Chapter 18: Fluffy
I held my gun at the ready as the beast started to leave it's lair and I got a good look at it. It was clearly a sort of tyrant subspecies saurian with a towering form much like that of a T-rex. It was easily seventeen or so feet tall and nearly twice that long with rusty red leathery skin and a strange mix of T-rex and Triceratops looking head. It was predatory at the start with a massive set of huge sharp teeth but a thick bone ridge rising at the top of it's head.-
"You are fugly as shit." I said with a whistle when I saw the entire form of the beast.
"GRRRRRRAAAAAA!" The big lizard roared loud enough to shake the air and make my body vibrate.
"BANGX3!" I fired three shots right down the beasts throat mid roar which just made it angry as the shocks caused it's voice to crack like a dude going through puberty.
It stomped over towards me and I immediately noticed that for all that size and clear strength the thing was slow as fuck, I was not. I burst forward not wasting any movements and slide right under the open jaws of the beast and between it's legs.
"BANG!" I pop a single shot at point blank range into it's ankle joint on it's left leg.
The thick skin barely slowed the bullet that ripped into the poorly defended weak point and the shock damage of the bullet exploded for extra nerve damage as the delicate joint was blasted apart. The beast screamed as it collapsed under it's own weight and I rolled out from under it before it could crush me underneath it.
"Ankles and knees are rather nasty weak points for giant bipeds like you bud, not that you'll live to remember this advice to begin with." I said as the big beast glared at me with vitriol.
Naturally the beast tried to kill me even with it's handicap but I wasn't stupid enough to get anywhere near it when it had it's back to the corner like this. Even the gout of fire it breathed at me was avoided by keeping it's body between me and it's mouth. Eventually after an uncomfortable amount of headshots the beast keeled over.
'I don't even think Hammerlock would want this things head with this amount of holes in it.' I thought shaking my head and claiming my reward.

'Damn son now that's a loaded trait pool if I've ever seen one!' I thought seriously impressed by the traits this thing had.
It didn't have anything extremely high grade or broken like the Colossus but was definitely not far off in terms of builds.
This damn thing was an absolute unit and it wasn't hard to see why it was a local legend. The trait that interested me the most thought was definitely [Minor regeneration] that was an honest to gods healing factor even if minor as it said. I grabbed that as well as [Enhanced vitality], [Flame breath], [Omega body] and [Strong bones]. This was an expensive purchase but well worth it in my opinion as the corpse turned to dust.-
'Now to see what goodies that thing has squirrelled away in that hole there.' I thought as I reloaded and holstered my gun.
I walked into the dark dank cave that the beast had came out of and ignored the crunch of bones under my foot from all the "meals" that the beast had eaten here. The cave was fairly normal looking with dark dirty wet walls, ceilings and floors that had some spikey hanging bits coming from the floor and ceiling. The air was also not very pleasant as it smelled like decay and shit which was to be fair typical for most predators lairs. The bones got less and less as I got further into the cave which also tracked as most beasts didn't shit where they slept.-
'Oh hello beautiful!' I thought with a grin when I saw what was sitting in the huge nest at the back of the cave.
It was a messy mix of feathers, fur, leaves, sticks and mud that covered the walls and ceiling like a strange sort of underground bird basket. Within this nest however was a single oval object about three feet tall and with uneven but smooth hard green and red colorations, an egg. I didn't need any help at all to realize that this was the egg of the beast I had just killed.-
'I have been curious what would happen if I were to add lifeforce to a still developing creature so this is a great oppurtunity. I can also try adding traits too if that's possible!' I thought eagerly as I opened my house up and picked up the big ass egg and carefully brought it into the menagerie.
I set the containment unit for the egg for close to the same conditions as the cave and added the known incubation process of a Tyrant saurian for good measure.

'Almost a perfect copy of your parent too! Now lets start by adding some lifeforce to you shall we?' I thought eagerly as I began to funnel lifeforce into the egg bit by bit carefully.

