Break The Silence

Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Taehyung retrieved to the restroom, as soon as he arrived in his office. He opened the tap and rubbed his hands under the water.

Although, Taehyung always kept sanitizer, but sometimes it failed to satisfy his mind, and despite trying his best to stop himself, he usually ended up washing his hands for ten constant minutes, a ritual he can't avoid.

Once Taehyung felt eased, he headed back to the table, and settled his stuff on the right, another habit of him that Taehyung couldn't get rid of.

And finally, he sat on the chair, gazing at Jimin's file. He was excited to meet him, glad that he finally convinced Dr. Lee now he didn't want to waste a moment.

Taehyung had done all preparation, he had read a book written on Jimin, named "A Psychopath's mind". The theory was same as police made, Jimin a psychopath, who murdered his younger brother because of the jealousy, the author just carved it in a new shape.

However, in Taehyung's mind, Jimin was a mystery that remained unsolved. He strongly believed that people quickly took action against him, they made up their mind and convinced themselves that Jimin was a killer, but the story could be more than this.

Nobody have ever thought about the sixteen years old kid, diagnosing with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and having Schizoaffective. If anyone were thought differently, then the outcomes of his murder theories would be completely opposite.

Taehyung believed, many questions should have been raised. Like, which circumstances led him to kill his brother? Or did he really kill his brother?, as both Jimin and Jisun were home alone that night.

To uncover the truth, Taehyung decided to start from beginning. He wanted to investigate the case himself, piecing together clues and forming his own theories. Taehyung refused to rely on the fabricated information provided by the police and the media.

A light knock on the door grabbed his attention, "Dr. Kim may I come in." Mr. Kwon asked.

"Yes, come in." Taehyung replied in a gentle voice.

Mr. Kwon stepped inside, he noticed the table set differently, "Dr. Lee asked me to escort you to your patient." He said.

Taehyung nodded, "Yeah, let's go." He said, getting up in hurry.

"I wonder what made you to take his case in your hands?" Mr. Kwon asked hesitantly, "I mean I don't have any right to interrupt but nobody wanted to work on him, ever since Dr. Lee gave up."

Taehyung frowned his brows, as he grabbed the packet of his cigarettes and litter from the table, heading closer to Mr. Kwon. "Why would someone work on him, Jimin is not an object." He said, looking disappointed. "He's a human, living, breathing individual like us, so he has right to live his life, and I as a psychologist, not working on him but making him realized that right." Taehyung explained everything in calm deminour.

Mr. Kwon felt embarrassed, "Of course, Dr. Kim." He said, forcing a smile on his face.

Taehyung made his way out of his office, Mr. Kwon brought him to the forth floor through the elevators.

"This floor is actually a restricted area, not every doctor is allowed to visit these patients." Mr. Kwon said.

"Why?" Taehyung asked curiously, as they stepped out of the elevators and walked through the narrow hallway, with clusters of rooms at both sides, secured with the iron gate, that had a small window.

"We keep dangerous patients here. " Mr. Kwon replied.

"Is Jimin dangerous?" Taehyung asked.

They paused for a moment, Mr. Kwon turned back and looked at Taehyung in bewilderment, "He's not dangerous." He said.

"But you just said you keeps dangerous patients here." Taehyung reminded.

"Not that type of dangerous." Mr. Kwon said with a shrug his his shoulders, "Patients who try to attack on doctors who were helping them, or patients who tried to kill themselves, mostly the ones Dr. Lee declared as hopeless." Mr. Kwon explained.

Taehyung nodded, and they started walking again. He glanced around, noticing how dark the place was. Not a single window on the fourth floor was open. What unsettled him the most was the mysterious silence. Despite the presence of dangerous patients, the entire floor was disturbingly quiet.

Mr.. Kwon turned his right, then he stopped at the far end of the hallway. "Jimin, tried to kill himself few days ago." He said. "Refused to eat anything, and now he's on a liquid diet." His voice quiet, merely above a whisper, "So don't expect anything."

Taehyung chewed his lower lip, "Don't open the door, I don't wanna disturb him before our therapy session." He said, shifting his gaze towards the window, secured with the Laminated glass.

"Then why you asked Dr. Lee to see him?" Mr. Kwon asked.

Taehyung glared at him, he hated when people cross their limits, and tried to step inside the boundaries, he created for the strangers. Mr. Kwon seemed an individual with great motives with his small position, people like

"You can leave now." Taehyung said, his face contorted with disappointment.

Mr. Kwon bowed before leaving Taehyung alone.

For a moment, Taehyung stood still, gazing at Jimin lying on the bed. A small bandage covered his wrist, and IV tubes were connected to his other hand. His eyes stared blankly into nothingness, empty and hopeless. His skin was pale, and his body looked frail and thin.

Although Taehyung didn't expect much from Jimin, he still felt ached in his heart.
