Blazing Destiny:The Rise of a bey

Chapter 7: The Shadow Returns

Chapter 7: The Shadow Returns

Night had fallen over the city, the streets glowing under flickering streetlights. Kai stood at the edge of the old district, his heart pounding with anticipation. The memory of his defeat to Hiro weighed on him, but the fire in his chest burned brighter now. With Inferno Draconix's new finishing move, he was ready to challenge the darkness again.

Taro, walking beside him, glanced nervously at the shadows stretching through the alleyways. "You sure this is the place? It feels… off."

Kai tightened his grip on his launcher. "This is where Hiro trains. If I want to beat him, I have to face him head-on."

The two boys stepped into a wide, open courtyard. The wind howled as if warning them away. In the center stood a single figure, cloaked in shadow, his arms crossed as he waited.

"Kai," Hiro's voice cut through the night, cold and sharp. "I knew you'd come back. I could feel your flames burning from the moment you set foot here."

Kai stepped forward, his eyes locked on his rival. "I'm not the same blader you defeated before. This time, I'll beat you."

Hiro smirked, his expression as dark as ever. "You think power alone will overcome shadow? Shadow Basilisk is more than a Beyblade. It's an unstoppable force." He raised his launcher, Shadow Basilisk gleaming with its dark, sinister aura. "But if you're eager for another lesson… I'll teach you despair."

Kai's heart raced with adrenaline. "Let it rip!"

"Let it rip!"

Both Beyblades burst into action. Inferno Draconix blazed with renewed energy, flames trailing as it roared into the arena. Shadow Basilisk spun with eerie silence, its movements twisting like a serpent as it slithered through the stadium.

"Draconix, Flame Spiral!" Kai shouted.

The fiery vortex erupted, filling the arena with heat and light. Flames licked the ground, creating a spinning inferno that surged toward Basilisk.

Hiro watched with calm detachment. "Basilisk, Shadow Coil."

The dark Bey twisted through the flames, its smoky aura absorbing the heat. It spun tighter, slithering around Draconix's attack like a living serpent, unharmed and relentless.

Kai's eyes widened. "What?! How is it—"

"Shadows consume fire," Hiro said, his voice icy. "Your flames are impressive, but they burn too brightly. Power without patience will burn itself out."

Draconix faltered as Basilisk struck from within the spiral, the impact sending sparks flying.

Kai gritted his teeth, refusing to back down. "Then let's see if shadows can survive a burst of pure fire! Draconix, Inferno Burst!"

The flames around Draconix condensed, glowing brighter and hotter until the air shimmered with heat. With a thunderous roar, the flames exploded outward in a spiraling blast.

Basilisk was caught in the inferno. The arena lit up with a blinding flash as the fire surged through every corner, consuming everything in its path.

The flames faded, leaving the stadium scorched and smoldering. Draconix spun furiously in the center, still blazing.

Kai clenched his fist. "This is it. I've got you!"

But Hiro only chuckled.

From the smoke, Shadow Basilisk reappeared, spinning with a dark, malevolent glow. Its energy had grown stronger, its shadow even deeper.

"No way…" Kai whispered.

"Basilisk, Dark Bind."

The shadows thickened around Basilisk, forming tendrils of darkness that lashed out. They coiled around Draconix, constricting its spin and drawing out its power. The flames flickered and dimmed.

Kai fought to keep control. "Draconix, break free!"

But the fire weakened, suffocated by the relentless shadow.

Hiro's eyes glinted. "You've improved, Kai, but you still don't understand. Power alone isn't enough. Darkness is patient. It waits for fire to burn itself out—and then it strikes."

Draconix slowed, its flames dying as the shadows crushed its spirit.

The battle ended in a single moment of silence.

Inferno Draconix wobbled… then stopped.

Shadow Basilisk continued to spin.

Kai stared at the motionless Draconix, his heart sinking.

Hiro lowered his launcher, his expression unreadable. "You still have much to learn. If you want to defeat me… you'll have to find a way to tame the fire within."

He turned and disappeared into the night, leaving Kai standing in the ruins of his flames.

To be continued…
