdown?!
Mei didn't pull her hand away. Instead, she covered his with her other hand. "Does that feel better, Brother?"
"No. I can't feel warmth or cold."
She withdrew her hand, her face falling slightly.
7:00 PM. One hour until the portal opened. They sat in silence, Mei wearing a small, almost wistful smile.
Li Mo considered his options. He could leave Mei here, let her absorb Bizarre Mei's power, erase the new world, and wander this empty planet alone. It would contain the Bizarre, at least temporarily. But the risks were too high. What if she lost control? What if she succumbed to the loneliness?
He needed a permanent solution.
As long as Mei remained stable, Bizarre Mei was contained. But the new world, a product of memetic contamination, needed to be eradicated. Taking Mei with him wouldn't solve the problem. Leaving her here would only repeat the tragedy.
The simplest solution was summoning the Bizzare Kiana. Let the new world's Bizarre entities attack him, then let the Bizzare Kiana destroy them all, including Bizarre Mei and the fabricated reality.
But everyone in the new world carried Bizarre Mei's taint. The Bizzare Kiana would target them all.
He looked at his left hand. A plan began to form.
All or nothing.
If it worked, he'd eradicate the new world's Bizarre entities and gain a potential weapon against the Bizzare Kiana.
The cemetery gates shimmered, the weathered sign and crumbling stone replaced by pristine new versions. Bizarre Mei had created this world here, rewriting reality with memetic manipulation.
"Let's end this nightmare." He took Mei's hand, his face grim.
Mei clutched her chest, a sudden pang of pain, a premonition of what was to come.
They returned to the new world.
"The Core of Reason and the Star of Eden are gone." As expected.
"Brother… what do we do now?"
"You're going to torture me. Just like I tortured you."
"I… I can't…"
"You have no choice. We both follow our rules."
He carried her to the cabin, its dilapidated state unchanged.
He entered the cage, binding himself with the rusty chains, a simple act for him, but a necessary one. He had to recreate the scene, to trigger Mei's "quirk."
"Pick up the tweezers. Your body will know what to do."
"Two outcomes. Either you finally get the death you crave, and this world ends with you. Or… you'll be reborn." He didn't elaborate on the second option.
"Either way, you have to torture me."
"Let's make a bet. How long can your personality resist your true nature?" He held out his hand.
"Forever," Mei said, her voice filled with naive confidence.
Li Mo used his left hand, usurping her organs, reclaiming what was once his. The price: his own organs were transferred back into her body.
A wave of pain washed over him.
Mei, her hand trembling, plunged the scalpel into his chest, cutting through flesh and bone, her actions uncontrolled, her eyes filled with horror.
"I… I…"
"Continue."
He let her cut, his heart and organs exposed.
"No! I don't want to! Stop! Please stop!" She struggled, but her will was no match for the Bizarre's rules.
She severed an artery, blood spraying onto her face, onto the floor.
He healed instantly, the cycle of cutting and healing repeating, her cries of anguish mixing with a growing sense of… pleasure.
"I don't want to do this! I can't stop! Brother, I can't stop!"
"I want to cut your throat! I want to rip out your heart! I…"
"I'm sorry…" Her tears mingled with a twisted smile.
She transformed, her shyness replaced by a manic glee.
"Brother, I'm so happy! So happy!"
"I don't want to stop! This is so much fun!"
"Don't die! Let me play a little longer! Just a little longer!"
Li Mo watched in silence as she tore at his lungs with the tweezers, as she carved into his ribs with a small saw, as she pulled out his intestines, cutting them inch by inch. He felt like he was back in the lab, a specimen dissected by eager scientists.
But this was worse, more brutal, fueled by Bizarre Mei's self-loathing, her desire to punish herself, to atone. She saw him as herself, her torment a twisted form of self-harm.
He was glad he'd only inflicted superficial wounds on her. Otherwise, he might have become like this, a monster consumed by cruelty.
Was this the Notebook's second page's plan all along?
He winced. The pain was intensifying, spreading, reaching his very soul. This wasn't just physical agony. This was something far worse.
"Brother! You're amazing! So amazing! I love you! I love you so much!"
"Don't die! Please don't die!"
"I love you! I love you!" Her tears flowed, but her smile widened, her body twisting, her fingers twitching as she revved the saw, tearing through his flesh.
He reached out, gently wiping away her tears.
The moonlight, now crimson, bathed his face.
He cupped her face in his hands, echoing her words, his voice filled with a love he no longer felt.
"I love you too."
Time seemed to freeze.
A silver thread sliced through the saw, through Mei's body, severing her in two.
"Huh?" Her upper body fell to the floor, her eyes wide with surprise, staring at her detached lower half.
The Bizzare Kiana stood in the doorway, her face a mask of rage, her crimson eyes fixated on Mei's remains, a wave of killing intent washing over the world.
Every being tainted by Bizarre Mei, every blade of grass, every brick, every fabricated soul, was marked for death.
They were Bizarre entities, immortal, but not indestructible.
They weren't dead yet. The Bizzare Kiana was simply choosing the most agonizing way to end them.
"She's here." Li Mo's enhanced senses screamed in warning. She'd targeted the entire world, just as he'd predicted.
"A-Mo… I… I love… you…" Her voice was childlike, a clumsy expression of affection.
He broke free from the chains. "Hold her back!" he shouted to Mei's severed form. Bizarre Mei wouldn't die so easily.
Mei's eyes cleared, the manic glee replaced by a cold resolve. The human Mei was gone, consumed by the Bizzare Kiana's attack. Bizarre Mei was in control now.
Li Mo burst through the cabin wall, running towards the cave.
