Chapter 29: 28 - A Tale From The Past (5)
Eros, who tried to meet Eriu, was always blocked by Louise, Ariadne and Quella. They would do anything to prevent them from meeting. Quella herself doesn't recommend them to meet because Eriu's condition is still bad.
They were afraid it would traumatize Eros, who heard the sound of the pot breaking.
Whenever Eriu had something to say, Quella would listen, even if it sounded crazy.
"..."
"I don't deserve their kindness."
Perhaps it was because Eriu trusted Quella that Quella did not tell anyone else, and because Quella was a good listener.
A week passed, and Quella said that Eriu's condition was slowly improving.
That day, Quella returned to her home with Eros.
The fact that Eros was not there was a strange feeling for him, because usually he was the first one to appear and would be at his side. Even Eros was in his hallucination. That was the reason why Eriu asked about his whereabouts, but Ariadne and Louise only answered him by saying that there was a problem these days, but they didn't give him any details about it.
"Closed-minded people never have brains." As she recounted the last two months, Quella sighed.
This is because these bad guys have resurfaced by throwing tantrums, starting with pelting their houses with rocks that could explode at any moment.
"Sometimes people like that need to be thrown out into the world to open their minds a little."
Louise was the first to come to his senses and made these people leave, although they would return. Fearing that Eros would hear the nonsense of these people, they decided to leave Eros with Quella, who was the most trustworthy, and because Quella was no ordinary grandmother.
That way, Ariadne could easily go out and beat those people because Eriu didn't see her and Eros wasn't at home.
"Huft..." Eriu looked up at the blue sky with a feeling of peace.
Quella had told him the facts: That he had almost died of blood loss and that Eros wanted to be sacrificed.
It was as if there was someone who was the initiator of the whole thing, but there was no clue who it was.
Quella said that all the chaos started with frequent crop failures, and also the death of 12 children and a mother who miscarried made everyone think that it was because of Eros that the God of Hope had cursed them.
Eriu could only roll his eyes if he heard that crap again.
Eriu believes it was not Eros appearing, but their behavior toward Eros angering the God of Hope.
The events that have suddenly appeared have caused his parents to keep a close watch on him, and of course because they are afraid that he will do something reckless again.
Protecting Eros will certainly have an effect on his family, making it impossible for them to buy their daily groceries. That's when Ariadne said that there was a woman who came with her child to give them vegetables as long as they traded them for dandelions.
Of course, if someone came and said that, people would be suspicious. But in fact, the vegetables and meat were not poisoned, and the woman had wanted to help him from the beginning.
Ariadne told him that her name was Emma.
Louise, who heard the little sigh, was immediately worried, "Are you hurt?" Still with his eyes on the sky, Eriu replied, "Nope.
"I thought if I blew air, the clouds would move faster."
Louise smiled and patted his head. They fell into their own silence. "Is it because it's going to rain soon that you're staring at the sky?" Louise asked.
Eriu turned his head to look at Louise, for a second Eriu thought Louise could see. How did he know it would rain soon?
The blue sky was darkened by the black clouds that gathered above them. "I don't like rain..." Eriu looked back at the sky, "I just like the sky."
"Because it's always there."
Louise patted the chair, "You'll like the sea then."
"?"
"The oceans are almost like the sky, they don't change unless nature wants them to."
"When the weather is bad, the ocean is a disaster for everyone, and when the sky is blue, the sight of smoke means death is near."
The two things that are covering the world with their blue color are probably one and the same thing. Just as peaceful and just as deadly.
Ariadne appeared from behind, carrying a cake. All of a sudden, a confiti fell from the top of Eriu's head after Louise's magic appeared.
"Happy birthday!" The cheerful voice stirred the strange feeling in his heart. Eriu's birthday was the same as the day of his death, 05/05. But here, people came not to mourn, but to celebrate his appearance in the world.
Eriu opened his arms to catch the gift floating above him.
"This is a gift from us." Louise said: "I'm sure you'll like it." Eriu knew at once what the present was - a book.
Ariadne put the cake on the table and then a familiar voice called out to him.
"Eri!!!" Eros ran with all his might, accompanied by Quella who ran behind him, carrying a basket filled with books.
Eriu certainly felt uncomfortable seeing Eros, considering that in his memory he died stabbed by Eros, but he knew that it was all just a picture of his hallucination. Eros hugged him, his eyes swollen as if he had been crying.