To my great surprise the egg eagerly accepted the energy until I had put in over twice what it already had. At that point the developing creature was clearly unable to accept anymore without a period of time to adjust to it's current amount.
'You are quite the greed little thing aren't you? No matter I suppose since you are already mine.' I thought with a chuckle.
I didn't attempt to add any new traits to the thing yet as most of those that I currently had stored and not integrated it already had so there wasn't much point in doing so right now.-
The only exception at the moment was [Minute regeneration] that I got from the mutated Grog and hadn't integrated yet. I only had the one copy however and it wasn't such an easy thing to go get more of either so I wasn't just going to give it up on an experiment that may not even be possible. Speaking of that trait I wanted to fuse it with my new [Minor regeneration] to hopefully get a true regeneration trait but when I went to mentally nudge them together I was left speechless as [Minor regeneration] straight up ate the weaker trait for free.
A less than ideal outcome but it was what it was. I then wasted no time at all integrating the traits I had stored up and watched them either stack with the same named trait I had already or get straight up eaten by another trait. The exceptions here were [Flame breath], [Minor regeneration] and [Enhanced vitality]. The last of which I paid 5000 units of life force to fuse with [Strong vitality] to create [Superior vitality-Epic grade]. The changes to my body were rather minor during this round of integrations and thankfully not painful as a result. -
My whole body sort of felt tighter for a moment during the integration while my lungs tingled in a more annoying than painful way but that was pretty much it. I was a little giddy when I tried out my new flaming breath and exhaled a small burst of fire. It wasn't nearly as impressive as I had hoped but it made sense considering the size difference in lungs between me a person and a fucking Tyrant. Still I was motherfucking fire breathing baby! I couldn't help but laugh imagining the look on the old mans face when he found out eventually.-
[Superior vitality] I discovered was an incredibly versatile trait that was definitely worthy of that dope Epic grade. At first glance it just looked like a trait to live longer and be harder to kill, which it was but there was so much more to it as well. A good example was that all my exhaustion vanished after I got it like fatigue was a thing of the past. My food intake had also sharply dropped after getting the trait so I didn't need the ungodly amount of seven or eight thousand calories a day to stay healthy.-
Yeah that was a rather big fucking downside to my body being the way it was thanks to my powers, it needed much more nutrition than a normal persons. My food creation thingy in my house had been a godsend(probably literally) in keeping me fed. Fun fact by the way the old man is a very big fan of fatty brisket with mushroom gravy and cornbread. This new trait made things real awkward for me when I "ordered" my usual haul of food of whatever kind I happen to want only to feel full a quarter of the way in.-
I'm not complaining but it would have been nice if I got some sort of fucking heads up before I was forced to give most of the ordered food to the local wildlife that was thrilled. If you were wondering what I was doing for the past three days then the answer was both simple and complicated. See I was hunting in simple terms but the complicated part was that I was after something in particular, The Edenian bloodfeather. See this species was a bit unique here on Eden six in that it was a migrator avian creature that was a pain in the ass to track down a member of for a dude on foot like me.-
Appearance wise they were similar to what a Pteranodon was thought to look like with wide sharp featherless wings that extended from their sides as well to better catch updrafts. The difference was the heads that were basically the same as a vultures long neck and ugly bald head. They were called Bloodfeather however because they were all bright crimson red and impossible to miss in all this green and brown, they didn't actually have feathers which was retarded but whatever.-
While I was following rumors and supposed sightings I was also collecting lifeforce and a few traits that I wanted to stuff into the developing egg in my house. Was trying to make an already monstrously strong creature stronger a good idea? Probably fucking not but damn if it didn't sound like fun! So far I had collected a copy of three traits that I thought would be interesting in the thing [Clever mind-Uncommon grade], [Strong nose-Uncommon grade] and [Imprint-Common grade]. That last trait I took from a odd sort of fly that apparently imprinted on the first species it saw after being born that I found buzzing about a Jabber I had just blew the noggin off of.-
My hope was that should my experiment work I could tame the thing that comes out of the egg with this trait. The idea was quite appealing as it would basically give me my own personal vault monster. Food may be a problem once it gets bigger but that was hardly a concern for me so long as I had the food maker thingy.
