Chapter 303: Culling Game Rules

Eiji and Nino stepped deeper into Tokyo Colony No.2, both now officially Culling Game players.

The atmosphere was heavy, thick with the aura of death and destruction. Once magnificent buildings were now crumbling ruins, silent witnesses to brutal battles. Streets were stained with blood, and the corpses of Cursed Spirits littered the area.

"Ugh..."

Nino covered her mouth with both hands, trying to hold back her nausea.

"How can anyone live in a place like this?"

Eiji walked forward without hesitation. He knew this place was a battlefield. There was no mercy, only victory or death.

*SHUA*

Suddenly, two small shikigami appeared in front of them. The creatures looked strange, shaped like skull heads with small, light blue cylindrical bodies and tiny wings. They floated in the air, emitting cheerful sounds that contrasted with the chilling atmosphere.

"What are those?" Nino asked, confused and curious.

After Eiji opened her spiritual eyes, allowing her to see metaphysical beings like Cursed Spirits temporarily, Nino felt her worldview crumble.

"Don't be afraid, Nino. They are just shikigami called Kogane, they are not dangerous. Every Culling Game player receives one Kogane. They are the main interface for this game."

"So that's it. They're like guides."

Hearing his explanation, Nino looked at the small creatures with curiosity.

One of the Kogane then started speaking in a cheerful voice.

"Welcome to Tokyo Colony No.2! As new players, we will explain the basic rules of the Culling Game!"

Initially, there were only 8 original rules in the Culling Game, 4 more rules were added by players who had 100 points.

1. After a player awakens their cursed technique, they must declare their participation in the Culling Game in their chosen colony within 19 days.

2. Players who violate the previous rule will be penalized by having their Cursed Technique revoked.

3. Non-players who enter the colony become players upon entry and will be considered to have declared participation in the Culling Game.

4. Players gain points by ending the lives of other players.

5. The point value of a player's life is determined by the Game Master. As a general rule, Jujutsu Sorcerers are worth 5 points and Non-Sorcerers are worth 1 point.

6. Excluding their own life point value, players can spend 100 points to negotiate with the Game Master and add new rules to the game.

7. In accordance with rule 6, the Game Master must accept any proposed new rules as long as those rules do not have a long-term impact on the game.

8. If a player's score remains the same for 19 days, they will be subject to having their Cursed Technique revoked.

9. Players gain access to information about other players, such as their name, point count, number of rules added, and their current colony.

10. Players can transfer a certain number of points between each other.

11. Players can leave the game by spending 100 points to invite a substitute player to their colony.

12. Players can enter and exit across all colony boundaries.

"..."

Eiji listened calmly, while Nino struggled to follow the explanation that sounded like a complicated puzzle.

'Rule number 8 is really annoying. If my score stays the same, my Cursed Technique will be revoked. It seems I have to find a chance to earn points secretly without Nino noticing.'

In a Culling Game with a Battle Royale theme, how do you earn points? Of course, by killing other players!

It was impossible for Eiji to kill humans in front of Nino. Therefore, he only planned to kill one person so he could survive until the deadline, which was 19 days.

Nino came from a civilized society governed by law. For her, murder was a serious crime. Eiji didn't want to be hated by her.

"I don't understand any of this." Nino muttered in frustration.

"It's okay. You just need to follow my lead. I already know what to do." Eiji said reassuringly.

Based on information from Lin Fan's memories, in a few hours, Kenjaku would add two new rules that would change the dynamics of the Culling Game.

Suddenly, Nino pointed towards the street with a terrified face.

"What's that?!"

Eiji followed her gaze and saw a terrifying creature. The monster was a Cursed Spirit shaped like a giant insect with many tentacles, moving in a disgusting way.

"That's a Grade Two Cursed Spirit." Eiji said calmly.

Nino started trembling, and said fearfully, "W-we have to get out of here!"

"No need to panic." Eiji said casually.

He bent down, picking up a piece of concrete from the ruins nearby. Calmly, he coated the shard with Busoshoku Haki, making it glow dark like steel.

Without hesitation, he threw the shard towards the Cursed Spirit.

*WHOOSH*

*BOOM*

A loud explosion echoed as the Cursed Spirit was shattered into pieces.

"Amazing!" Nino looked at him with admiration.

Meanwhile, Eiji checked his name on the Kogane interface. He found that his name and Nino's were at the bottom with 0 points. In fact, there were many players who didn't have any points, so he wasn't worried about being noticed by Kenjaku.

Kenjaku wouldn't bother checking the names of players at the bottom.

The reason Eiji used Busoshoku Haki just now instead of his Cursed Technique was that he didn't want his presence to be known.

'Kenjaku is so cunning. Once he knows I'm alive, he'll hide and won't show up. It seems I have to postpone the reunion with Yuta and the others.' He mused inwardly.

"Now we need to find a safe place." Eiji said, taking her hand.

"Mm." Nino nodded, although she still seemed surprised by how powerful her boyfriend was.

Then, Eiji led Nino to a convenience store that appeared to have been abandoned. Although dark and messy, the place was safe enough for a while. Their Kogane followed, floating around them.

"Why are we stopping here?"

"There are plenty of supplies in the convenience store. Before I understand the situation, I won't be reckless. Nino, just take whatever you want. This will be our base."

"Is it okay? Taking things without paying… It feels like stealing."

"Kenjaku evacuated the civilians. No one will charge for the supplies in the convenience store. If you're still hesitant, I'll compensate the owner of this convenience store later after all this is over."

"Good! I've been wanting to try this for a long time."

Finally, Nino was convinced. Eiji watched her browse the convenience store in a good mood.

"Kenjaku, just wait…!!! I'll pay back my previous debt!"

Remembering that he fell into Kenjaku's scheme, Eiji felt humiliated and angry.

"Tsukumo Yuki failed to kill you even though she blew herself up, but I'm different. I won't fail."

He vowed to deliver a fatal blow so that Kenjaku wouldn't have time to escape.
