Chapter 13: Chapter 13 : Try Everything Once
The large tavern was fixed on Kuroha, with everyone eager to see what kind of magical control the young man, who had wiped out O'Neill's squad in an instant, could command.
"Hey, let's bet," one adventurer whispered, "I bet this kid can't reach Three Bamboo-tier power..."
Although saying such a thing at this moment might bring trouble, for these adventurers living on the bottom rungs of society, alcohol and gambling were their only means of dulling their frustrations.
"I bet he can control Two Bamboo-tier!"
"No, judging by the strength of his magic, he's at least an elite in the Magic Knights' ranks. I'm betting Three Bamboo-tier..."
Betting voices and analyses rang out one after another.
Noelle, standing next to Kuroha, couldn't help but nudge his arm, lowering her voice to warn, "You shouldn't try it. My brother said Three Bamboo-tier is the entry level for the Magic Knights, and if you fail..."
"Fail at what? I'm planning to try them all!" Kuroha grinned warmly, and with everyone watching, he casually rubbed Noelle's stiff body.
As a royal who had been exiled, Noelle's posture was still dignified. She had never been treated so lightly in public.
But just as she was about to protest, the young man's demeanor suddenly shifted.
His previously lazy gaze became as sharp as an eagle's.
The next moment, before anyone could react, a violent surge of magic exploded around Kuroha.
Boom!
Like a raging wind, it swept through the entire tavern, the power extending rapidly outward, even reaching the Three Bamboo-tier magic brooms hanging from the ceiling.
As soon as Kuroha's magic power touched the brooms, he felt his consciousness overlap with them, giving him a sense of control as though they were extensions of his own limbs.
Before the tavern-goers could recover, the brooms on the wall began to stir.
One, two, three, four...
Dozens of brooms stood upright like pillars, displaying sheer power.
When the last broom straightened, the so-called difficult-to-control Three Bamboo-tier broomstick also suddenly reacted.
A soft white light bloomed in the air, and in the blink of an eye, the broom streaked across the room, stopping right in front of Kuroha.
The other brooms formed a line behind it, floating as if under Kuroha's complete command.
The sight of Kuroha controlling dozens of floating brooms left many adventurers with their mouths agape, their drinks crashing to the floor in disbelief.
The scene felt like a supernatural event.
Several adventurers silently thanked themselves for not interfering with O'Neill earlier; otherwise, they might have ended up like the shattered ice on the floor.
"This... this is beyond the Ten Bamboo-tier limit, reaching the level of top-tier magic control. This kid is a genius," the bartender said in shock.
"Little girl, looks like you're traveling with someone remarkable. I wish you both a safe journey."
"What do you mean, traveling with someone remarkable?" Noelle blinked, giving the bartender a sharp look.
However, while she had once feared Kuroha, now she felt a deep respect.
What he had just done was something even her two brothers would struggle to achieve.
"Thanks for the broom," Kuroha said, pulling Noelle into his embrace. As magic swirled beneath them, he stepped onto the Three Bamboo-tier broomstick, and with a surge of power, they shot forward like an arrow.
The wind created by their rapid departure startled the stunned onlookers into action.
"Heh, this kid is truly something," the bartender chuckled, shaking his head at the shattered ice crystals on the ground.
Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed, and three figures—two men and a woman, all wearing white cloaks—strode in.
Seeing the tavern in disarray and the filthy surroundings, the leading man furrowed his brow, while the two behind him looked on with disgust.
"This is the place Noelle came to? It's fitting for her status, but it's beneath us royals. This is an embarrassment!" The woman in the back pinched her nose in disgust.
To the royals, a tavern like this, full of common folk, was a disgrace.
If they hadn't heard of the magic energy surge outside, they wouldn't have come.
No, scratch that.
As a devoted older brother, the leader of the Silverwing Griffin Squad, Noser, wouldn't have come for anything else.
Behind him were two more members of the Silverwing royal family: Solid Silfa and Nabura Silfa.
Compared to Noelle, their stature and presence were much more imposing, and it was they who had driven her out of the family's castle.
