Chapter 5: The Flame Awakens
The sun broke through the clouds as Kai Kurogami stepped into the Beyblade training grounds, a determined fire blazing in his eyes. He had spent hours studying every move from his battle with Phantom Fenrir. Now, he was ready to push Inferno Draconix beyond its limits.
"Alright, Draconix," Kai whispered, holding his Beyblade close. "We've got control. Now it's time for speed."
Taro arrived moments later, clutching his bright green Bey, Turbo Lynx. He grinned widely. "Hey, Kai! Ready to test your upgrades? Because Lynx and I aren't holding back!"
Kai smirked. "You'll have to hit me first."
They positioned themselves at opposite sides of the training arena. The excitement crackled between them as they launched their Beys.
"Three… two… one… Let it rip!"
Both Beyblades burst into motion, their spins slicing through the air. Turbo Lynx zipped across the stadium, darting with unpredictable speed, while Inferno Draconix blazed straight ahead, flames trailing behind.
"Lynx, Shadow Sprint!" Taro commanded.
The green Bey shot left, then right, moving so fast it left afterimages. Draconix's initial attack missed, colliding with empty air.
"Too slow!" Taro laughed.
Kai gritted his teeth. "Not for long. Draconix, Blazing Boost!"
Suddenly, Draconix's flames roared higher, and the Bey accelerated, matching Lynx's speed with fierce precision. The fiery Bey closed in, its heat warping the air around it.
Taro's eyes widened. "No way! You've increased its speed and attack power?"
"Control and power," Kai said confidently. "I'm done missing my target. Draconix, Flame Strike!"
The red-and-black Bey shot forward like a meteor, slamming into Turbo Lynx with explosive force. Sparks erupted as Lynx was hurled into the air before landing on its edge, struggling to recover.
Taro clenched his fists. "Come on, Lynx, stabilize!"
But Draconix didn't let up. It spun faster, flames licking the stadium floor as it pressed its advantage.
Kai's eyes burned with focus. "This is what I've been waiting for. The power of flames unleashed!"
With a final burst of fire, Draconix struck Turbo Lynx again, sending it flying out of the stadium. Lynx clattered to the ground, its spin completely stopped.
The silence lasted only a second before Taro burst into laughter. "Man, that was awesome! You totally torched me!"
Kai smiled, picking up Draconix. The metal was warm, humming with energy. "This is just the beginning. Hiro's Shadow Basilisk won't stand a chance next time."
Taro wiped his brow, still grinning. "But you've got to be careful, Kai. Speed and power eat up stamina fast. If Draconix burns out too soon, you'll be left wide open."
Kai nodded, the flames of determination still flickering in his eyes. "I know. That's why I need one more move—the perfect finishing strike."
Taro raised an eyebrow. "What are you thinking?"
Kai clenched his fist around Draconix, the gears in his mind turning. "I'm thinking… an attack that burns everything in its path. A move that ends the battle in one blow."
