Black Clover: Nah I'd Lose (UPDATED)

Chapter 27: 27. Stars

(Guys, here is the bonus chapter, this week's goal is 800 Powerstones, let's kill it 🔫.

Whether this fic would continue or not would depend on the support I would get.)

'This is my first time being on a ship in both of my lives.'

'Ahem, I hope I don't get stranded or something. I hope Mimosa was joking only,' he shivered and decided to distract himself from this line of thought.

'Now that's luxurious. I don't think the trip is going to be that long, yet there's this much preparation. Royals really are filthy rich,' Akeru thought while setting his bag down.

He had only carried a bag with his clothes and nothing else.

He lay down on his bed.

'Let's see, I don't know what the top brass of Heart Kingdom are called. I think it was 'Guardians' or something, not like it matters, but they all were stage 0, captain level, and the strongest one was that lightning guy,' Akeru thought while looking out the window.

Akeru thought for a while for the next few minutes.

'Despite cramming that whole thing, I still don't have much expertise with runes,' Akeru thought while pointing his hand stretched out towards the ceiling.

A magic circle started forming slowly, and nearly after a minute, it was completed.

Akeru closed his eyes just as he activated the spell.

A flash of light enveloped the whole room.

'I still would have to start practicing this to be actually time efficient. It takes me one minute to do basic spells like this, let alone complex spells like traps and all,' Akeru started practicing.

A few hours passed just like that.

'I am almost out of mana. Let's have some dinner,' he looked at the setting sun outside and got up from the bed.

While he was moving through the corridors on the ship, trying to either find the mess or Mimosa, he found the latter near a corner.

He went there.

She seemed to be talking to somebody previously.

When he reached there, he saw that it was none other than Kirsch Vermillion.

Mimosa's biological brother.

"Good Evening, Akeru." Mimosa had already noticed him before, and she greeted him.

"Evening, Mimosa," Akeru said while looking at her brother.

The guy was just standing there, yet Akeru saw the aura of narcissism and pride oozing out of him.

It was, to be honest, blinding.

'I wonder how strong he is exactly,' Akeru wondered about the gap between Advanced Magic Knight and Intermediate Magic Knight.

He subconsciously tried to look for blue lines, but despite just standing there, he didn't have many openings. Akeru saw only a few blue lines.

Those suddenly disappeared when Kirsch suddenly looked at him in the eyes.

"That wasn't pretty," he said seriously.

'Fuck, I am screwed. Did he sense me trying to find him for openings?' Akeru became nervous instantly.

He neither had much mana left nor would have been able to do anything with his mana reserves at peak.

However, the tension in Akeru's body disappeared when Kirsch changed his demeanor instantly to the previous one.

"You really are interesting, obviously not pretty as me or talented as me. I would rather say that most things about you are not pretty like not oozing out any spec of mana, or your demeanor or your 'efforts,' but those ugly things together make it pretty, still not pretty as me," Kirsch suddenly said.

Akeru was dumbfounded at what to say at the moment.

Mimosa was also shocked but for a different reason.

"Anyway, my dear sister, I need to leave. If you miss your dear brother, you know where to look." With that, Kirsch left.

There was silence for a few seconds broken by Akeru's questioning.

"What was that?"

"Don't ask me, I am in the same boat as you."

"You know him for like 13 years or something. You should have some idea, right?" Akeru deadpanned at her.

"Ahem, I might be wrong, but I think he acknowledged you. That's pretty rare for him to say to a person, especially when the given person is a commoner," Mimosa gave her own hypothesis.

'I am technically a royal now,' Akeru wanted to say that but didn't say it as he understood in what context she meant this statement.

"Did you have dinner?" Akeru asked.

"Not yet. Did you?"

Akeru shook his head.

"Well, let's have it, hmm?"

"Sure." Akeru didn't mention that he was looking for her to find the location of the mess.

They took the food and settled down at one table in the corner with a good scene outside.

"So, what were you up to last month?"

"I was delving a bit into runes and all," Akeru said while taking a bite of food.

No chef was present on board; only seven people were present on the entire ship.

Food was arranged beforehand and kept there with some runes that could prevent food from getting spoiled.

Mimosa asked with a weird gaze, "And?"

"Just that only. I was holed up there to cover as much as possible."

"Did you get some result out of it?" She asked again while reframing her question to be more specific.

"Yeah, it's just that my speed of casting is very slow at the moment for them to be used in battle," Akeru said while stretching out his left hand.

Mimosa watched in rapt attention as the magic circle started forming, and after around a minute, it was completed.

A beam of fire erupted from it.

It spread out in a small range, so nothing was harmed.

"WOAH, somebody actually did IT!" Her weird gaze had changed into a mix of shock and admiration.

"Uhh, what are we talking about?" Akeru said while putting his arms on her shoulder and putting her back in her seat.

She had subconsciously jumped out of her seat and shouted at Akeru's ears.

"Ahem! How unelegant of me, I apologize for that," Mimosa said while having an embarrassed expression.

"It's fine, so what did you mean by that statement?" Akeru didn't mind and asked the most important question.

"There's an ongoing bet between some people in our House about how much time it would take for the next person who would delve into that field to come. In the last decade, nobody had actually properly got into that field, and for the last few years, nobody had even touched those books."

'I fucking knew it,' Akeru thought with a shake of his head.

"I know right, those were really painful. I am not going to touch any book for a few hours after this."

Mimosa giggled at that.

"Anyway, what were you up to last month?" Akeru asked the same question to Mimosa.

She started telling about which aspect of healing magic she was delving into and her preparation for going to Heart Kingdom.

Akeru asked a few questions due to his curiosity, and he didn't have any other topic to continue the conversation, which led to Mimosa getting into details.

Akeru could still understand some parts of it and infer other parts of what she was saying by looking at her body language and making some logical deductions.

However, soon it got to the point that everything was bouncing off his head.

They were done with the dinner.

"Do you want to see the stars? There's a specific location on top of the ship, especially for this," Mimosa suddenly asked.

Akeru hesitated for a moment and weighed his decision of whether he wanted to do it or not.

'To be honest, I never had much interest in that, also the fact that I had my plate full with so many things which mattered to me in my previous life, but...'

'I had looked at stars in the last few years here, and due to almost no pollution, they were even clearer, but those were things I did while trying to fall asleep, and lasted for less than one minute per session.'

Thoughts passed at lightning speed through his mind.

'My mana reserves are still not at the amount I wanted, so I guess I could spend a bit of time there before going to have the last round of training before sleeping,' Akeru decided and nodded.

"Yeah, I have some time." With that, they went towards the terrace.

Looking at the stars for a few minutes, he came to a conclusion.

'I finally realize that I can't understand why people like to look at stars as a hobby,' he wisely nodded.

Mimosa talked a bit about constellations and showed him a lion constellation too, whose name he had already forgotten.

Soon, their conversation became a bit more trivial until Mimosa brought up one topic.

"Have you heard about the famous spy who infiltrated our kingdom more than a year ago?"