Everyone started laughing.
Quella caught up and gave him the basket, the cheerful voices where they spoke as the words were written to bless him. Quella smiled, showing her wrinkled face but full of vitality, "Congratulations on your 6th birthday".
"I wish I could see you grow up."
The sky turned beautiful blue with water dripping from the sky.
Even though it's just a short sentence, it certainly has meaning.
Congratulations on surviving until now, and I hope you will survive until the end when I meet you.
A congratulation that made him happy and made him laugh.
The sky may never change, but the sky is lonesome without the clouds and the birds that accompany them. In the same way, the ocean is full of all kinds of sea creatures that are there to be the ocean's companions on their journey.
They accompany it until they are destroyed.
But what can they do but be silently destroyed and slowly kill those who are their companions?
'...long life...'
Eriu realized that children's bodies were the most tired and the most energetic. Especially when it rained, he was somehow sleepy when he saw water droplets outside.
While the parents talked, the children were left to play together, and the first to fall asleep was Eros. Eriu, seeing Eros sleeping comfortably, became sleepy and let him sleep on the spot.
.
.
.
Tik-tok, Tik-tok.
"…"
He looked at the ceiling and saw that the person next to him clung to him like a sleeping koala.
Eriu slowly moved Eros' arms that held him. He tried to be as quiet as possible so that Eros wouldn't wake up. As he was moving him, the voice next to him startled him, "Eri?"
Gasp!
" Whaaa!!!" Eriu leapt up automatically and backed up until he felt his back hit the wall.
"Ptff..."
"?"
Eros chuckled slightly and pointed to the top of his hair, "Here, let me fix your hair." Realizing this, Eriu touched his hair and realized how messy his hair was. Red blush rose all over his face.
Even so, he still did not trust the person in front of him, perhaps this was called self-defense.
It was not until Eros came closer to Eriu that Eriu could see that Eros' eyes had swollen.
...
" Here." Eros didn't let Eriu tidy up his own hair and with his small hands Eros combed Eriu's hair. Eriu was frozen and did not know what to do.
The reason was probably that he felt bad about suspecting the children. Even though Eros had regressed many times, he really wanted to stay with his best friend. To forget everything that had happened to him and to start a new life where everything would be peaceful...
That means he kept coming back to take revenge.
He avenged his friend's death by making him change his life many times over, which means that all those ways were indeed his intention for revenge...
The cruel world made him change.
And if Eros could meet 'Eriu Grith' again, Eros would definitely want to be with him because Eriu Grith knew him best and always protected him.
This made him very fond of 'Eriu Grith'.
"I," Eriu opened his mouth, "it seems like I am totally hallucinating." Eros looked at Eriu and let him say what he was thinking, "Sorry..."
"Sorry for blaming you."
" I'm really sorry..."
!!!
Eros held Eriu's cheek and made him look at his eyes, their foreheads pressed together, Eriu could clearly see the sparkling pink eyes, "I often do that too."
"...?"
"I've blamed others many times to survive, that's life."
"Sometimes blaming others is also a defense. Maybe you can survive that way."
...
"Survive with life."
"But one day we have to wake up and realize everything."
"That's the circle of life."
Eriu blinked his eyes several times. He did not realize that tears were falling and wetting his eyes.
A feeling of comfort enveloped him and made him fall asleep so comfortably that he did not feel the urge to wake up.
When he opened his eyes, it was daylight and Eros was not beside him. The sun was shining very brightly, making the sky a brilliant blue. Eriu looked up at his now padlocked window and there was a bird crashing into his window, making him laugh.
Eriu walked into the living room. Louise noticed him and greeted him, "Good morning." The smell of cooking made his stomach hungry. Ariadne, hearing Louise, called from the direction of the kitchen, "Morning, Eri!"
As if his tear sac had been pricked by a needle, tears fell like a fountain.
Louise panicked and Ariadne rushed into the living room, of course not forgetting to turn off the stove, and there she rubbed Eriu's shoulders while Louise asked if anything hurt.
His voice trembled as he tried to say something, "...I, I want to live."
"..."
"I want to eat Mom's homemade fish and Dad's spicy noodles."
I want to live a life...
Like stars made of planets colliding.
Shattered into separate rocks and occupying space.
Even each planet that sees it will always remember how beautiful that star was.
So beautiful and so shining.
A star that walked the path of fate.
This could be the beginning of a tale about a star trying to define how it came to exist.
